  1. It wouldn't be lard on toast you idiots! That would horrible. You are talking about proper beef dripping on toast, with salt. So much for toothless, rickety, pseudo working class credibility.
  2. OMG!! Child trafficking on our very door step!! Cllr mount your steed!! You have a cause!!!
  3. I am in Thailand as I type. Temples, tantric chanting, saffron robes; No. Street food, Yes. Looking forward to the first deep fried scorpion rickshaw to set up on Peckham Piazza.
  4. So, Homebase then? The unit is too small for an out of town shopping experience. It was Cllr Barber's way of describing something not on the Lane.
  5. The opening of large shop doesn't necessarily mean the demise of smaller local shops. Tesco Express has not seen the death of the local shops on ED Road next to Locale. The smaller supey has upgraded and become a Londis. A new mainstream supermarket-express would give a local alternative to Tesco Express, Coop and Iceland.
  6. "GRENDEL!!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2TozovJZX8
  7. Oh Good Grief James!! Don't be so mean minded. It is a peculiarly Lordship Lane-centric view that you have. Why shouldn't other areas of ED not develop? We have shops on ED Road already.
  8. Blair wasn't a revolutionary. He was in a Labour Party sense, but not in the national sense. He simply extrapolated Thatcherism into a somewhat more human form. Like it or loath it, Thatcher fundamentally changed the country. He led the country into some conflicts, but all of them were as part of a coalition led by the US. Blair didn't get near-assassinated (a la Brighton Bombing) and the gender issue has been noted above. So, his Tone-ship will probably not get a ceremonial funeral like this.
  9. The fact is that Peckham Rye station is a dump and needs a facelift. It also feels quite threatening at night. Opening it out and creating space would help. That's not to say that the local traders and artists don't deserve a place to trade, but they could be accommodated in Peckham. It still has a lot of space available. All could win here.
  10. .. and buy in tinned food. I wonder if some pillock will throw a fire extinguisher off a roof again. That always works after all.
  11. All too often these planning decisions, or rather the arguments of the anti's, get mixed with party politics. Thus if you are not in power you don't want anything beneficial to be agreed by those that are in power. Thus you think up allot of spurious guff about more noise, more drunks emigrating into the area and more road-train sized lorries on the Lane. This excites the easily led and you canter in as their saviour. Again. Wake up people!!
  12. AND ANOTHER THING!!!!!!!; They (by which I mean *The Man*) are re-routing Peoples-bus-in-deepest-red number 176 because of the fascist-capitalist running dog's funeral!!!! Clearly an attempt to undermine the mobility of the comrade-cadres' in their glorious fight for freedom.
  13. Well said Huguenot, ... and BA was once in public ownership. Interestingly Thomas Cook, Pickfords and BA are all struggling with the shadow of that period of public ownership.
  14. This isn't a political or economic or social debating Forum. Its a community Forum, all of the above are discussed, but as a community Forum there are back stories and in-jokes amongst the many people who know each other from the virtual and/or actual worlds. So, such juvenile behaviour is allowed. If some people don't like it, there are many other fine Fora available.
  15. "Oy!! My Razzle is in that Manifesto. Its a "Dulwichmum" original" *Thankfully Mrs T is strangely impervious to fire, probably a good, all things considering* "Has anybody got the key to the gun room? My elephant gun is stored there and I need to put a newbie out of our misery. Ah yes here it is, under the half full soda stream bottle" *Opens lavvie door, grabs Manifesto/Razzle off red devil. Hand Manifesto back* "Sorry! Meant to mend that lock years ago, Mrs Dobbin the lactating donkey kicked it open when suffering from mastitis. Nice undies by the way" *Settles in comfy chair with Razzle, elephant gun, gun-oil and rags* *Whistles tunelessly*
  16. Oooooooooooooh!!! Be nice to the Oldsters Dearie.
  17. "Let me just adjust the black ribbons around the photograph of The Blessed Margaret" *Lights a few tea-lights and places them beneath in reverential fashion* *Slips off to the lavatory clutching a copy of the 1979 Conservative Party Manifesto*
  18. "A few cobwebs in the old place" *Flits round with duster* *Finds crumpled photo of a lactating donkey and battered copy of Razzle* "Ah, memories" "Time for a spring clean and lick of paint?"
  19. Posting on other more worthy sites does not make you an expert on this Forum. The combination of the serious minded and puerile is what makes this Forum the great thing that it is. Now, to find that Quiet Room.

After just 63 posts and less than a month registered on the Forum, you are qualified to make such statement how?
  21. Fantastic Jed. Fantastic.
  22. For me, and in no order of preference: Mirash Tandoori Nights Jaflong Dulwich Tandoori It is as you say, a matter of personal taste, which is where this thread came in ....
  23. *Sharp intake of breath* *Points quivering finger* "AN INTERLOPER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :) It was OK. Service was rather slow, we had booked a table for 8 so they knew how many of there were coming so waiting an hour for the starter was a little frustrating. When we got in there it was cold, a heater was put on but it took some time to become anywhere near comfortable. The food was plentiful and quite good. Not the best on the Lane but quite good. Swadesh gave us free mineral water and we all got a free digestif. We had 2 courses and drinks which included 2 bottles of Rose (you know who you are ...) and bottled beer. All of this came to ?22 a head including a tip. So, good value. Food was coming out of the kitchen but that was for delivery. Perhaps they do more delivery than dine in as they are that little bit further up the Lane?
  24. Thursday 2 May 2013 sees the next gathering of the ED Curry Club at Omrith restaurant on Forest Hill Road. http://omrith.com/ We will eat at 8ish Meet for drinks at The Rose Pub at 7.15ish. http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/restaurants/the-rose-info-277194.html
