The big Sainsburys on Dog Kennel hasnt put any of the local shops out of business, indeed the minimarket in the corner of Quorn Road has tarted itself up. The Tescos on East Dulwich R0ad hasnt put any local shops out of business. One of the family that runs the newsagents next to ED Station works in the Tescos another works in Somerfield, both people are Asian (dont know if they are Indian). The posh meat shop on Lordship Lane has opened a second shop outside Dulwich Hospital. So, we havent really been robbed of local shops for local people have we?

I cant remember the stripped Barmaid either, but I do remember the flashing Scotsman ... Oh NOW I remember, but it was a quick hoist up of the blouse than a strip. The Rye was the first New Years Pub do that I have been to that wasnt a disapointment - a great evening.

Well at least convesation will be erudite ..

There are regular drinks held at the Rye Hotel - not sure when. No doubt one of our Lesbian chums will pick this thread up ...

I just wonder whether people will be rather busy w/c 21/12 as the big day is at the end of that week. I am happy with 21 or 22/12 - what do others think?

Many thanks to the 9 people that turned out. Drinks at the EDT and then on to a very busy Tandoori Nights. They had a table of 22, plus us and all of the other tables were full, yet were still able to serve us with little waiting around with food that was to a high standard. Good compmany, good food and good service. This is the most expensive curry house on the Lane, our meals came out at ?35 per head; this for starter, main course plus wine and beer. Having said that the restaurant was very popular for an end of month Wednesday night. Do people want to meet up for another curry before Christmas? If so, when would be best? I suggest week commencing 14/12.

Natural History Museum - once you are passed the Dinosaurs. Lets face it the rest of the place is full of very faded stuffed dead things.

I booked a table for 8 people, so it should be OK. However, they also have a booking in for 18 so couldnt fit it many more. I got home to a message that they wanted to shift us back to 9pm, by the time I spoke to them, we were back to 8pm again. So, if huge amounts of extra people show up, fine, but we will probably have to go elsewhere.

The refurb will see an open kitchen installed, so presumably food will be farely central to their future offer. As Mockers says, the EDT doesnt spring to mind as a food destination because of the inconsistency ..

or tell your Grandparents that you have a work related emergency and cant make it that night. They wont have broadband as a result and so wont know that you were really here scoffing a curry.
