The Dj's have some responsibility in this. To rather loftily say that "nobody is to blame" rather ignores the fact that people have brains, they think and so can identify what is or is not an appropriate thing to do. A tree, in a storm, falling and killing somebody is not to blame. Phoning a hospital, seeking medical information about a sick patient which you have no right to, is not appropriate in any circumstances. In this case, it pushed one of the victim's of their prank over the edge. That she was possibly close to the edge beforehand is not relevant. They were not to know, but they should not have made the call in the first place. Their actions led, in part, to the suicide of somebody else. They have that to answer for.

New out of town shop on East Dulwich Road
Michael Palaeologus replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
James, you have to stop this. It is politico, rabble rousing at its most base. You identify a planning application that could be used to whip up the NIMBY instincts of folk, you post on the EDF in a negative, partisan tone which is bound to get a noisy minority agitated, this then allows you to act as people's champion against the wicked developers. As DJKQ notes, people who are unconcerned about the development are not going to email you, we have better things to do. Your objection to the M&S development was primarily that it was not Waitrose, your preferred option. Waitrose would allow you to claim that you were responsible for bringing them into ED. You presumably have your own idea as to what should be developed on ED road, what is your preferred option? -
New primary school in Southwark/Lambeth?
Michael Palaeologus replied to minder's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I was baby boom child. We had mobile classrooms in the playground. A temporary measure for a temporary problem. We dont need more schools, just better managed existing schools. -
New primary school in Southwark/Lambeth?
Michael Palaeologus replied to minder's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Good grief, how many schools do we need? Another school will encourage more road traffic and more buggys' blocking the pavement. There are sufficient schools and children in SE22, its not bloody China, we need no more offspring. -

Its a bit of all that, isnt it really. It is historically about the cold war and the Jewish lobby in the US. The US needs/wants a counterbalance to radical Islam, it cant completely trust any of its allied Arab countries because of their internal tensions and it needs a proxy state in a part of the world that has oil and wealth and power, albeit partially potential power. Israel is the an immensely militarised state, the IDF is highly influential within Israeli democratic politics, everybody is or was or will be in the military, or their son/daughter will be/is. I dont see a solution any time soon.

Perhaps, but the missiles would appear to be outgoing. Perhaps a nuclear armed Jericho missile heading for Iran? According to the Chief Rabbi on Today it is all down to Iran, such insight. Typical Guardian though, "Nethanyahu" is not spelt "Likud". Tsk.

An apology to all the mums (and dads) Of ED
Michael Palaeologus replied to midivydale's topic in The Lounge
It is the inconsiderate parents that cause the problems for rest. I have no kids and get pissed off tripping over or fighting my way through buggies blocking entrances, pavements and buses. Parents have no right to preferential treatment beyond that of sensible good manners. If kids are "badly" behaved it is not their fault, it is down to the parents to manage the situation, but manage it they should. Yesterdays lunch at the Victoria was lovely. Lots of kids running round, with a play room available fot them to let off steam. All good, families and singles happily mixed, plenty of room for all. -
A friend of mine in Thailand had an indoor rabbit. It was trained to pee and poo in a tray, which it did. However when the tray had to be moved, Momo (the bunny) was confused and proceeded to pee and poo all over the flat. My friend decided to take Momo to her parents place. They have a farm in the north of Thailand. Friend and her Fiancee drove all the way up country to deliver Momo to freedom. Momo loved his new life in the great outdoors, briefly. He was bitten by a bloody great snake. Momo died. Remember, indoor bunnies are for life etc, etc, ad nauseum.

Bit of a change for the last CC meet of the year. There is no point in meeting in late December, so earlier seems sensible which means there is no point in meeting in late November. SO, the next meeting will be on Wednesday 12 December 2012 at the Mirash Tandoori. Meeting at 7.30 in the EDT, eating at about 8.30. XX -
"Geriatric" may be insulting you, but that is your problem. It is NOT an age-ist equivalent of the N word. Geriatics are not nescessarily retired nor are retired people nescessarily Geriatric. Geriatric is a term used extensively in medicine, care, Government and any number of other fields without any negative inference. Huguenot would defend himself, but he is having his afternoon nap.
