  1. It must be difficult to manage a modern life if you are not allowed to be on the Electoral Roll. In search of "hawthorn hedges" I re-read the 1989 ecological field study of One Tree Hill. On the top of the hill is some "relict acid grassland". Apparently this is rare stuff that can be destroyed by one tree in the wrong place. It might be necessary to cut back some trees/bushes/shrubs to the 1989 habitat disposition. John K
  2. Loz Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > As BB said, there are two changes at play [...] So this is seen as a forced asset transfer from amateur borrow-to-let landlords to professional buy-to-let landlords who already have 15 or more properties. Also, the elasticity of effective demand will march in step with increased rental asking prices.
  3. So putting "ethnic" hairdressers in a "courtyard" as a specialist enclave is OK?
  4. OK, I'm lost on this landlord thing. Is it being said that: 1) Borrow-to-let amateur landlords in financial trouble will have to attempt to make distress sales. 2) The increase in supply caused by this glut of properties on the market will make house prices at completion rise.

The ball-players are occupying land planned for burials a long time ago. John K

I'm amazed. John K
  8. These are the trees at risk as mentioned in the cemetery thread. John K

  10. Oh dear. Who owns Bournemouth Close? Who will get the rental income? Not gentrification but ghettoisation. Very bad thing. John K
  11. But what about all those trees in the way of completing the Peckham Coal Line? Some trees good, some trees bad?
  12. Does this mean you are campaigning against the Peckham Coal Line? John K
  13. As HB for pensioners is demand led this may result in the reduction of LHA rate.
  14. An interesting future change to welfare streams is para 1.240 of the Red Book. Devolving Housing Benefits for pensioners to Local Authorities is an interesting development.

  16. The Southwark Woodfolk think burials contaminate our water.
  17. The Red Book is a densely packed 151 pages this year. The contents are rather different than the emphases in Mr Osborne's speech or the journalism I have read before. This was unexpected: Para 3.11 "Mary Seacole Memorial Statue Appeal ?240,000 ? to facilitate a memorial statue to commemorate Mary Jane Seacole; nurse and heroine of the Crimean War" The detailed taxation implementation document is due to be published on 9 December.
  18. The original coal line sidings were a bit of an oddity. They were "foreign" railway lines. They were "owned" by the LNWR (London and North Western Railway). As "foreign" lines payment was required to the LB&SCR (London, Brighton and South Coast Railway) for the LNWR to run over the LB&SCR metals. Theses charges were calculated by the RCH (Railway Clearing House). So for history, a quick consultation with the NRM (National Railway Museum, about LNWR, LB&SCR, and RCH records relating to Peckham might prove productive. The RCH map of the LNWR sidings is readily available on-line. John K
  19. Read what I wrote, Loz. There is no attack there. American Citizens (USA) are not permitted to vote in Southwark Council elections. Australians are permiited to vote in Southwark Council elections. I checked the with Electoral Commission . John K

  21. Our two UPS units were doing yo-yos for very short periods yesterday. Some sub-second power cuts and dirty electricity. Several years ago when I escalated my complaint about poor electricity supply I was told it was the fault of Southwark Council. John K
  22. See page to 2 of the accounts for the value of the assets before depreciation.
  23. Eileen, Has anyone retained any documents from about 10-15 years ago when this was pitched to developers as the Cerise Road development site? John K
  24. Mr Schaeffer is a new arrival and guest in our area who is telling us how to bury our dead. I'm interested in how these things are managed in his hometown. Do American Citizens have votes in our local elections? John Kennedy
  25. Thanks for the map, henryb. Looks to be an appropriate development. John K
