  1. Marvellous evening last night, a good turn out and much happy chatter and scoffing. Next meet will be at Omrith, first Thursday of May, whatever that is date-wise.
  2. Yay!! Tomorrow everybody. I have booked a table, they knew who we were :)
  3. Beardie bloke, died for easter eggs, born in a shed ....
  4. TT -- about 90% :) ...................... :)
  5. Looks like a good turn out. Hope we see you in May Seemster.
  6. What they are doing is being entrepreneurial and using the assets that they have. There is nothing wrong with this. How is having overnight guests going to increase noise? Its not. If anything there will be a greater need to control noise as they will have paying guests in the upper floor rooms.
  7. I have every sympathy with people who live near a pub or bar. However there is the age-old observation that the EDT was there when you moved in and will still be there when you move away. Its a big pub, you couldnt have missed it. The EDT isnt proposing anything that will increase noise or indeed increase rubbish significantly and I would surprised in the extreme if people staying there expected to park anywhere near the place. Its a few B&B rooms, not a late licence. Lets keep things in proportion.
  8. Yes. We need more B&B accommodation in the area. Good for the EDT.
  9. I am. I have finally caught up with the reading.
  10. Hugeunot, much as I love you, you havent lived in ED for years and are premanently enjoying the glories of the Far East, how do you know what rush hour trains are like? My (25 years) experience is that the trains have improved, the rush hour trains have got longer, if you walk to the far tail end of the platform, you can often get a seat or at least a comfortable standing spot for the 12 minute journey to London Bridge. Of course, the trains can at times be late, but we do tend to remember the few times they are late rather than the many times when they are on time. The Overground services from Peckham Rye and Denmark Hill have added a welcome set of services in the East/West direction albeit at the expense of some services to Victoria. To get to Victoria, catch the 185 from outside Neros, to get to Marylebone and Paddington, get the 176 or the 40 from outside Neros and pick up the Bakerloo like at the Elephant and Caste. The Gardens Surgery is the best GP surgery, we dont have an outstanding dispensing Chemist but North Cross Road is the best of a mediocre bunch. Above this chemist is a dental surgery which have always treated me well. Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill is the nearest biggish Supermarket but has no petrol station, Morrisons in Peckham does. PC World/Currys, B&Q, Halfords and Asda are all clustered together on the Old Kent Road. Enjoy and use the Forum. Ignore the miserable, nit-picky Posters. The Whats-On area is a good way to spot social events where you can meet people and make friends. Thankfully the more unpleasent posters do not attend these events, preferring to hide behind anonymity.
  11. The young chap who voluntarily told me he had dinked the front of my car when pulling into a parking space at Sainsbos this morning. No damage done and 10 out of 10 for his honesty.
  12. Next meeting will be at Swadesh, we were last there in the Summer of 2012. Eat at 8pm, meet at Frankins for a wee bevvy at 7.15. http://www.swadeshdiner.co.uk/ http://www.franklinsrestaurant.com/dulwich/
  13. The Fox, Magician and reformed Morris Dancer.
  14. 12 of us! Including DulwichFox, Seemster, Tillie Trotter and JedMk2 as newbies to Curry Club but Forumites of some standing all. Hibbs, MickMac, Allycat, Floating Onion, Sheila, Strafer Jack and Georgia were all present and correct. A few drinkies at the Draft House, where I realised that we had a few more than I had expected. Dulwich Tandoori did us proud, moved tables around and sat all together. The food was great, large welcoming salad, loads of poppadoms and some complementary drinks afterwards. I took a doggie bag home to find that extra pops, rice and nan had been sneaked in by the generous restaurant folk. All good and we will return soon. Many thanks All!
  15. Maybe they are going to have a little cafe franchise in the shop?
  16. Remarkable that! Anyway, its full.
  17. Thanks Bob, that is what the recent Trip Advisor reviews say too. Looks dependable without being too exciting. Which is fine for a business hotel.
  18. Anybody got any ideas for a colleague who needs a Hotel near Streatham Hill? I have found one moderately well reviewed one on Trip Advisor, the Leigham Court Hotel. A personal recommendation would be preferable.
  19. I thought that the whole point was that they could trade for 24hrs, the 24hr alcohol thing has been debunked a few posts ago. Clearly the Coop think that there are enough night workers, insomniacs and late night revellers with the munchies to justify staying open all night. This does not mean their main focus is selling cans of Carlsberg Extra to the befuddled. The alcohol thing seems to have been created to frighten the masses and allow local populist Politicians to ride to the rescue.
  20. Given the soon to be 24hr operation of the Coop, the need to repair the pavement nearby is paramount. It gets dark at night you know.
  21. Think of is Helen and we look forward to seeing you when you are back from your travels.
  22. Yes, please come along DulwichFox. I have booked a table for 8 people for 20.30 hrs, slightly later to allow Mick Mac to down his usual scooner of sweet sherry before we head off. So, 7.30ish at the Draft House and then off to Dulwich Tandoori for 8.30. For the new people, we will be the rather shifty looking group, normally sat at the back of the bar, just before the stairs to the downstairs embibing area.
