I was at a rather boring business dinner a few weeks ago where Boris was key note speaker. Other than congratulating London mothers and Gu puddings as being the most productive sectors in the capital he announved that control of road works was to be taken from the utilities. At the moment the gas/electricity companies have carte blanche to dig where and when they like, a right dating back to when they were publically owned and so providing a public service. The idea is to coordinate road works and to charge the utilities rent for the space that they are working in, thus reducing disruption and ensuring that the amount of time spent on any given job is reduced as they will be charged by the day.

There has been a wish expressed for a KFC and Burger King on the Lane. Next door to a strip-joint. We should aspire to such things.

I and the rest of the planet blacked for a few minutes, had a weird dream and then woke up to find vampires among us. 'bout it really.

Are we going to have a Quiet Room Bonfire this year? If we do we will need to get some wood together quickly. Admin is off to his Seychelles Love Nest soon and he is throwing us out on the street for the duration of his hols. BBW - put those matches down.

Surely the whole point of the changes is to reduce the current over-crowding at London Bridge? Many people have to go into London Bridge to then travel east to Canary Wharf, this way they can go direct and relieve the pressure at London Bridge. Its either that or demolish Borough and Borough Market and turn them into more platforms. Overall the positives balance out the negatives.

The Dog Kennel Hill Sainsburys didnt cause the local indie Supey to shut down. It forced it to up its act, tart itself up, widen its offer and lower its prices; but it is still there. Likewise the Tescos Metro on ED Road hasnt seem to have forced the closure of the local convenience stores. I am just saddened that it hasnt become a strip joint.

It would seem that the forum is going to be off-air for two weeks from midnight 14 October. So, I will post on the 12th to ask for numbers for the dollowing week - which gives people three days to say yay or nay, after that, no comms for 2 weeks, unless you know me or others who come along.
