  1. Ashley probably wanted to sack Pardew at the end of last season, but didn't want to pay 6 years compo. So how does a chairman get rid of an unwanted manager?...enter Joe Kinnear :)
  2. Mick, Argyle...I've just been picking my horses for tomorrow's installment of the Telegraph Fantasy horse racing game, and I noticed that there is a separate Ascot only game. It's the same as the Cheltenham one we played earlier in the year, pick 3 trainers, 3 jockeys, and a horse in each race...30 races in total. I've picked mine, let me know if you want to join in and I'll set up another EDF league. If you want to make any stable changes in the 'EDF Betting Matters' league, now's the time to do it before the 2-30 race tomorrow...
  3. Sorry, can't help you with that one...

  7. Any film with Cary Grant in it. At Chrimbo, It's A Wonderful Life...
  8. I'd be amazed if any municipal courts opened at such an unearthly hour. Have you considered joining a private tennis club?..not unknown for members to be given keys for out of hours use. Try the North Dulwich Tennis Club along East Dulwich Grove (Peter 07776 130 500)...
  9. There's a warm front rising...oooerrr missus
  10. Throwing open the French doors, playing some choons, and drinking ice cold Westons Perry on the first really hot day. Refreshing and fruity, but with a 7.4% kick, what's not to like?.. :) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7144/6796344899_9c2f5b64ba_m.jpg
  11. My point is this, here is a guy that told United Arsenal he wanted to move on because he didn't like the direction they were going in... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/10099697/Laurent-Koscielny-warns-he-could-leave-if-Arsenal-fail-to-make-big-buys-this-summer.html
  12. I think you've pretty much nailed it EP. This 'loyalty' thing is all a bit one-eyed. Also need to factor in that clubs only show loyalty when it suits them. Where is the loyalty to the 16 year old apprentices who gets kicked out for not making the grade? Where's the loyalty to players that are transfer listed and sold, or used as a makeweight in a big deal? As for Rooney, he's still 'a Blue' in that he's an Everton supporter, and that won't change whoever he plays for. From the perspective of a football fan myself, I don't have a problem with that...
  13. I'm confused. If you're not selling then why is it a problem? Why would you lose a purchase? If it's a property you're buying then what's to stop you buying it without PP? Is it something a mortgage company has insisted on? And you haven't confirmed whether the property is in a Conservation Area or not. If it is then PD won't apply anyway. And you don't need PP if the windows were replaced 'like for like'. How do you know if there has been a material change or not? There's also a timeframe when retrospective PP cannot be enforced by an authority. Planning and PD both take around 8 weeks from submission of application. Here's some links, personally I think you'll be better off speaking to planning directly... http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/doorswindows/ http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/485/planning_applications/609/advice_and_help_with_planning_applications http://www.hip-consultant.co.uk/blog/planning-permission-not-obtained-123/

Blimey H'oochie, the pen is indeed mightier than the sword, looks like Tom lost the will to live after your damning critique. Is this in anyway linked to your psychic music divining business? Do you take requests? Don't supose you could put in a bad word against Jilly Cooper?... http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2013/jun/06/tom-sharpe-dies
  16. Broadband went down Monday lunchtime, back online late PM last night. Will put on my best Scouse accent and ask for 'compo'...

  19. Meds & Mick, are you going to submit your teams to the League? You might as well, lots of points to play for, and think of the kudos if you win. I can record the first round scores and do an alternative 'what if' table at the end...
  20. Where can I recycle old house keys?..
  21. Thanks Mick, I know you're just toying with me...
  22. Well done chaps...I had Battle Of Marengo, just pipped for a place :(
  23. Suarez will definitely go now he's said he wants to leave. Fans will go on about him not showing loyalty, but where was his loyalty to Ajax fans before he signed for LFC?..

  25. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I'll enter a team later today though I still > haven't worked out why NOT to select tomorrow's > starting XV. Because in the next game a lot of them might not play? You only have 15 transfers over the next 6 non-Test matches, which is 2.5 transfers per match. It's therefore probably impossible to pick the starting XV for all 7 non-Test matches, so you have to try and go for a balance, and include players who are not playing in the first game, but will get a game eventually. You've also got to factor in that the manager will have an idea of his Test match side and will want to give those players sufficent playing time in the non-Test matches. And you will also probably be forced to make a transfer or two due to injury, so wise to keep a few transfers held back. My auto-select team only came up with 3 of tomorrow's starting XV, which I think is too light, so I will use the amnesty and transfer a few of the starting XV into my team...how many?...not telling ;-)
