Just making a point. But since you're not able to ascertain facts then whatever opinions you have about me are fundamentally flawed. -
Why is India Still a Recipient of British Aid Money...

They also undermined India's world class textile industries at the time. http://fyeahnoamchomsky.tumblr.com/post/24369122415/standard-economic-history-recognizes-that-state -

I couldn't make a proper analysis of City's performance until they played Utd again in October. The charity shield game was interesting as City made a defensive mistake which led to them losing but I felt, at the time, City's performance was nearly as good as Utd's. When City thrashed Utd 6-1 and were five points clear of their nearest rival I didn't say city were going to take the premiership by storm. Instead, I gave a measured response that Utd were not playing well since the loss of Cleverley and it would be tight towards the end of the season. Is my thinking flawed in any way?

"If Man City are to be genuine title contenders this season then they need to acquire a top notch playmaker in midfield." I felt they needed to acquire a top notch player in midfield and later a central defender. Silva is too weedy for my liking. However Rodwell is a very good player and can play in both positions. You did say towards end of october October was last year, unless I'm seriously mistaken. eta: corrected format tag.

There are still high levels of poverty in India which needs addressing. The space pragramme is an entirely different issue. India needs to develop their industries as one of the solutions to tackle poverty. Let's not forget India's contribution to the empire and exploitation of Indian workers. -
Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Very surprised at City's lack of spending this > summer. Do not underestimate the mental strength aspect of the game. Also Tevelz will act as though he was a major signing. As I said last year, it's going to be tight between City & Utd again.

I think Edcam requires cast iron proof as reports of visual sightings are not enough for him. -

I sometimes travel from Queens Road Peckham to Euston and the journeys shown on the self service ticket machine at London Bridge looks like a dog's dinner. However, it does eventually show up as a single fare for the journey between Queens Road Peckham and Euston.

No, it's not just about a modern building. The library is situated in the heart of a community. A significant point. There are plenty of people in the video. You need to watch all of it and not just the first minute! Staff at Peckham library I remember taking my folding bike into Peckham Library and the lower grade staff were making a scene despite the fact that their manager allowed me. It seems the lower grade staff were making up their health and safety rules when I asked them where they kept their rules and got blank reply. Bit silly really, as Southwark has aspirations to be a bike friendly borough and yet these people were acting like as though they were running the library. Ask them a simple question about library services and they fail to deliver a credible answer. My concern is not about the quantity of staff but actually the quality of staff. No point in carrying deadwood at council tax payers expense. I really felt sorry for their manager to having such disappointing staff.

Legal advice needed re: local business/complaint
Undisputedtruth replied to 3kids's topic in The Lounge
@Sidhue TBH, most contracts these days are unfairly weight against the consumer. Trying to convince a judge is tricky. Personally, I wouldn't involved in too much technical details. A letter of complaint needs to be sent as soon as possible. Otta has made a good. So I'd have them clarify what was the actual difficulty in writing. -
Good for them too!

Pricing is not always an indicator of quality. Unfortunately too many people think it is and so daft enough to pay more for a property.

Not a good idea, Jeremy. Could be done for trespassing. -
Oh yeah, best thing is that there isn't an estate agent in sight. No M&S or Tesco. I'd say Nunhead is a truly organic area. Made up of real shops and people untainted by commercialism.

I love the wheelchair races. Much better than forumula 1 racing.

I've used Tops several ago but I gather there has been a change of ownership recently. Much better than Bajan Spice. More for your money and certainly more spicier. Hollydale Tavern is okay. Large Snooker table and TV screen. Seems to have liven up in the last few years since the change of ownership.

Through the grapevines, apparently you're famous for it in ED. In fact, eating establishments see it as a sign that their food is of high quality.

I thought it was just me being greedy :) No, it's not you being greedy for once! Nandos have introduced a larger size portion for extra money which is about the same size as the original portions. @Gidget I do agree better value options elsewhere than Bajan Spices. Shame really as I like to support local businesses though I prefer home cooking than takeaways. Had some heated discussions with the owner. Mind you, I've yet to see a West Indian establishment that can match or even exceed my mum's cooking. @edcam I think everyone knows Soper's has the best fish for miles. Soper's is handy as it's just around the corner for me. Hehe.

Na Pura is run by genuine Portuguese - a good place if you're looking for home made Nando's style chicken but without the commercialism and expense. Well it seems Nando's portions are getting more smaller and more expensive each year. I must admit, I'm not a great fan of our Chinese takeaways in Nunhead, the Golden Noodle used to be really good until a change in ownership some years ago. The Chinese Wall is a chip shop/chinese takeaway. Okay, but nothing to write home about, though the portions are large. There used to be a great Chinese takeaway on Nunhead Grove. Not sure if it's still there but they had a great reputation fo high quality food. I'm not aware of a Lebanese eating place on Queens Road especially as I know the area very well. Crossways cafe is okay but not connoisseur standard. Bejan Spices has good tasty food but the owner is pretty tight on portion size. Especially on salads. http://www.spices-se15.co.uk/ is another great Indian takeaway. You can taste the fresh ingredients. Nunhead is pretty fortunate to have two very high quality curry takeaway establishments.

I've visited libraries in Lambeth, Lewisham, Tower Hamlets, and Westminster so I can see EJTH and other's point of view. Southwark's libraries have got a lot better since the dark ages of the nineties but are nowhere near to the standard set by Tower Hamlets. Four years ago, I've visited the ideal Store in Canary Wharf and was struck by its clean bright interior and wide choice of publications. Lambeth is pretty dire when it comes to libraries, though. Here's a video of one of Tower Hamlets' smaller libraries. @EJTH The library at Canada Water is pretty good and possibly comes close to your experience in Tower Hamlets.

Not forgetting that public procurements are audited. -
Don't forget Frog on the Green. John, the proprietor of the deli, takes great pride in his food. He's also a trained chef and provides meals. For takeaways, we have the award winning http://www.2sisterstandoori.com/ . Us Nunheaders understands what is good food. No need for silly shops like M&S.

Legal advice needed re: local business/complaint
Undisputedtruth replied to 3kids's topic in The Lounge
Sounds like a clear case of breach of contract as they decided not to continue with the service. They were aware of your child's condition so they should have said from the outset whether it was a problem or not. step 1 Put your complaint in writing and send by recorded delivery, making clear that they were told that your child had a condition prior to when the contract was signed. That not offering a service is unreasonable and a breach of contract. step 2 As Fuschia said, have a long chat with them but record details on a letter and send for a written response using recorded delivery. Be as co-operative and polite as possible but maintain your position that this is a breach of contract on their part. step 3 Start small claims procedure if step 2 fails. The letters you've sent through recorded delivery will certainly help your case. The judge will want to see evidence that (a) they were aware of your child's condition prior to entering into contract and (b) you were active in seeking an amicable solution. Be careful not to rely on oral evidence as they may lie. Keep copies of letters and recorded delivery signatures so they can't say they didn't receive their letter. DDA does not apply in contract law but mental capacity does. However, it's completely irrelevant to your case. Alternatively, you may want to cut your losses so to speak as court can be stressful and cost money. Charlottekb's suggestion might be better for you.
