  1. I was just reading the comments on the home page, and there are several other poor souls in similar situations. Really does show that life / fate / whatever you want to call it, really can be cruel and spares noone for good behaviour.

    David Bowie...

You need to do some serious sucking up to giggirl!
  3. How the mighty have fallen. I wonder if anyone has shown this to David Cameron.
  4. Remember reading about it at the time and just thinking, how the hell do you deal with that? Very sad story, and a very brave man, big respect and condolences to him!

James Barber Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > We think open a 100 hour retail pharmacy on such a residential street - taking deliveries, customers - isnt appropriate for such a residential street. If the surgery was on a commercial street it would make sense but not on Crystal Palace Street. Who is "We"? This is where I think you abuse your position as councillor James, at times you use the position to push your own NIMBY views, and it's not appropriate. And I think you do good work, but this is something that bugs me about your use of this forum. You should have 2 totally separate log ins IMO. James Barber the resident who has his own personal views on things, and James Barber the Councillor, who represents public interest. With regards the application, I would agree with Penguin68 that a portakabin pharmacy sounds like a pretty bad idea. However, I would fully support having a pharmacy once building work is complete. Realistically do you really think a load of drug addicts are going to take to Crystal Palace Road at 3am every morning like Zombies from an apocalyptic film?

"In Sydenham - it's case of head down - say nothing" Not where I live. You must be thinking of Lower Sydenham *spits*

"But I no longer have to pay ?10 deposit to get a pool cue from the Forresters" Really?!?!? I never had to pay a deposit. You must have looked like trouble!

You're about to be labelled a troll, because you're not allowed that opinion, even if there are quite a few like that around the place.
  9. We bought one, and ended up selling it (at a big loss) 2 weeks later. Daughter was having none of it!
  10. My wife is a member, and went to meetings near Brokley Rise I think (which is probably the Catford one you mention).

That one was done on page 1 I think.
  12. Chillaxed, obviously I'm not talking for EVERY person who has moved to ED, but I still think there are plenty who will use it as a stepping stone. Lots of families will "do" ED whilst their kids are small, then move on as they get bigger. Others will sell up in the knowledge thatn their Victorian terrace in ED will buy them a massive house elsewhere.
  13. The gentrification started long before 2000. In the 80s lots of "yuppies" moved in to the area, because it had some decent housing (Friern Road type) at affordable prices, so they moved in and did their houses up very nicely. They were the forerunners of the post 2000 gentrification. It's always been an area for upwardly mobile people to pass through before they can afford the areas they really want. Meanwhile the rest of us just lived there because it was home. It didn't seem rough as a kid growing up, and it didn't seem genteel either. I do remember my dad would avoid certain pubs because they were known as slightly less than friendly.
  14. This is where the odd shops on Sydenham High Street come in to their own!
  15. First thing I'd do is take it to a mate's who has a monitor and plug it in to that, just to be sure the actual computer side of it is working. At least that way you know all your data is safe and sound.
  16. I had this with my old laptop. Basically the screen was dead, or more to the point, a connection with the screen was out of place, as when I "bent" the screen towards me, it worked, but only if held in that precise position, which was basically impossible.
  17. Kitchen roll?!?!? That's like blowing your nose with sandpaper! (I know this because I am snotty all year round, and am always looking for something to blow my nose in to).

Haha. My favourite... First horse meat is found in tescos burgers. Reports coming in that camel toe has been found in Primark leggings.

  22. My little one has been snotty, and now has quite an angry looking sore area under her nose. Any tips onhow to treat it? Can Savlon be applied to this area? Thanks!

Where are there meant to be 8 burgers for a pound for sale? Was that not just something someone said as an exagerrated version of "cheap burgers"?

    Snow go

I've been lucky to be able to work from the comfort of home via remote access. It has been a very busy day though because the snow has a direct influence on my work.
