  1. St John's & St Clement's school is not in ED by the way.
  2. Yes, all the houses that overlook the green on E Dulwich Road, the church, the playground (but nothing further down Adys Road). Turnings off ED Road, such as Gowlett or Fenwick are IMO Peckham.
  3. the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So St Johns not an East Dulwich Church? Yes it is, St John's basically the end point for me. I'm not going to argue with anyone over this though, I just said what I think of as East Dulwich. Whether it's right or wrong is of no real importance in the grand scheme of things.
  4. I have never in my life heard anyone say that Bellenden was not Peckham (until the favourite streets thread that is). I always thought of ED as finishing at the Goose Green roundabout, but I am willing to go as far as EAST DULWICH Station (good of me I know). I would then say that the boundary runs along Goose Green up to the Peckham Rye Cross Roads. At the top, I'd say ED ends at The bottom of Sydenham Hill. I would call Hornimans Forest Hill.
  5. For the most part, what Rosie said. However, I have been there on occasions when certain punters were acting in a manner which could be described as a bit intimmidating.
  6. The government will want to asvoid this like the plague, and avoid it they should! Totally agree also with those who say 1. The HOL should not have any seats set aside for bishops (that is not to say that a bishop couldn't become a lord, but to have seats set aside is wrong). 2. The CofE not allowing women bishops means that the HOL is discriminating against women by making a number of seats in the house unavailable to women.
  7. I see a few people are going for the Saints to win over the pool. Oh ye of little faith!
  8. West Ham 1 Chelsea 2 Arsenal 3 Swansea 1 Fulham 1 Tottenham 2 Liverpool 3 Southampton 0 (my mate who came to the Wigan game with me was there for his first trip to Anfield. He's there again this weekend with his missus, so I am backing his 100% win record) Man City 2 Everton 1 QPR 2 Aston Villa 1 West Brom 2 Stoke 1 Reading 0 Man Utd 4 Norwich 2 Sunderland 0 Newcastle 2 Wigan 1
  9. He likes to stick pears up his colon?
  10. No way! These are the sort of people where I find myself wishing their flat would burn down (obviousle whilst empty).
  11. Well done RD. I said from the start I was rubbish at this, I just had a couple of flukey weeks.

In those days it was Dog Poo Road, it seemed to have a disproportionate amount of dog poo all over the place. Much of which was white. I've always liked Barry and Friern Roads.
  13. Don't get me wrong, 30s are great, and generally better than 20s, but the fact is that life has changed (not really due to age, but due to kids), and there are times that I long for some of the crazy times we used to have. Of course the truth is that I am conveniently forgotting the crappy side of things, and remembering it as if life was a never ending party of happy people. Last weekend I had a gig on the friday followed by loads of beer, then a trip to Liverpool on Saturday and an over night stay. The fact is, on Monday I was feeling too old for that shit.

They should definintely stop adding the knocked out teams of one in to the other, that undervalues the EL more than anything IMO.

Really? That's a shame, I haven't see anything of Mary J for a long time, so I was probably talking about the Mary J of 10 years ago (she who sang 911 with Wyclef, one of my favourite songs).
  17. Fair play to you for having a go though, I have to admit I'd want to have a go, but would probably keep my head down and not risk trouble. You really do wonder whether these morons actually give any thought whatsoever to what they are saying / doing. You almost hope not, because then they are just total morons. If they really do think gas chambers are funny, then that's a lot scarier. Either way they should be banned from all grounds for life.

Yeah Mary J definitely would have belted it out.
  20. And whilst I'm on about the CPT, I have memories of "fun days" they held up there in the 80s when I was a little kid. There seemed to be a real community built around the place. There was even a photo on the wall before it became the GE of all the locals standing outside the pub in the 80s. But then I look at my own experience between say 2001 - 2008, when the CPT was the central hub and headquarters for all of my social circle, and I guess it wasn't that different in many ways to my dad's era, except the place was staffed by young Australians instead of a family living upstairs for many years. I guess the period in which you lived your 20s will always be the rose tinted period of your life when you look back at a time when you were free and your money was all yours to blow on yourself.
  21. Another urban myth was that a lovely Bajan lady that drank in the CPT, who passed away not too long ago, used to be a Madam. No idea whether there was any truth in it, and it's not really the sort of thing you could ask her directly. She was a great local character though.

At least there used to be mash ups on youtube, but they all appear to have been removed for copyright reasons. Probably the stones worrying that a possible profit was being taken from them.

I know it sounds weird, but I'd like to hear Adele sing Gimmie Shelter. When the single Rolling in the deep came out, I was immediately reminded of Gimmie Shelter. I wasn't aline, as there are several mash ups of the 2 songs on youtube.

"we were told NOT to turn right out of the apartment door at all like YOU WILL MAYBE DIE." This reminded me of a trip to Venezuela in 2010 for a friend's wedding. His wife's family were bloody lovely, and looked after us. One of her aunts provided us with an apartment to stay in, and as they handed over the keys they said "daylight, go out, fine. Dark, you will get shot". We stayed in in the evenings!
  25. Stress / Depression. When a colleague in my old job went off with stress, the look on the face of another colleague (man in his 50s, proper Welling boy) was absolutely priceless. "Stress didn't exists when I started working, and why should you miss work cos you're a bit fed up? It's a bloody nonsense!". He said.
