more will rumble out of this case yet "Despite the comments to the BBC earlier by the force?s chief constable, Sir Peter Fahy, Greater Manchester police say they are not aware of any threats to the club. PA has this: A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the force was not aware of any threats made to anyone connected to Oldham Athletic. "

Tiny Little Things That Cause You Irrational Rage

Oops. Fair enough. Agreed
-
do you think that IS why they have caved in? Because I don't
-
Yup - it's a terrible world Now imagine how many of those kinds of messages the victim has been receiving in the last few weeks and wonder why Evans hasn't said anything to ask people to stop it Basically anyone in the public eye (but especially women) get these threats All The Time
-
I have no reason to doubt threats were made by some supporters (after all isn't it one of the reasons Stevie G stayed at Liverpool back in the day?) and two wrongs don't make a right But equally I suspect some spin in including that as one of the reasons when really it's money and the ongoing damage to their reputation

That's a rather glib and uncalled for response quids (apologies otta for confusing the names - I should have known better) I've already alluded to the 70s in my posts (coupled with the fact that in the Polanski case it's been going on for decades and has the victim saying she doesn't wish to prosecute) I don't recall Assange being tried so can't really comment on the outcome of that case Not sure how much room there is for shit-stirring these days

I know people who lost family in the wars, good people who gave their lives. And I mean NO disrespect to anyone in that situation. And isolation, remembering the fallen in the 2 world wars is a good thing - but it's become something for all fallen soldiers now hasn't it? The best way to remember the dead and care for families and children would be to not make the same mistakes again and again surely When we have stopped doing that then we will have earned the right to use rememberance day as contemplation on those who died As it is it's a bit like lazy Catholics going to confession every week and saying sorry for sins they repeat over and over - because there is always the "moment of reflection" Sue - how dit 9/11 change it for you? If anything it crystallised the futility of rememberance when we let one act of terrorism in another country dictate our military spending (in lives and money) for the next 15 years. And that's just thinkning about this country - never mind the innocents abroad Poppies to me now signify, not the fallen from 2 world wars, defending this country from an invading army, but the bogus furrowed brow of those in power, showing themselves as thoughtful and caring when their actions are the complete opposite

Is it raining? I hadn't noticed

Another point when comparing to past offenders.. I think we are at a real watershed moment with regards to how women are treated - as I've already said, the whole 70s culture coming to light is having an impact but more boyfriends, husbands, brothsre and dads are seeing first hand (thanks to social media) just how many women have to face threats that they just never even consider - almost on a daily basis I think tolerance of this treatment is evaporating and to allow Evans to carry on as if nothing had happened (even before he finishes his sentence on licence) goes against that It should be possible for him to maintain his innocence AND show respect for the victim. It should be possible for him to work TOWARDS getting back into football, and allow rehabilitaion without his "f** you I have nothing to answer for" attitude

True loz. But you're talking about different starting points.

Who would qualify for social housing in 2015. What would cut off point be? Rent control isn't pie in sky dreaming. Depending on how it's implemented it works across many major cities
-
Building is no simple solution. Developers want to build pricey. Pricey or cheap most are bought by investors (even the cheapest don't come within most budgets) existing owners don't want values to dip too much anyway
-
"Yes, brilliant. I will sign it, sell my place in SE22 and claim my ?195 four bedder in Belgravia, toute suite" except it wouldn't work like that would it? the current rent wouldn't be reduced to ?195 a week the current tenant wouldn't be likely to leave to let you move in You wouldn't sell your place in SE22

I didn't miss anything. I accept you aren't going to discuss it on here. What I asked was if you discuss it anywhere else. Like that forum dedicated to the McCanns you mentioned before. You might or might not. But asking isn't attacking
-
You see. I ask simple questions. No name calling. No attacking. But the accusations come - "attack me further" You asked for El pibe to repost his comments and I linked to the original thread. How have I attacked you?
-
Sorry. What case is that? You say you won't discuss it on here so i am politely asking if you keep abreast or even discuss it anywhere.
-
Is that McCann forum still going sue? Do you still spend hours on it? Or even visit for a peek?
-
So... That original thread from which el pibe quoted. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,587735,page=1 His comments which several people think crossed a line come 4 or 5 pages in But if you read that far and think HIS comments are the worrying aspect of that thread... PS 4+ years later and despite sue furnishing the world with her evidence, still no child.

If I was ever accused of doing something like this, I think I would be able to find away to protest my innocence whilst also trying to make sure that nobody else was hounded from their home five times Basically he is coming across as not just a convicted rapist, but also as a prize tool with zero respect for women anyway. Even if innocent of rape, he cheats on his girlfriend, goes to a hotel where some mate says "he has a bird" and then when that "bird" is victimised and hounded he won't even speak out in her defence If a court was to clear his name (and not on some technicality but genuinely clear his name) I would still want him nowhere near me, my family or my football club
-
that's already been done anyway miga (darn it, can't find* the link) * remember where I saw it

"And I know people that were offended a few years back by the Danish cartoon thing. These are not people that would support terrorism or want to kill people." Muslims I know are mixed but I get definite impression the "offended" are on the wane - just like people who believed not going to mass in Ireland meant certain damnation. I still know peolpe like that but really they are just indulged and if they are offended by people not going to mass - that's really, totally very OK Being offended for no reason other than a weird belief doesn't bestow any rights.

I'm Spartacus
-
"The bottom line is that such a widespread publishing would insult millions of muslims " My suspicion is that many more muslims are more offended by people killing in their name than they ever are by cartoons My suspicion is that many muslims are beginning (as many Christians did before them) to realise that "this is all a bit of a sham isn't it"
