  1. Really? Driving in a bus lane is a decriminalised traffic offence. I just got a fine.
  2. It is a consultation on a 20mph zone, not limit. "Zones" legally have to be "self enforcing" - they have to have speed humps/tables/cushions, chicanes etc which slow the traffic down. There is testing going on for new time over distance speed cameras similar to the ones on motorways, which would enable them to monitor whole residential areas which would remove the need for speed humps, but they are a way off.
  3. The bus lane sign is pretty small. But there is a whacking great BUS ONLY painted on the road. If you pay it quickly it is moderately less painful.
  4. I got it too. Though annoyingly there are no measures on my street (a one way) which people hammer up. I wouldn't mind a speed hump or two to slow them down.
  5. Yes - I've been fined there. Buses are allowed to go straight on, other traffic has to turn left at the lights. I missed the signs, had a moan, looked at the pictures Southwark sent me and realised it was a fair cop. Annoying, but it is a bus lane.
  6. Rowanofski - I agree the people in the newsagents are really really miserable. But then being next to the superb Barry's must be pretty depressing for them.
  7. It is still really difficult for authorities to enforce against foreign registered vehicles. There is something called the Sparks initiative which would enable the enforcement of parking fines etc across european borders. But at the moment authorities have to enlist the services of a european debt recovery agency to get fines back. This is pretty pricey and in many cases isn't worthwhile pursing.

  9. Mrs TP bought my sister some nice presents for her birthday from the OB in Islington. My sister loved them. Everyone was happy. If you don't like the shop don't go in it.
  10. I can't see the objection to speed cameras. If you don't speed you don't get caught. So don't speed.
  11. Foxton's minis already have mock graffiti on them, how will we tell the difference?
  12. I went their with Mrs TP last weekend and I couldn't agree more Sean. The food was fantastic, not cheap but the food and atmosphere was much better than you would get at many places in town. I waddled home a very happy man.
  13. Despite the result I throughly enjoyed my first taste of non-league football. Anfield it isn't, but the beer is cheap. I will be back in the New Year to see the Mighty Dulwich concentrate on the league.
  14. I'll be there Mark. I'm also a Liverpool fan, but I've been meaning to go and see a Hamlet game for ages and AFC seems a good place to start.
  15. Companies have been sponsoring the Forum for sometime - not just baby clothing shops. Though I didn't hear a lot of criticism for the building companies. Maybe if they called themselves Monsieur Le Bricolage there would have been more complaints?
  16. No, but it will probably boost their trade.
  17. Surely you can't pursue the council if it is a private road?
  18. I cycle to work in Westminster every day on my lovely shiny single speed road bike. I go over Denmark Hill, which is a bit of a killer without gears! Through Camberwell, along Camberwell New Road, round the back of Oval and over Lambeth Bridge. It takes me about 25 mins. I love it. And I don't bother with the gym anymore, 50 mins quick cycling every day is more than enough exercise for me.
