Its my inability just to accept your views that is the problem here. Again. Iceland or M&S, it makes no difference. They are what they are, retail outlets in a retail unit, little will change apart from the branding on the lorries. All else is detail which is largely irrelevant to the holistic picture.
  2. You are just like a school yard bully. Its laughable. You are irritated because people wont agree with you and you have to have the last word. Dont you.
  3. The fact that only a few of us can be bothered to challenge UDT and his diatribes does not mean that we are in the minority. I guess that most people accept that it is just going to happen and so cant be bothered to wade in.
  4. Not lazy thinking at all. The arguements put forward are spurious .... more lorries, bigger lorries, more cars, more people ..... DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING!! The Lane is a retail area, it has always been a retail area, Iceland is a shop, it and its predecessors have been there for alot longer than most of the local residents. Its much like moving into a house opposite a church and then whingeing about the bells ringing. The Antis are making alot of noise and shoot down anybody that might actually welcome M&S, thus the Pros are little to be seen. A few people making alot of noise, supported by one or two local politicos jumping on a bandwagon for a spot of point scoring, does not make a civic revolt. It is NIMBY-ism. If M&S were opening in Forest Hill, nobody in ED would complain, because it wouldnt be in their backyard.
  5. You may find that the quote for tree removal goes up if you keep the timber. The excuse being that the income that they get from selling the logs subsidises the cost of the tree removal. Its codswallop, but has happened.
  6. You know the way the rota works - every month a different day in sequential order, Monday to Thursday and back again. This is to ensure that people can plan their diaries and allows those with standing commitments on a particular day of the week to come to most if not all meetings.... and besides, I am then holiday for two weeks, so, tough :)
  7. You are transfixed by Victoria being the only destination for people using the SLL. Most simply pass through Victoria to points east or west. The ELLE allows them to go east or west without going through Victoria and so reduces the pressure on that station.
  8. The claims that the Victoria trains will be even more packed with the end of the SLL does not take into account that some people will use the ELLE instead of the Victoria trains because for them it is more convenient. At the moment everybody is syphoned into LB and Victoria regardless of their destination. Those that wish to go east or west will be able to use the ELLE to avoid the central London bottle necks.
  9. "The Cherry Tree" - like it.
  10. Well, maybe, but the manufacturers of the traditional TX have had a monopoly for years and their prices for vehicles and spares have been very high. This because of the technical requirements placed upon Black Cabs and the relatively low production volumes of TX. Technology has finally caught up and so mainstream manufacturers can meet those requirements without an excessive investment in R&D. They can manufacture variants of existing models and so benefit from lower costs through high production volume. Mercedes got in to the market first a few years ago. They met the challengingly small turning circle requirement by grafting 4 wheel steering onto an existing people mover design. Now Nissan have followed them and it wont be long before other manufacturers pile in too.
  11. Surely the whole point of the ELLE is to allow routes into central London to be reduced? London Bridge and Victoria are already overloaded and just cant take anymore passenger growth. ELLE allows people to avoid central London and so reduce that pressure. We will still have connections to central London and will have new connections to east and west central London. The current set up is indeed useful, but reducing traffic through London Bridge and Victoria is vital.
  12. Entry into the water, paramount. Minimum splashing and no curling.
  13. Perhaps, but having a poo "during" the 100 metres is impressive. That implies that El Pibe had time to leave the room, enter the loo, drop his slacks, drop the load, use the loo paper (one up, one down and one to polish) and re-enter the room, all within the period of the race. Like I said, impressive.
  14. I quite like /-ing myself.
  15. Top inanity there Aquarius M. Good move.
  16. This afternoon the 484 bus arrived at East Dulwich station shortly after I did. This was quite pleasent.
  17. Maybe Ms Ford was having a hard day?

Please try harder to be less interesting.
  19. All along the Southbank
  20. There is only one train an hour from Braintree to London Liverpool Street. It goes on the hour, every hour.
  21. Some Olympic Park events will have finished by then, so numbers will probably even themselves out. The major change is the reduction of commuters because of holidays, changed travel patterns or people working from home. What might cause problems is if numbers of people see that travel links are OK and start travelling as normal.
  22. Millennium bug anybody?
  23. It will be interesting to see whether he has been the victim of press hype. Perhaps he isnt as good as we were told?
