Saudi Arabia to behead and crucify paedophile...

Possibly Sean, because their judicial system is more corrupt than ours? -

It would be nice to see the punishment fit the crime, and for it to be seen to be done. Although legalbeagle says that the death penalty does not stop crime, it certainly stops them committing any other crimes. Leaglebeagle said we all know that the guildford four and the Birmingham six were guilty until we found out they weren't, but Private Eye had been publishing about the fragility of the cases for years, but the judiciary is so corrupt it was all ignored to enable the police to hang it on someone. If I were a leagleWeasel I would never choose the death penalty, as it could seriously affect my earnings potential. This city after dark is a no go area for many inhabitants, and it is my belief that we could reverse that with very little effort. Straightening out the judicial system in this country will not happen in my lifetime. -

Westerners talk to each other from arms length, and middle-easterners talk from elbows length apart. Westerners do business first then play, middle-easterners wine and dine you first, then talk business. Holloway wrote:- quite what this has to with microbiology i don't know. They want to know if you will fit in as a 'team player' whilst propelling yourself to the canteen and/or the microbiology lab. Can you interact with other members of staff, and so avoid employing someone who is insistent on wearing swastikas on their white coat a la prince Harry.

All true Jah, but you cannot meet the prospective in-laws or interview for a new job without one. In my opinion.

1st child runs in from the garden "mummy I have just swallowed a penny" mother quickly feeds the child some bread to assist the potentially overtaxed gut, rushes off to phone GP. 5 years on 2nd child runs in to say mummy I have just swallowed a penny, who promptly looks over the top of her magazine from the sofa "right that comes out of your pocket money"! Stimulated by Mellors post.

I remember being told to tie up a ladder (by the union representative) before climbing it, I said I believe I have to climb it to tie it up. He repeated his dire warning then shuffled off. Useless unhelpful prat I thought to myself, he was mouthing off to cover himself if there was a disaster.

It lacks the sea. Snow covered mountains for all year round skiing. Moorland so we might hear the trilling of Curlew and Snipe. Fenland to see the Marsh Harriers and hear the call of the Bittern. Open grassland to encourage Skylarks that warble and sing during flight. Fortnum and Mason to supply quality comestibles. Hatchards for all the literary needs of our bookworms. Yates wine lodge that accepts all kinds of alcoholics, so we have somewhere to slither down to. A surfeit of free, good schools with an excess of places with nurseries attached where you can leave your children until you finish work. A gaggle of honest and trustworthy, with a smattering of helpful, politicians. A local council with enough housing for our needs. A dog catcher that goes after hoodies with bruiser dogs leaving a safer environment. A society without class division but knows how to punish the thugs and thieves in full. A society which has no need for solicitors and other members of the judiciary, so we could all sing and dance and indulge in merriment without the risk of being sued. A supply of highly paid interesting and available jobs. A place where women could walk in to face a line of single males and would be allowed to take by the elbow, taken home to be a sex slave until the money ran out............. at a fiver per hour. One of these for men too. Have I missed anything, oooh yes I will have to sell up now as I cannot afford the real-estate fees now everyone wants to live in ED.

Had a pair of longtailed tits visit the garden but didn't get involved with the peanut feeder. There is a pair of blackbirds that visit and the male has some white feathers on his back, so more of a pied blackbird.

Big shoulder pads were done in the late seventies and early eighties so its all a bit yawn yawn for us elderly forumistas.

'A day in the life of Ivan Denisovitch', was the only book made into a film so accurately and/or faithfully that if you saw the film you did not need to read the book.

I was told some years ago that rape carried the death penalty in some states, but I have no idea whether this is still the case. If their gaols are like the ones here, it is a dangerous place to be as a sex offender.

I find it depressing that you cannot take your eyes off it for a second before some thieving creep lifts it, and even if they were caught nothing is available, which I consider a true deterrent, can legally be administered. In the middle east nobody takes anything not belonging to themselves, as the punishment is dire, so it can be done.

Have you got a photo to put on here so we can keep an eye out for it?

That's an idea for a business, a few cans of lager bought in from a supermarket placed in a wheelie bag sold for ?1.50 or 2 quid a can on the platform, should suit miserably treated commuters by anaesthetising their pain.

So did the British and we got whupped. The Russians went in years later and they bombed all the cowsheds and got whupped financially. The Americans followed the Russians into Afghanistan, finding no complete cowsheds, they bombed the cowshed ruins.....to be continued. I look at this place and wonder how it sustains life, when it has all the hallmarks of a moonscape, but with some of our guys left behind to suffer it. A few years from now our guys will be pulled out from the wreckage, some will be in wheel chairs, some will be buried and the moonscape will look exactly the same. There will be no changes, it will still be a lawless piece of ground like it has always been, but there will definitely be less of our guys alive.

I do not put any of those mentioned in the same league or category as Christmas carols. Which I thoroughly enjoy.
