  3. I'm not saying anything until djkq describes what it's like having worn a tabard and been a chugger. Always gotta hear the other side. And James? Just don't.
  4. "Alan medic" stumbles across a thread where "narnia" speaks to "seanmacgabhann". It's like some kind of meta-thread But seriously. Was it that long ago? Feck
  5. Best thread title ever But on a practical note, play Dead Rising on xbox. You will find all possible defences there. (bowling ball? Dont mind if I do) And read world war z. And give book back to loaner

    Slutwalk

Maxxi Love your posts, etc. But yes male on male rape is prevalent and exists within a similar framework. Ie.. Well you were in such and such a bar, you looked like such and such and said blah de blah By sheer dint of volume, women suffer far far more. But the MO is the same regardless of victim's gender (Not sure that's what mr medic was getting at, but I think its what you were asking about)

I don't agree with the getting robbed if you leave the windows open analogy at all! Its even a bit insensitive Rape in most cases would be like a good mate house sitting for the umpteenth time only this time he robs the place blind But here we touch in victim being blamed again. Insurance companies have a problem because people "arrange" to be robbed and make false claim. So now it's so widespread the companies almost have to be suspicious. But blame the liars and the thieves, not the innocent

Grand But I'm trying to make a small point, which I'm suggesting has reasonably large input into the problem, and taking time to say I basically agree with everything else being said. It doesn't seem to warrant the opprobrium

No Rosie. Not that one at all. And you know it. I've already said which one But it seems clear that I am seen as the enemy on this one so I'll leave it there

    Slutwalk

False accusations don't pertain to the slutwalk thing perse. But Rosieh brought up a slew of stats and statements (where I have already said I agreed with her) I felt that false accusations play a part in rape claims not always being taken as seriosly they might. Which I thought did pertain to some of the statements made As for slutwalk itself. It's probably as useful as gay pride. Positive and maybe useful as it grows but unlikely to change the bigot/misogynist viewing at the side of the street or watching the news. Everyone else agrees with the participants anyway
  11. Can I blame predictive textery? No matter, you are quite correct. Anyone reading that post, please move the ' one character to the right. Thank you ????. I'll speak to you later

Rosie. If I had that data and it proved anything either way would you be happy with the verdict? But your first question is weird (to me). You are asking me how many rapes do I think go unreported? Without Numbers I'm guessing but my opinion is "shedloads". Where does that get us exactly If you are questioning for one second my support for anyone who has been raped I would take grave offence. But that is how it appears

    Slutwalk

Rosie Clearly I agree with pretty much everything you say, but there are problems here which the slutwalk fails to address One of the reasons the whole topic is so emotive is touched on when you say it's one of the only crimes where the victim gets the blame. And that in itself isn't always true. But the reason that some attitudes remain is that, as you know, some women like to play with the truth as well. There is a long history of women crying rape when no such thing happened. Which isn't me saying anyone assaulted is lying. But if a neutral is meant to decide which cases are real and which aren't... Well... How do you? I don't know how you pick the bones out of that but it's something slutwalk is ignoring.
  14. Where "boom" = me watching too much Entourage
  15. If you mean a picture from the web you follow moo's instructions above but make sure the address you put in is the full address to the picture itself. If it's a file on your computer you first attach as a file then when that is posted, right click and copy the URL/address and go back to moo's instructions again Boom

  17. Oh it's Nae bother to me either and I'd happily schlep along But in my experience, other people, especially relatives aren't so sanguine Not that I know relatives are involved... I was just being pedantic

  20. I can't disagree with you loz And yet and yet I suspect most people who consider themselves all those things couldn't do the job for more than a month a remain even a single of those qualities. As for people saying they took the job, that's just ignorance of how many truly shitty jobs are out there, and where people's circumstance leave them with no choice Now that sounds like I'm making excuses for bad behaviour, and I'm sure some posters will capitalise on that, but I'm just counterbalancing the relentless attacks on them. You hear plenty of motorists complaining about them but where is their side of the argument?

  22. yeah but you would still end up with millions upon millions of people posting "I got no ticket" right?
  23. Unsuccesful applicants get an exclusive window apparently It's hard to see how the system could have been much fairer tho. If you set aside a percentage of London tickets it's probably small enough to still leave most people without any tickets If it was a first come first served basis- you could have done all the planning you like for events but it would be no good to you when the phones and websites meltdown. And more tickets would have ended up with touts. Which is where you start needing to be genuinely rich to get hold of a ticket And you simply can't spend the amount of money required to take 20 million enquiries in that 1 hour window - and leave that infrastructure hanging around doing nothing for the rest of the contract Despite the years and years of negative press, it remains an event which is oversubscribed beyond comparison. that's it really. Not nioce if you don't get a ticket but you just can't deliver the finite number of tickets to everyone who wants one. All that's left is degrees of fairness (if you can define fair)
  24. can anyone tell me why we have to listen to huncamunca spout this stuff when he sells art and goes skiing, and spends so much time on a computer "easily manipulated victims of capital on the conveyorbelt of ostentatious consumption"
  25. Not once have I ever paid a blind bit of notice to who is on the lineup at Glastonbury. The one time the headliner was a must-see for me I didn't even go And it has become too bloated and cramped. But it's still one of the best parties on the planet To condemn from the safety of the couch is so.... facile. The joy of Glastonbury is nothing to do with who is on the main stages - cliche as that is - but the endless variety for miles. Says much that for the first couple of years of the forum, Glasto talk meant good-natured chitchat about times had there and now it's just people bleating about it
