I saw him. Boy that was weird. There were so many enjoyable little moments during the ceremony it made it worth watching. I was particularly pleased that in this age of the celeb, the torch was lit by 7 unknowns.
  2. I just think that the excitement generated by seeing torch bearers is an indication of how shallow life is. What does it all mean? What are you thinking when you rush out of the office to see it?

Gervais/David Beckham, are the one and the same?

  5. Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread for left handed people? There's a lot to discuss such as cheque books and paying in books.
  6. I think getting to work during the Olympics might qualify.
  7. Frankly the story is slightly implausable. Who would leave their car parked illegally for hours in ED especially if they worked here? If the car is so badly damaged it would have made a lot of noise and there are bound to have been witnesses in one of the shops. Will tom_tom ever return to the forum after his one and only post? I wonder.
  8. Ah go on.......tell us.Go on go on go on..........
  9. Late bet on Ernie saw me in profit.
  10. "- today, a group of people took up place in the front seating area and started singing, accompanied by a trumpet - if you were within a hundred yards, you will have heard their rendition of Ring of Fire. It was early evening and, with the trumpet, very loud - perhaps just the wrong time/place?" I live nearby and heard this and thought it was kinda nice that people were happy. I was caught with my guard down though and missed a good chance to complain.
  11. dulwichgirl2 did say was from or purported to be from the US. Figure what?
  12. Any guesses though, if you are not an American, as to what goes on inside their heads that they don't see that it would be better if guns were outlawed for the greater good of its people? It almost seems as if the only thing that truly shocks Americans into taking action is a threat from outside the country such as 9/11. Sad as it may be, the fairly regular mass murders by Americans on Americans is an American right, or so it seems. It's potty if you ask me.
  13. http://www.sacbee.com/2012/07/21/4646358/viewpoints-gun-lobbys-gag-rule.html I really do not understand why (some) Americans appear so convinced that it is a right to own a gun. This is an interesting article from a local paper in Sacramento after the latest mass murder in the US. Maybe an American can explain?
  14. Are we talking SA 'A' v SA 'B' here. I'm no expert, just asking like.
  15. I once ran for a bus and reached the stop just after the doors were closed. I pressed the emergency open door button and entered the bus. Needless to say I was thrown out.
  16. A few days in Seville to meet her family and get married and then off to Scotland which was a treat for the OH as she'd never been. About 10 days between the two.
  17. A bit of the Paul McGrath about him in terms of injury and the ability to keep playing without being able to train. Probably didn't drink as much though.
  18. "TJMPs role, in respect to her constituents, was to go on the telly to reassure us that the ?240 we're contributing through the council tax would be turned into almost tangible benefits, worth ?700 or more to each and every household in the Metropolis. And for that, we should be grateful." How, where, when...........do I apply to the council for my share?
  19. What a great name civilservant has. Suits him to a tee.
  20. I've had a look and they seem to be ?1,000+ from London. Can anyone suggest a better option like flying from somewhere else other than London and then to Brisbane to reduce the cost? Thanks in advance.
  21. Hello Geeks. Your assistance is required please. My laptop has stopped communicating with my wifi printer. I've uninstalled everything and reset the printer to it's original settings and started again. The wifi light is on, on the printer. However when I try to use the software for the Epsom to connect the PC wirelessly, it fails as soon as it starts searching for a wifi device. The printer works when the cable is connected directly to the PC. I use Windows 7 but never had a problem before. It just suddenly stopped working. Any ideas?
