  1. some/none of the above? I'd like to see more English players play in other leagues - I don't think there is enough hunger for them to do that (talent comes into play here too) They carry a premium in the premier league which makes them very comfortable at a very young age - you see the talent at 17 then the ego kicks in, a few goodish performances gives them a name and some forgiveness space and before you know it they have wasted 6 months of the national team's time
  2. didn't stop him getting to semis 2 years later - which is when a lot of english fans come over all unnecessary I dunno - I like Roy as well but whatever his limitations (and I agree with those) , it's clearly not just "the england manager" that's the problem is it?
  3. cross reference with Swansea? It's probably more a measure of dissuasion than anything else. I'm guessing objections to the devlopment going through are partly based on extra cars taking up limited parking space? So the proviso is a good thing right? If the objection is they shouldn't even be trying it, then the outcome matters little if the objection is that without proof, the accomodation shouldn't go ahead - well that's not going to help house prices become affordable any time soon is it?
  4. dunno - what did Robson do after a disatrous '88 campaign?
  5. "things happen on the pitch" that's why we talk about all those other notorious biters
  6. ?Yeah this is totally about Liverpool, and we're totally "chippy" (whatever the hell that even means). ? Chippy in this case means sounding as if they have a chip on their shoulder ?Where have Anna or I defended him or said what he did was okay? ? Didn?t say either of you said either of those things. What I am saying is that it is you Liverpool supporters saying supporters of other teams are only picking on him because he?s a Liverpool player ?I'm sure all other club supporters would be totally different if it was their player.? Ooh look ? there it is again
  7. Once again. It's nothing to do with the amount of damage done physically But you don't want people going around biting or spitting in the game. Plus repeat offender (with all the contrition that went with it) Your kids will probably do worse things than bite people but you wouldn't shrug it off either And it has nothing to do with him playing in England. God but Liverpool supporters can be chippy sometimes
  8. Make up your mind. It's not so bad because it didn't break skin, but spitting is worse? It's a completely unnatural move for a footballer. Elbows, tackles dirty or not arise from the vocabulary of football moves Biting and spitting? Not really.
  9. Spitting does a lot less damage than a studs up challenge but we rightly don't tolerate that either It's not the potential damage, it's the lack of self control. Again and again
  10. The jury is repoted as accepting her version of events - but that isn't necessarily the case you can have "not enough" evidence to prove guilt, without accepting the version of events
  11. I?m with the ?we might not like it, but the alternative to the system we have is even worse? We all have a pop at Sue on here when without access to ALL the evidence or sitting in on all the trials she condemns the McCanns. Same thing here. We weren?t there so it?s not on us to make the judgment and say teh jury got it wrong But what DC says is correct ? if we take hee by her own words, the world?s most inept editor
  12. Abject sexism of guardian op eds? I'm sure you can provide links loz "It's view of men and women is pretty appalling." They publish Julie bindel and Tanya gold so I'm never going to agree with them. But in comparison to the weirdness do the DM they are as nothing. They are columnists who live and die by their opinions. Not the same as rank and file churnalism rife at the mail Is there a guardian equivalent to this? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2663060/Eva-Longoria-displays-figure-summer-chic-ensemble-reads-newspaper.html Woman? With beauty? And brains? Brains because she reads a newspaper???
  13. "Yummy mummy" = a casual and lazy stereotype bandied about by people who want to keep them in their place Whereas "Tart" = a casual and lazy stereotype bandied about by people who want to keep them in their place
  14. It's one report. But not an insignificant one And vastly counter to the narrative spun by government and media Strip away british affection and history, and that's a story right there And I didn't have you in mind as a "rightie" when I referred to previous thread! They know who they are (not referring to quids either btw!)
  15. I went to my first bowling alley 20 years ago. Didn't think it was cheap then. I remember my weekly budget being blown at the time
  16. Likewise!
  17. Googling Nhs top international Brought a raft of results. This is the first. From Trotskyite telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/nhs/10907823/Britains-NHS-is-the-worlds-best-health-care-system-says-report.html

    The nhs

Big thread in drawing room but that has been discontinued Short version; lefties worry about this govt and it's changes, people who won't quite call themselves righties but really are poo poo such poppycock This week. Nhs comes out top for cost, satisfaction and service amongst industrial nations And what's this? http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/jun/21/nhs-control-given-away-tory-minister A sorry sorry mess
  19. Disagree it's a complete crap hole Had many a good night there. It's not glam but it's a bowling alley
  20. Elephant and castle is closer surely ? I don't drive either and takes 20 mins to get there
  21. I know you said you have already, but specifically "Location services" in settings definitely been switched off and definitely back on again?
