Maxxi has a long way to beat *Bob*'s 100 per cent record of predicting the result AFTER each game. Germany fans looking very glum.

Southwark Council will be creating a piazza where King's Builders yard used to be. A lift was confirmed last year and is funded under the Access for All - DfT programme. Plans for this lift is detailed in the planning application. The plans were submitted by Railtrack. Not exactly the most sensible company around and encompassed with incompetence. No one from Railtrack bothered to turn up for the Queens Road Station consultation. There are plently of space for access under the arches without the need for removing the brickwork. In fact, the main reason why Railtrack wanted to remove the brickwork was because they didn't want to spend a little bit more money. A coffee shop has been suggested for one of the arches and the stunning brickwork with stained glass windows is surely far better than Railtrack's stock design.

I'd imagine that the male mortality rate in Nunhead is related to the lack of health provisions in the area. The Pioneer Health centre on St Marys Road was closed back in the eighties.

I don't believe my comments about Southwark Council officials are unfair. The picture above shows the 19th century stunning brickwork at Queens Road Peckham station. In the last fortnight, Southwark have granted permission to have this architecture removed from the station despite Peckham Society and a number of local residents objecting to it. Not quite sure why you're referring me to Peckham Society and Peckham vision. Perhaps you're underestimating my knowledge. Anyway, I'm fully aware of their work and I took an active interest in learning Peckham's history when I was just 12 years old.

No doubt, they will have the latest idiots causing more damage than what the Luftwaffe did during the second world war. I also agree with DF & DJKQ.

Rooney puzzled me. In the last world cup he wanted to play deep but in the last game he was the further man forward. Rooney was the ideal man to trouble Pirlo. Was Hodgson really poor tactically or was it a case of England players lacking a football brain? You could lead the horse to the water...

I do agree England were the better side in the first 20 minutes or so. But Rooney & Welbeck took turns in closing down Pirlo. If you stop Pirlo then you stop the Italians. I couldn't understand why they didn't continue to close down Pirlo. Really can't. However, you have to admire the Italians for their work rate that made our players look pretty ordinary. I also felt that England strikers were playing far too forward which didn't help with link up play between midfield.

Pirlo, being the oldest outfield player, ran more miles than any England player on the night. England allowed Pirlo too much space and time on the ball. Despite Italy's dominance they didn't create that many clear cut chances.

Shilton had a poor game against Poland during the World Cup qualifying game in 1973. This led to his international wilderness. Anyway, I thought all Scottish keepers gain their status within two years though not for the right reasons.

Pirlo was the difference in this game. A true midfield general. England back five played a great game. It's a shame our forward line just went AWOL.
-
I think Hart has already surpassed Shilton in ability. Especially as he is an England regular at an young age while Shilton was not an automatic choice for England in the early eighties. But I may need to check with Wikipedia just in case I get my facts wrong. ;-)

I thought the Spain game was fascinating and I could watch them for hours on end. Spain weren't playing grandmaster chess, they were playing effective simple football, ball to feet, team mates giving options to receive a pass and not afraid to pass the ball back.

Best ever football song. Even with the John Barnes rap. @DulwichFox, I put my money to an Italian bookmaker, obviously. B)

Yesterday's game reminded me of Everton during the eighties where they compressed the midfield with a high line back four to stifle midfield play. For France to play this tactic they needed a midfield who can pass their way through. So I'm rather puzzled to why Malouda was chosen to play in this position as he's mainly a left sided attacking player. France lost possession countless times as the Spanish intercepted their passes as a side effect of this tactic. France conceded a poor first goal because Malouda failed to track Xabi Alonso. This is why I prefer Milner over Walcott for the Italy game and underlines the importance of being able to do the ugly hard work much appreciated by footballers than fans. According to BBC's preview of today's game, England is expected to field an unchanged side. There was an even a mention of 'Catenaccio' to England's playing style. Let's hope Italy's manager does not get any fancy ideas from Wikipedia to end Catenaccio in Celtic style, hey Mick Mac!

Both Iceland and M&S do not cater for my tastes but I do recognise that people should not be economically excluded from their local high street.

Today, I spoken with one of the Iceland management and heard some interesting news. Apparently, Iceland has taken out an injunction because they felt they offered a fair price for their lease but M&S has offered a further 10% on top of theirs. Iceland was due to close down in June but because of the court case they will be open until September at least. It seems Iceland is battling to stay as the store is still making money. Iceland have no plans to enlarge their store because a similar proposal was turned down quite some time ago. DavidH has mentioned the term flatliners implying that M&S is progress. But for some people like my good self, M&S represents a backward step in terms of quality and taste. Everything is relative I suppose! Mind the gap.

Chippy, no point in arguing with the likes of Alan Medic and Mick Mac with their illogical thinking. Sorry guys, but as the video shows, Ukraine was offside - end of discussion.

@*Bob* If you understood football, which you certainly don't judging by your previous posts, playing football does give you an insight to the game rather than just watching it. This reminds me of a time when my line manager thought she knew more about football because she occasionally watches Arsenal. This is the type of daft comment *Bob* would say for sure. @Mick Mac, have not heard of Catennacio?
