  1. Agreed - 1 award = meaningless also, too many awards = meaningless 10 ish would seem OK. To avoid manipulation how about a requierment that people have been EDF members for 6 months to be eligible to vote?
  2. The service this morning was bloody, the only upside was the 45 minutes spent chatting to Annasfield waiting for a very late train, in the cold. I am sure the tossers do it on purpose so that we are pathetically happy when the service works as advertised.
  3. SO much smut leaps to mind!
  4. I am SO glad it was an immaculate conception. No insult intended BN5 - but you are a married man after all. Sean McGabhann, brace yourself, you need changing and burping and it would seem I am the Very Virgin to do it.
  5. I am single. I have a fine collection of comics, all in order and sorted by theme. My spare room contains a scale model of the Berlin S-Bahn system. It is fully operational and runs ABSOLUTELY on time. I iron my own clothes, all of them, especially my underwear, with starch. My kitchen knives are sharpened every Tuesday. They glitter. I have a cactus called Fluffy, he ran away and then came back. Shoes are polished on Wednesdays, never before, that would be excessive. I also had a lactating donkey called Mrs Dobbin. Dulwichmum killed her in the Quiet Room. I am currently building a half scale model of a Blue Whale from matchsticks. It is taking some time as I do not smoke. Once completed I hope to create a diarama combining the S-Bahn with the Blue Whale. I rather like the Tijuana Brass and am looking forward to playing their Christmas themed long playing record during the Festive Holiday. On my own. Strangely, I am still single. I feel it is time to find a life partner. This major departure has been stimulated by an unexpected need. I need to fill the header tank of my central heating system with more water. It is a two person job. It will need to be refilled regularly, hence the relationship would be a long term commitment. Interested?
  6. It might be easier to have make the choice by Pole. Put all the names in a hat and ask a friendly Plumber to pull out the remaining 11.
  7. I watched a Swedish version on BBC4 the other night. It was even more ... Swedish.
  8. I think that the monthly drinks are a good way of people introducing themselves, people know when they are (mostly) and this is particularly important for those with young families who need to plan ahead. Of course, as many peole do, there is nothing to stop people organising other activities if they would like .....
  9. OK - Phoenix on the 9th, if other people are happy with this. Next year = organised Rota.
  10. Why do the festive clementines go mouldy so quickly. and Why do the Christmas Tree sellers outside the EDT think that they can get away with asking ?10 for a 1 foot tall "tree"?
  11. Rather than have a monthly ruck over where we go for the next drinks, Georgia and I would like to create a venue rota for next year. A bit organised perhaps, but, whilst we enjoy the drinks we dont enjoy some of argie-bargie that goes into identifying where we go. So - please throw your collective hats in the ring - where would you like to go? The criteria might be: big enough to hold a group of 30plus people, any place that would welcome 30 plus strangers turning up out of the blue, good accoustics - i.e. where people can hear each other, other added value features might be karaoke (a big hit at the Wishing Well), open fires (for winter meets), beer garden (for summer drinks). Also, the places really need to be within reasonable hitting distance of ED, i.e walkable within 30 minues. If any pub/bar owners who feel that they fit the bill would like to volunteer, please post here as well.
  12. What are the appropriate places within ED? We have lots of bars and lively pubs, but these dont make for good Forum drinks venues as they tend to be too loud or too small or too crowded for a large group of people to mingle. Perhaps SE15 has a larger number of accessible pubby pubs? Anyway, 2 January it is - at the Gowlett, we can all compare festive scars and sip small libations. For next year we should create a rota - it goes some way to ensure that people feel that their favourite places are being given a go. Frankly it will also reduce the stress on the people who organise the drinks. So, perhaps now is the time to throw your ideas into the ring - I will start a new thread.
  13. Ample room for new faces at each and every drinks. Chatting to Georgia re the next drinks, which are on on 2 January, we wondered about the Gowlett? It may be a bit slow as it is so close to the festive season, but chopping and changing dates is never a good idea as it just mucks everything up. The Gowlett is a traditional pub with plenty of space and is close to the ED heartlands.
  14. I dont think that Nichiyobi has posted yet. I have sent her a PM to encourage her to join in. Easy to lose Belle in a crush ...
  15. I am liking the viking.
  16. Some classics as ever. Just what was Floating Onion doing behind Buggie?
  17. Perhaps a VERY big tag would help Levis burn off a few more calories as he waddles around the garden?
  18. Are you sure its a cat? Looks more like a bean-bag to me. I could be wrong of course.
  19. Happy Birthday Floating Onion - 30 years young!
  20. Tiny tree (2 foot?) on North Cross Road - ?25. Madness.
  21. Lets go for the 16th. How about a trip to Omrith for a festive Forest Hill Road Feast?
  22. Some interesting singing. A revelation. The look on Georgia's face when told that they didn't sell Pinot Grigio. Georgia drinking a pint of lager. Georgia's Karaoke :-$.
  23. Great night, good to see new faces. I think the pub itself rather divided people. Some loved it, some not so impressed. I had a fascinating conversations including foreign relations and human rights and one over the urinals with an old chap about his choice of Soho based entertainment. Something he would only indulge in after pension day. Some stunning Karaoke. But .... Oh Brendan................................................... :))
  24. Buy your fruit and veg from Sainsburys. The produce there is always dirt free and nice and shiny. The same is true of the meat.. and the tins.
