  1. I am big on outrage, but small on delivery you will be glad to hear.
  2. I feel even queasier now ..........
  3. What about the "Robin of the Green Wood" idea D-M? :)
  4. I feel a little queasy ............
  5. I think that the intention is to knock down some of the old blocks and replace them with more modern dwellings - much as they have done on the North Peckham estate and in Bermondsey. They have been emptying the flats for some time now. This has been on the agenda for years and there is a section of residents who are resisting.
  6. Its on the 13th of May - so a EDF May-Pole would seem appropriate. We could all dress up as yokels (smock, straw-on-bottom-lip, IPod loaded with the Wurzels) and prance round in a merry way. I am sure DM has knowledge of the appropriate weaving techniques. For the maypole we could chop down one of the scabby trees on Goose Green - nobody would miss it, except the dogs. Other spring-fair tomfoolery could be the usual white elephant stall - selling cast-off latvian au-pairs, apple-bobbing with real Bobs, an Ibo-nut shy and we could finish by re-creating "Robin of the Greenwood" whereby we all grap a person that takes our fancy and have it away with wild abandon on The Green after sunset. If it was good enough for the ancients - it should be good enough for us.
  7. Robert Plant lives in a small village in the Midlands were my bezzie mate lives. Kind of odd standing next to he-that-is-a-god in the queue in the village shop.
  8. Ibo. I love you. I disagree with you - but you are true to your convictions and hold your corner in the face of much abuse - some of it from me. BUT. There was never a time when there were butchers round EVERY corner. People would have had terrible health problems and an awful diet ........ then again
  9. I was here 12 years ago - come to think of it I was here 19 years ago and next years is my whateveritis anniversary. In those halcyon days there was a rubbish Gateway supermarket and a rubbish Coop supermarket. That was it. The locals had rickets. Some things dont change. Presumably Julie moved to Australia to access the fresh citrus fruit that they have in those parts.
  10. Thats the chappy! Thanks Eliza.
  11. Yes do it. Its a good place to live and the public transport isnt THAT bad - although we would never admit it in public. You can get a train from ED station to London Bridge about every 10 to 20 minutes depending on the time - its 12 minutes into London Bridge. The 176 bus takes you to Oxford Street, the 185 to Victoria and the 40 to the City. They also go southbound to places that are marked on maps as "Here be dragons" - but they might be worth exploring if you have a pyth helmet and gaters. You have Kings College Hospital at Denmark Hill, loads of Doctors and more Dentists than you can shake a stick at. Lordship Lane is paved in gold and the police station is an architecturaly sublime edifice. We have a host of famous celebrity residents, whose names I cannot remember. The "real" cockerney locals all have rickets and so can be easily spotted limping down The Lane. They dont visit the hospital, doctors or dentists very often and dont patronise the fresh food shops - hence the rickets. They do provide some delightful local colour with their cheerful gap toothed grins, willingness to collect rag and bones and an endless stream of cockerney songs that they are want to spontaneously burst into when more that 2 of them meet on a street corner.
  12. Reminds me of a classic toy shop at home in the Midlands. It was a standing joke that if he (Harry Hughes) didnt have what you wanted - it would "Be in on Thursday". Thursday presumably being the day he went to the wholesaler. I remember a red tractor and trailer with great affection ........
  13. As ever he Politicianshave it arse-abut-face whereby people are forced onto a public transport system that has not been beefed up to cope.
  14. The Bill was always being filmed around here at some point. I used to live on Ivanhoe Road (SE5) and one day found my road blocked off by police cars. I wandered up to the road block to ask the on-duty Copper what was going on - "Filming" said he, "eh?" said I, "The Bill" said he, "So are you a Copper?" said I, "No an actor" said he, "Get out of the way and let me get to my home you pillock" said I - sort of. Seen at ED station lately - the bloke who plays Foyle's side kick in "Foyles War" and the bloke who plays the lead in the British programme about posh-fraudsters with Napoleon Solo in it. Names are not my forte.
  15. Anybody get any recommendations for a good Indian restaurant in central London? Doesnt have to be expensive or posh - but it must be halal as the person whose birthday we are celebrating is Muslim. Brick Lane has been mooted, but my experience in Brick Lane has been rather disappointing. Ta. Namaste.
  16. I also staryed in - I was feeling pretty tired after a business jaunt to Estonia. Boring.
  17. Just to clarify - the photo above is not me. PLEASE believe me !!!
  18. Just got back from a business trip to Estonia. Cold, grey and snowy; but the people are lovely. It would seem that the bloody Postie had nicked all my Valentine's day cards. I am not impressed. I tried telling the Police, but they referred me to the Maudsley Hospital - which is in Camberwell and so way off topic. Anyway, good to be back. Anybody receive any surplus Valentine's day cards they can pass on to me?
  19. Dulwichmum you are stunningly gorgeous woman who is the siren of the site. Did you see the BAFTAs last night?
  20. There are photos of me on the last "Night Out" thread - or the follow up one. Ginger bloke, pink shirt - you may be less intrigued!!
  21. I dont know of any specifically, but a stroll up and down Lordship Lane should be productive. Keep us informed of where this gaggle of beauties will be ..................!!
  22. DM - all things are relatively. To follow Shambles advice I am am slightly gorgeous (if you squint) and slightly wealthy (on the day after pay day, before my morgage payment).
