  1. Is it every day school hours or every day 9 to 5pm? 13 weeks annual leave is not a bad deal. It seems to be best for the kids and family in general but it is also nice to have a day a week for yourself and the house shores.
  2. Tittle edited in English
  3. I pay mine ?10 per hour and 5 hours per i week; she normally complains there is no enough time when I ask her to do something extra and want more money; she cleans and iron
  4. I found this new Saturday Spanish School for children which is opening this month and will operate from 10am to 2pm; I believe on a drop in basis. I have nothing to do with the school but thought some people may be interested. http://www.cequevedo.com/ http://media.wix.com/ugd/33e666_8da62282c8ce4522926c789839e88479.pdf
  5. Sad; most of the children centers are closed now; no more funding;lots of state nurseries had to cut down on costs as well. It is sad that the government is taking the money from children and families; they are the future. I used them when my oldest one was under 5 but; when the second one was born they had already cut down on lots of free activities
  6. Could not find anything. I think the only option is a tutor; some people have found kumon useful. We have not tried it so can't tell. I know there is a math group at Alleyns on Saturdays for some southwark primaries but I don't think it is open to everybody and the primary schools select who should attend.
  7. Peckham pulse
  8. Thank you. I will speak to the school; don't think my company will be very happy with parental leave as I took already lots of days during the summer holiday. I understand the reasons for the staggered start of reception but it is far too many days until they start properly.
  9. Hi; my child is starting reception but it won't be full time until the last week of September; I am really struggling to find childcare for the first 3 weeks and we don't have any annual leave left. Can you request to the school your child to start properly from the first week?.This slow start is very good for the children but not so good for working parents.
  10. I had that problem when my daughter was 3; I was really worried and bought prum juice, probioticos and anything that would help; we used bubbles in the bathroom to distract her; I decided not to worry as I would pass the stress to her; but if I noticed she needed to go I would take her and seat hear in the toilet and used to tell her poop needs to go out or your tummy will hurt and you can get sick. She eventually got it.
  11. Why don't you try asking in mumsnet?
  12. Good to hear that this seems normal
  13. Really? 10 teachers in a year seem a lot
  14. We are very happy with the Dulwich Village Schools; both my husband and I are not English; I never have felt different or discriminated; they are in London after all and they reflect some of the London diversity; probably not as much as other schools but I don't think this is an issue. Not everyone there is from white British backgrounds. Bessemer and a Rosendale are also very good school; Judith Kerr is full of supporting parents who really want the school to be successful so there is good choices if you find a house in the right place.
  15. May be something else; have you taking her to the Dr?
  16. Dulwich Picture Gallery has classes for over 7
  17. My child was very unhappy at Gumboots but that was over a year ago; he is very happy at another nursery now. Maybe things have changed or perhaps it was not the right nursery for us; there were lots of things I was not happy with
  18. It all depends on your finances; kids are normally very adaptable at that age; you can always apply for any pre schools conveniently located and that you feel happy with and decide when you get a place.
  19. Haven't seen any work started at the police station yet. I will be interested to see how this is going to work; it seems many people is happy with the temporary side which is good. Having the park in front of the school is a big plus.
  20. Most private schools start this Monday; be there early to hand your letter declining the place; you may be lucky
  21. Great! Thank you for the info; will look at other sources
  22. I know there are good state secondaries in Dulwich but I am wondering why none of them are on these lists: http://www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/multimedia/archive/00354/LONDON_354976a.pdf http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/leaguetables/10246791/A-level-results-2013-results-from-400-state-schools.html
  23. Poor you and your son; I took my daughter out of a nursery after 5 months when I noticed she had changed and she became very aggressive; she used to panic when we were getting close to the nursery; you should always follow your instincts; it took awhile for her to be back to normal; we found a good state nursery after 6 months and she is happy there. There are lots of rubbish nurseries in London and they should definitely have more control. Keep doing the cranial ostheopaty; it helps a lot with anxiety
  24. Stop for a year or two; he started too early and is probably tired; have a break; he is still very young
  25. Will a medical card be enough to replace the child benefit letter?; you can ask the GP for one and should receive it within 2 weeks
