Haim sound polished because it's the exact same set they've been doing for 3 years I'm with mrben. A great backdrop to a leisurely weekend.

So. Refreshment breaks = necessary prelude to advertisers formalising breaks in the middle of the game?

Rebekah Brooks cleared, Andy Coulson found guilty........
StraferJack replied to Jah Lush's topic in The Lounge
sorry Dave, my mistake. I didn't mean to suggest such a narrow focus I think I have already said on here that the jury did the right thing - evidence wasn't sufficient. So I'm not suggesting anything iffy in the due process By spidey senses I just mean Brooks, her role - not just in the trial, but over several years. Long before the scandal, not just lefties have complained about her and her methods. Murdoch's priority to save "this one" above any of the staff at NotW. When the trial was underway, Blair ringing her and not the Dowlers to offer his sympathy and support Can't say she is guilty of anything. But one would have to be objectively tone deaf to think "nothing to see here" -
Boof. Goal to Columbia. And what a goal

DaveR: All points about bias and whatnot aside.. do your spidey senses not twitch in the slightest over any of this? Genuinely nothing? -
Do I as HAVE to met Suarez go? It just keeps giving His statement to FIFA "In no way [did] it happen how you have described, as a bite or intent to bite. After the impact ... I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent. At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth."

I had no idea Huge has been "back" for a few days already - huzzah

" No one said he's being bullied or picked on. There you go with that words in to mouths thing you do." I'm reading a lot of articles. I see the phrase a lot. I didn't mean to attribute it to you or "here"

all very interesting - not really the heart of the whole case tho' -
I keep leaving it go and then people keep coming back saying "mob justice" and tabloid anyway - does everyone know that the guy who director Swingers and GO is doing a remake of Escape to Victory well now you do

" What is liberal about that opinion?" i agree with you Otta - but for some people, they will have had a peek at the social media they claim to despise, seen some of "the usual names" decry the decision and think "fire up the Guido Fawkes machine, I'm taking her for a spin" -
no - no they don't it's not because it's football (well not just that) i can't think of any public arena where that would be tolerated - can you? Tyson was roundly condemned wasn't he? What's tabloid about calling it out? It's unnaceptable behaviour - it couldn't be more straightforward It's not related to football and it's not tabloid - so why are you saying they are?

"I would just think all that indignation is exhausting." nah, keeps him young -
" I miss my child benefit; i want my child benefit; i don't really need it as the past year has proved." But that's a personal benefit as opposed to the less obvious "fabric of society" type stuff isn't it? More homeless people, longer waiting times, passport f***-ups etc

I wasn't suggesting tax had gone south i was saying there isn't enough of it going into the coffers to pay for the things we need/want

"Nope, there's hours of fun in 'liberal' hypocracy" because that's the real story here -
what quids said You can't cry "mob justice" everytime a large number people see something and say "that's not on" No-one is picking on this guy - he is doing it to himself and has had repeated and escalating punishments already Imagine if Wayne Rooney or Stevie G did it, 3 times over a number of years - do youthink they would play for their country again? I don't think so he should stop crying, accept the punishment, get treatment and stop surrounding himself with people who allow him to continue like this

"When you're on a low (/no!) income - which I was for a fairly long spell - it's easy to not be annoyed about tax, because - let's face it - you don't really pay much of it. It's easy imagine you'll be all groovy about paying more when you've got it, no worries, fair's fair. Red hot poker. Rectum." maybe it is the PAYE vs writing the cheque yourself but after many years on no money, many more years on some money, and a few years on higher rate tax I can honestly say I am less annoyed about tax than I ever was on less money. But it feels as if saying that is to invite "holier than thou comments". But to not say it is to leave the floor to people who only ever say "I really mind paying tax" i don't understand why I am supposed to mind paying tax more when I have money (well, to take home anyway - spare money is another thing) is it because Im supposed to look at the amount I pay in tax in 2014 and go "wow, that's a lot more than I ever used to earn back in the day - that's crazy!"? But we are noticing the effects of cutbacks now right? We aren't missing the extra bodies sleeping rough for example?

Soccer is the correct name. It's only snobbishness that makes modern Brits think otherwise Association football was soccer and rugby was rugger Don't be blaming foreigners

World cups can be a bit like those "100 best albums" lists The interesting stuff is all near the bottom and middle while the top 10 has been done to death a million times and is lifeless Plus. None of it matters really and a lot of it is arbitrary

good article I read last week about countries like Ireland playing the cute tax game (and how it will bite them if they aren't careful) http://www.davidmcwilliams.ie/2014/06/24/ireland-needs-a-new-tax-reality
-
But other offences get noticed and picked up on all the time. Every week. Every day in the World Cup But when someone bites someone that jumps to the top of the queue. If neymar does bite someone trust me it's all anyone will be talking about
-
The comparison to be made is I could pay a lot less, legally I'm not aware of a mechanism to opt in for more. Voting for parties who promise higher taxes maybe? Amazon and co pay armies of people to find ways to pay less tax than the "normal" rate
-
"I assume you pay as much tax as you lawfully must do, and no more? " I receive frequent calls from financial companies (working for a city bank) asking me how much tax I pay and when I tell them they tell me how much less I could pay. I tell all of them to bugger off I'm not well off, I earn a decent salary but could do with more money. But it's not right or ethical for me to legally pay less. This country needs everyone to pay as much as they can to get back on it's feet To pay for (look you're being "funny!!!") teachersandnurse etc the country needs income to increase (austerity is sold as necessary but really it's idealogical) You want to make money in this UK market, use tax benefits paid for by less well off taxpayers, get the benefit of UK education and infrastructure? Then pay the money. or one day you will run out of customers because they won't be able to afford it
