  1. So, who is coming? I suggest that we meet in the EDT at about 7.30 and then toddle up to Jaflong at 8ish. As it is a Thursday, I will book a table - so I need a feel for numbers ....
  2. I think that Brummies are discriminated against/bullied. Not sytematically, but the stereotype of the "thick Brummie" is alive and kicking, as is that of the "dishonest Scouser" and "violent Glaswegian" Dont get me started about the oppression of us Gingers.

  11. Better some usable accomodation than a blot on the landscape, if there is no business for the pub anymore time to move on.
  12. I wonder who else might come? Where is that elephant in the room? :))
  13. They did it. Yesterday afternoon Floating Onion and Ally Cat were married in a Norman Church in deepest rural Kent. The Bride looked stunning, the Groom looked stunned. The Bride in a beautiful dress, the Groom in a kilt, traditionally worn. The Mothers in Law had some fantastic hat action going on. Mr Onion Senior was in traditional Bermuda shorts. There were alot of Onion knees on display with all that traditional garb being worn. Photos by an ancient hump-back bridge over a gently flowing river. Swans bobbing around in the background - courtesy of ED Lurker and some buns. A great meal, dodgy speeches and then a knees up to Keef and the talented combo that are Bare Groove. Thanks to the EDers who came down and had a ball. There were some serious shapes being thrown on the dance floor last night. My feet hurt. No doubt photos will appear on FB in the near future. Happy days. Congratulations to the ecstatic couple.
  14. I'm with The Minkey. Pubs are for adult conversation, want to watch sport? Feck off home or go an watch it live. Apart from proper sport like Rugby Union, thats different.
  15. Sadly I cant attend tonight, I am at a wedding. The drinks are still relevant, they are a great way of new people meeting folks and engaging with East Dulwich. Friendships have been made through the Forum, romances kindles (even amongst some of the people that have said that they wont be coming to the drinks anymore!), some leading to marriage (see above). I think it may well be that those of us who have been on the Forum for some time find that they dont go to every drinks as we may have done. We feel comfortable with our circle of friends and dont feel the need to socialise as we once did. There have been some spats and disagreements, of course. Inevitable when you bring a group of disparate people together and combine this with drink and high spirited discussion. These arent reasons to stop the drinks, they might be amongst the reasons why the peope attending the drinks change, but that turn-over is healthy and to be welcomed. It reflects the way that ED society works. ED's population enjoys a high churn rate, lots of new people coming in as others leave. There will always be a place for an opportunity to meet new friends, the Forum drinks provides once such opportunity. Georgia has done sterling work in organising the drinks for a number of years and I can understand why she may feel a little weary at times, especially when the value of the drinks is questioned. Would anybody like to take over? If so, drop a PM to Georgia. Lets see how many PMs she gets ;-)

  17. It is alot easier to stalk nowadays, what with Facebook and other stuff like that. Back in my day, well, things were tougher. You had to really work for your Restraining Order.
