  1. The old dead space. I had heard about the repetition at the time and that put me off but when I got it cheap I thought it was worth a spin How far into RDR are you? It does pick up but if I'm honest the setting and atmosphere was enough from the start to make me happy. Leaping out of the upstairs of a saloon, landing on my horse and riding off just never gets old
  2. They all spend dollars. I take your point however But do you believe the EU is pushing much further than that? I know proposals get mooted... Such is the nature. But strategically you believe it is pushing much further?
  3. It's perfectly possible to live unfettered under a "rigid umbrella" tho. Again, look to citizens of the us Good to hear there is no appetite for reversal, but I do wonder at how many previous stages people would have said the same thing
  4. ????. Which is roughly where I am too. But to get even this far took an awful lot of work an stick from doom mongers and nay sayers, right? If the whole thing implodes it will be more to do with the financial repercussions of the global banking system (I'm aware you may disagree with that but I promise not to smear you because of it)
  5. But there are pitfalls to Europe reverting to pre-EU business as well, right?
  6. so that's what a B with a close bracket does! Cool
  7. The danger with goodbyes is it leaves the person open to accusations of self-aggrandisement. Like anyone would care about SMG saying goodbye
  8. I think you are exaggerating to make a point there. [pre mexico post] I don't accept the notion that everyone against the EU is smeared. Plus, to be fair, you aren't shy of smearing either with the constant "smug" "liberal" yaadda yadda I would also argue that the wider proponets of the EU are often far from left-leaning. I would also argue there is a lack of "aggression" or "sneering" on this thread so far so I'm wondering why you are so quick to fire that gun
  9. plus the language used against the EU, or any of the projects echoes almost word for word the language used by extreme Republicans in the US - so on that score at least there are parallels and it's interesting (to me) anyway why that would be
  10. I use it not to compare structurally - just at the time the same "challenges" would have been used as evidence against even trying.
  11. I'm not dismissive of those concerns at all - not all of them anyway But as for political cultures being too different - wasn't the same said about the USA? And bitterly fought? And echoes through to the current day? But I'm not sure anyone with wits would reverse it now? Sarah Palin might so that gives you some idea.. I'm guilty of taking the "it'll be a bumpy ride, and the landing will be rough but ultimately the plane will land ok" thinking but whilst I agree with the challenges faced, the goal seems "right" to me You are correct that the tide is with you across Europe at the moment - not sure I would want to stand shoulder to shoulder with many of the more vocal exponents tho'
  12. Not many people would argue with the large or expensive bit. But I'm curious as to the model you would like to adopt. History is long, so some real world examples would be better than a libertarian "in my view" Because your nightmare is actually a lot of people's "pretty good". Living with imperfection is easy when you look at what Europe has been up to in the past, and what it needs to do in the future
  13. ba dum tsh (to both)
  14. doh of course there is an NW postcode - it's not like I haven't been that way I'm such an idiot - I just assumed that as NE had been moved, NW had as well forgive me
  15. Do they? Such as where? (that sounds crotchety in print, but I'm just curious)
  16. would you listen to this ???? guy??? http://img2.timeinc.net/ew/dynamic/imgs/070523/ari_l.jpg
  17. And london lost NE and NW because of Newcastle
  18. *Bob* IS Davinia Taylor
  19. As well as enjoying (nay, loving) Portal 2 I've finally started Dead Space. It doesn't matter that you can see all of the influences within seconds of playing, fact is it ratchets the atmosphere up to 11 and gives me the heebeegeebees (Sega Rally on Arcade this week has been a little gem as well)
  20. Discuss?? Any discussion is likely to be Agreed Agreed Agreed Agreed Part of me wants to be there when Di Canio first encounters Swindon's Magic Roundabout tho' (right next to the ground as well)
  21. For someone who eschews lazy targets, one can't help but see a pattern in your posts huncs
  22. It's back in the news Huguenot - 2 of them look set to face trial Why ???? says only the mail had the bottle and then has a pop at just the Guardian, only he can answer At the time, I remember reading this and thought it was about right.. I fear ???? may actually drive himself nuts (or become Melanie Philips) if he doesn't calm down
