  3. Everything rolo1 said. Every word Kings crisps ftw
  4. News flash from a west end pub (en route to wembley) Mixed bag of young and old. In truth, the young are cracking on with the whole "wizened" look early Mazzy Star on jukebox Situation a ok
  5. Well replied Nadia Interesting the rumor was started by someone with a history of being sceptical about the venture http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,730933,738951#msg-738951
  6. It's not harder for them than moving whole continents to get a low paying job tho, is it? I don't think young british people are quite as disadvantaged as you suggest
  7. And many of us will have personally known Australians who sleep a dozen to a room as well - I know that people do "maximise" space in a house. My question is - given that it's a more efficient use of resources than dividing same house into multiple flats for same number of people, what is your problem with that?
  8. it's not the amount of people it's the multiplication of boilers toilets kitchen sink/waste washing machines parking spaces when you divide a house into flats
  9. "A builder on a phone in programme today" let's not question that source then... 15 people living in a three bedroom house will put a lot less pressure on infrastructure than 15 people living in a converted house with say, 6 flats Not sure what your point is uncleglen The general one about victorian pipes, modern living expectations and water pressure remains valid ? not sure what bringing foreigners into it does tho?

    Shale gas

did that go on the link? Oops. I didn't think it destroyed anything either - just wanted to post the letter itself which I thought made some good points from a non stereotypical source

Interesting letter from an atypical opponent http://bit.ly/19pB8Jx
  12. Do you think you overstate the problem tho, womanodfulwich? Working conditions, pay and all of that are more important to how a society functions, than where people come from. Money is now far more fluid and international than ever before ? and people will migrate to follow the money (as Norman Tebbit so memorably advised them to) But just how disadvantaged are british workers by immigration? Is an employer paying minimum wage really going to favour someone from Poland (or wherever) over a British worker just because of where they come from? I can?t see that myself
  13. chell do you mean you want "samsonite travel crib" to be "NEW samsonite travel crib"? In which case at the bottom of that original post you should see an "Edit message" button - click that and you can change the text if you mean you want a "new" red status next to it, you won't ever see that because you created the message so it's not new to you . But other people will see that red "new" if they haven't clicked and read it already
  14. What answer would you be happy with? 100%? Less? How many British workers abroad would the economy be able to absorb if they all had to come back? What if the company itself isn't even owned by British people (like so many once British brands). Do you avoid them too?
  15. I can see it being annoying behaviour, and thoughtless perhaps But aggressive and offensive?
  16. The thought had occurred..
  17. I think a few people feel that the Draft House problem isn?t the concept but interior/building limitations (and maybe pricing to an extent, although cheap ale is also available)
  18. Thing is the Draft House does exactly that Louisa - it offers something no other bar on the Lane comes close to Hundreds of beers and the ability to have 1/3 of a pint of the draft beers, so you can sample more of them
  19. Oh lordy absolutely - the damage is horrific and every business & resident affected must be facing a nightmare My point was trying to figure out why the damage was as bad as it was If i was a business affected I might accept that water mains do break from time to time - but i wouldn't be so happy to accept why the water didn't drain away, and I might be inclined to sue whoever was responsible for that side of things
  20. does a burst main usually cause this much damage tho? What happened to drainage?
  21. Googlers beware! not much info out there related to the brewery

It's been mentioned a few times on here and yeah I've used it a couple of times They push back on weekend deliveries for the very reason you mention - better for people to be out physically supporting the shops, but acknowledging that during the week people are at work Its has worked like a dream when I?ve used it and very friendly service
  24. To be slightly nicer... You started a thread with a pointed, specific target and an aggressive directive People have countered your points with reason. Might be interesting to hear your reflections on those responses
  25. The "please do one" bitchiness? Or a different one?
