  1. I don't think any of you have actually looked at the building in front of the station. John K
  2. Quite right. But, the question is: "Has there ever been a legally executed parking penalty in respect of Strakers Road". John
  3. Different legal processes. Different penalty levels. John K
  4. > You aren't allowed to park on the Grass. Its a Park. Exactly the point. A RTA penalty should not apply. A penalty under Southwark Council park bye-laws could. John K
  5. All four wheels on the grass/earth, and no part of the car over-hanging the "road". John K
  6. Did anyone get a parking ticket where no wheel was resting on Strakers Road? John K
  7. Is it on the wrong side of the railroad track from the Copeland Cultural Quarter? John K

  9. > " can you tell me where Rye lane is please...Im looking for Franks bar ...." And your response was...? John K
  10. Ritzy comes to East Dulwich "Village". Yes, "village": see web-site corporate pages. John K
  11. jb1000, I would not accept an oral assertion from a Thames Water employee without supporting evidence. It is possible, but unlikely, that Thames Water own the land of the unadopted part of Homestall Road, as it is on the wrong side of the original hedgerow land boundary. None of the various planning application documents seem to suggest that Thames Water has made a "claim" on the land. There's an example here: http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeDocs&TheSystemkey=9530409 Further applications can be found using the search term "Thames Water". The official address is Cheltemham Road. When I sold a house on Homstall Road the landowner was "unkown", but with the possiblity it was the legal sucessor of the Bowyer family. Not a can of worms to open. John K
  12. Interesting legal point about leaving waste on an unadopted road. John K
  13. Who and where are DYC? John K
  14. > Southwarks Arboricultural Officer What qualifications were required for this appointment? John K
  15. Did you know that there are hornbeams in Kew Gardens and that this demonstrates the gardens are ancient woodland? John K
  16. You might like to supplement your reading: Conservation of Black Poplar (Populus nigra L.) by Joan Cottrell [2004]. (I can't get a URL to work - but a search engine will find it). The point I am making is that you should not take a knife to a black poplar. John K
  17. As far as I'm aware there are NO black poplars in Southwark. See the black poplar species action plan for London. The black poplar is an endangered species. If you have come across a previously unidentified black poplar pollard you should notify a competent person BEFORE taking a cuttng. 18. Thank you, IngridB, An excellent idea. I wish I'd thought of the additional use of the car park. Don't worry about the gallery's old brickwork: the west wall of the gallery is a fake, and a few coats of water soluble PVA before the painting starts should suffice. John K
  19. Any news of the Dulwich Picture Gallery offering its extensive brickwork for the 2014 street art? John K
  20. A] Is it a "good idea" to plant a non-native lombardy poplar in the wild in our valley? B] The only "suitable" sites in our valley seem to be those owned by Southwark Council. John K
  21. Area around the Lucerne Valley is interesting. John K
  22. "In the 1870s large Victorian villas with extensive gardens were established on Sydenham Hill, and the wood is now a unique mix of old woodland, Victorian garden survivors and recent woodland." So where is this "old woodland", or is it only old like me? It's not the former railway land, nor the Victorian gardens. Interesting mis-use of the word "demonstrate" in your quotation. John K

  24. But... It was you who said so here. What is your source? John K
  25. > some of it is older woodland Which bit is that? John K
