*holds hands up* I stated that It was the shopkeepers who elected hitler so I am the one who provoked this Godwins law stuff I presume - post now deleted - obviously they were not the only ones who voted for him,, but their "class" were the ones who embraced the new regime after being kicked about during Weimar and the inlationary period of the previous decade. There . ve said my piece. anyway...........

Did they get paid for theit time ? I bet they didnt I could think of little less enticing than being dragged 2 hours down a motorway to eat with the same people I spend 5 days a week with and then at the end of it, pretend I was grateful for thr jaunt. And the owners can claim it back as an expense I bet.

Give small businesses a > break you mad man(6) I get out of my pit each day to prostitute myself to the highest bidder - I get well paid for an apallingly small amount of actual effort - Unlike many in my field, I do not have any illusions about what I do and do not dress up my position as a small cog in the big wheel of capitalism as anything but. I do not argee that the money my industry makes enriches the community and the country by my ostentatious spending on useless luxury goods, trickling down to the masses. I have worked hard - once or twice - I didnt like it - theres no nobility in it.There is no reward in heaven and no right hand side of god to sit on. if you want to be a shopkeeper - the same group of people who incidentally were instrumental in electing Hitler to Chancellor - then that is up to you, but please do not come out with rubbish such as community etc - Everything is secondary to ? if you run your own business - it has to be. Shopkeepers are all like the infamous Mr Krabs to a greater or lesser degree.

Whatever we think about the Sainsburys of this world, at least they are very hot on Rules / regs/ H&S - areas that local shopkeepers have a very flexible attitude to this type of thing. Just cos theyse small businesss does not make them good people with charity in their hearts - they are still capitalists and all they really want is your money and to keep as much of it for themselves as possible. "The traders are all for building a community and they do listen to the locals." Monica - What utter tosh - they want ?, they have no interest in community unless it serves them well. This is why LL is a dangerous traffic ridden place sometimes - if the shops were truly bothered about community, they would press to get the area traffic free to reduce pollution and damage, but they know this would affect their money making, so they constantly harass for THEIR interests. I know ive said this before, but you really mustnt give these "local traders" too much credit - they would sell crack to you kids if it was legal and profitable - they already do a roaring trade in Fireworks in the latter half of the year - something that provides momentary pleasure for only the very young and the borderline insane. hardly a community service. *Repeat ad nauseum*

Why not just go to Sainsburys afetr work ? Its open late and you dont further oppress the miniimum waged who have to slave away in boxy little stores for long hours or have I missed th point entirely ?
-
Its SO sad when Mummies spend serious cahs on designer labels for toddles and babies, knwoping fine well they will have grown out of them in a few months or weeks - Why Do this ? Who does it benefit ? ( apart from the grinning shop owners ) so very very sad

s/b antidiluvial - like ole Skool or like not a metrosexual ?

right at the bottoem of the Croxted road, nearly under the railway arches- opposite the park - along form Olleys and bandidos West Indian Rotis - like what you get in Barbados at Sandy lane. mmmmm

I can think of little worse than spending time with a antideluvial males in the evenings. they market these things sometimes in the City - some over made up dyed blonde tartette grabs you whislt you are on the commute and tries to get you to sign up to the latest gentelmans club venture.I seem to be the only male in the are who recoils at the thought of paying to spend time in one of these grim places .

Here we go# Its the small square bit of waste land opposite the Council offices andf the little park on peckham high street. The covered hole in the ground is where its at. until recently you could "get in" with a bit of persistance and sturdy shoes, ut has since been (shoddily ) resealed.

I am moved to tears by your reponses to my storyette PS - I have more than a passing aquaintance with the BRG - I cannot comment any further, as this site would probabaly be shut dowen under the obscenity laws, considering the language I may be tempted to use "bellend" being possibly the least offensive of the filth I would use
