  1. I would avoid LB if possible today too "A signalling problem at London Bridge is causing delays of up to 30 minutes to Southern and Thameslink services to and from the station. There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 15:00. "
  2. anyway - fracking. The geographical and scale benefits in the US was always going to make it a better fit than a small island tho right? And one of the geo-political impacts the success of fracking has had is the current tumbling oil price - which in turn is going to make it less attractive for companies to invest infrastructure getting at trickier targets Seeing the success and benefits of the process in America doesn't automatically make ALL opponents in this country militant, radical, luddite or even left-wing. Either way I expect we will all be talking plenty about energy sources of all kinds for years to come
  3. "the current cause celebre of the left is my cynical view" godammit man must you always be so one-dimensional plenty on the left are pro or at least agnostic, whilst many on the right in the tory shires where fracking sites are mooted are up in arms
  4. What I used to like about it was reliability - you know to the minute when you will be somewhere Plus, you can't knock the excercise Did I negate that excercise by "earning" a pint in the Bishop on the way home? Possibly
  5. I used to walk from Dulwich Library to Blackfriars - took about 70 mins which isn't bad Most journeys I managed in a week was 5 there and 4 back - the legs really feel it after a bit but it's perfectly doable when th eneed arises on days like today
  6. Unless, y'know, you thought a lot of what quids says is hypocritical. Maybe that is what you meant... ;-)
  7. "You don't have the right to insult anyone even with a pencil." You kind of do. Wether you should or not is the "responsibility" bit - but you do have the freedom and the right
  8. " Completely agree there's a great deal of hypocrisy about quids" Commas, commas, commas
  9. Re Victoria Station in rush hour When I use this, I need to hop on an eastbound district line service - I can't face Victoria tube in rush hour so I wander down to St James and have an easy hop on from there
  10. Alan, do any countries in 2015 sanction death for blasphemy? If the answer is yes then I would argue that the religion which underpins this societal norm plays rather a major part to play in this
  11. I didn't even post the right link. Dolt (me)
  12. You never see Catherine Bennett and quids in same room do you The 'staunch defenders' of the free press attending today's solidarity rally in Paris https://t.co/AU7A7UKGCg
  13. Ajaccio, Bastia and the Calvi Calvi would be my destination of choice on the coast next time. But those midland interiors on the train are just wow too
  14. Didn't find Corsica expensive to eat (compared to where anyway?) But I did find it one of the best holidays I've ever had. Travelled between coastal towns and the centre and it's truly amazing.
  15. never see red devil and *bob* in same room do you..
  16. you mean it could be WORSE between us Lou? Don't think I've met Sue at forum drinks tho (then again..) - the odd Goose gig, and then out and about. Last time I saw here was (I Think) at Ivy House where she was playing with daughter #1
  17. oh Steve.. Steve Steve Steve http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30742947
  18. "What is very annoying is that I bought a whole load of cartridges in bulk (not Canon ones obviously) and they almost certainly won't fit any new printer I buy. " This! This is something for the rage thread. Yes we can be frugal and buy cartridges only when needed but that can be a false economy. If we try and be clever and buy cheaply in bulk we are stranded when printer itself goes Imagine rebuying all cds everytime a cd player died
  19. DB&B: " everyone was really lovely then some of us had kids and became grumpy impatient sods which reflected in our short tempered posts. " There speaketh the truth! "I have to say without being able to see your expression and hear your tone I did take your message below to be a bit of a dig . You could have just left it at the first line . " It was a bit of dig in truth - I find the Sue's sometimes combination of dog/bone intransigence coupled with "who me?" stance grating - especially when playing the wounded party. She had asked el pibe to repost his words so I didn't think I was forcing an issue But as i've said before, I might give her a hard time on here, but I've met her on many occasions and face to face we seem to get on ok.
  20. I'd pretty much agree with Loz here Sue. 6 years isn't a bad return on any printer made in last 10 years You will get a better printer for much cheaper than it takes to repair. Of course the downside is you will need a bank loan for new cartridges
  21. except that isn't Banksy
  22. copied from an apple forum (so I'm taking no responsibility!) "you can block all numbers not in your contact list by doing this: go to settings open "Do Not Disturb" slide on "Manual" tap on "Allow Calls From" Select "All Contacts" All calls from numbers not on your contacts list will now be blocked. You can however still see all numbers that attempted to call you as missed calls. Verify the numbers and if legit, add them to your contacts list to receive any future calls from them."
