(In short though , its not a bad school - not as good as many make it out to be , but stable enough to get a youngster started - up there with the other coupel of decent ones in the hood)

Nothing personal MicMac, but this is better served in the Familes section - an open question like this will prove to be a hit amongst the earnest mothers who " only want the best for their children" and will pull every underhand stroke in the book to get a place in whatever school is considered the best in the area and provokes an application frenzy amongst the chattering classes.

haha nothing like a climate change debate to get things going on the forum I liked the way the Ramblers objected to the placement of wind turbines in most areas becaseu it would spoil their view and their hobby. Thought, in their favor , they did intriduce the barely whispered idea that wind power, even if sexed up to make it seriously efficient, would never have much of an impact - akin to taking an aspirin to cope with your hair being on fire. sorry

What are they going to do? The lack of > any profit they make being fed back into our > economy surely can?t be worse than having it as a > deficit in public spending? Where to start on this ? the first thing is to remember that for the IB & Insurance industry, these debts have not just materialsied- every time your pension portfolio or ISA tracker increased in the past deacde & you patted yourswelf on the back for your wise choice, it was on the basis of profits from these companies - their dividends and their numbers boosted everything they touched, from pension managers to house prices to flat screen TVs You have to remember that profits , as stated in the books, as used to determine bonuses, as used to work out the shareholders dividend, are not usually physical cash, swilling around in a safe somewhere - this is not a greengrocers where the profits can be guaged by the weight of pound coins in their pocket at the end of the week. Profits also include higher valuatuations in their assets- and for much of the past decade, their asset valuations have been increasing year on year - quite remarkable. Little real physical cash is available - even dividends are often held in scrip format for tax efficiency reasons the problems is that - as every Guardian reader now knows and is more than willing to lecture all and sundry with his newly learned head shaking and tuttung wisdom - if these assets are "toxic" & their valuations are based on industry accepted flights of fancy, then understanding the previous decade of year on year record profits may make more sense. That mortgage you raised last year - ?500K for that des res on Underhill road - even you were surprised they gave the multiple needed and that you were able to get it so easily & so quickly - where do you think this money came from ? We can't tell them to get stuffed, because we are all - inmplicity or explicity - party to the boom years party so to speak. You cant expect to juggle chain saws all day and not expect at some point to draw blood We are all to blame, some more than others, but lets not get into the pointy finger blame game - its cheap Daily mail & Guardian reader diversionary rubbish - bankers are still cogs in the global mechanism of capital, as are we all

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That's missing the point - they still have a lower > tax base. and that is a contributory factor - a celtic bubble based on huge EU subsidy - now there are more deserving cases, such as the tranche of new EU members, Ireland will have to think of new ways to raise cash . Its miniscule manufacturing abse & focus on hi tech ( and easily dissasembeld & rebiult elsewhere ) financial services / Technology / coms, means that it will be seeinga net outflow of business in the coming years. Irelands mailaise is deeper than just the present crisis & there does not seem to be a long term plan in the pipeline. Ireland is more likely to morph to the Danish model of higher taxes than retain its present low ones to compete

given that anyone who has HNW will hardly be naked when it comes to tax planning, then this top rate increase will make little difference & will not see a mass exodus of talent to the overrated shithole of the free state Even that shit coated wanker Bono has decamped his tax affairs out of ireland

Ireland is bankrupt hardly a good example to use

any more detials on this ? Will be interesting to see resultant views on a "much loved local business" maybe bypassing regulations & "invasive chain" cafe Neros doing the same

Lets be honest, this is budget-lite given the way we have caned it for the past decade, with no thought for the future Those over 150K will likely have tax minimisation schemes onboard anyway

I am losing the will to live. Oh my aching fucking head. when will it ever end.... "Debate - why are people being paid for their views? It's becoming more commonplace (no names) to encourage people taking part in surveys to do so for a financial incentive. Is it right? Does it distort the results? And should we encourage people who don't care about a topic to have a say? Educating people is good isn't it? Look at all that "chicken television" on earlier this year. That must have seen a shift in chicken sales because of it. So can we educate people in the survey sector? We believe... hand.... heart.... that many are encouraged to complete surveys to capture their personal details. Usually to be paid for their responses, or maybe even win a prize of up to ?1,000. Let us ask....why is that? Maybe because you're being treated like one of those battery hens. In a box, you're a piece of meat, seen as something that can be sold for profit. Because that's what you'd be if your details were being sold to other companies. Those companies would stuff your letterbox with needless offers and fill your inbox with spam. All because you forgot to tick an ambiguously labelled box. Sadly it's common. And people could stop completing surveys due to apathy. That would be like not eating chicken anymore. So instead why not take part in surveys where information and individual data is protected. And our promise to anyone completing surveys with us.... We promise...hand...heart, your data will NEVER be sold, never ever."

Clarity - seeing as you use this forum to promote your money making agenda, can you explain what this garbled shit actually means on your site ? "Technical Director - James Atkinson Since James was introduced in 2007 the delivery and efficiency of what Clarity does has soared. He's a pea in Paul's pod too. "Similar to Paul, I think strategically. See the big picture rather than doing things for the sake of it. But I love detail too. Making things work better, understanding something inside out. Mind you, since knowing Paul my eyes have been opened. There's so many companies whose eyes are firmly shut. Missing vital information right under their noses. Doing it badly but making a few quid so it's ok. For now. Such a shame. If only they were a bit more proactive!" I feel a ban coming, but I will take it with my head held high

Why are you posting a link to a commercial organisation here, under the banner of a poll ? is this what you call an opportunity ? market research is another parasitical so called profession that is partly responsible for the ills of this consumer culture we call society. be off with you and your uselsss kind - you add nothing and make me feel soiled

Rules: Snorky starts with a single word that opitomises the "hood", you reply with a word that is inextricably associated with ED and to the word before Snorkys judgement is final. Here is your ( rather obvious and somewhat cliched )starter.... Bugaboo

ED cop shop went downhill when its inmates were convicted of running a drugs ring and banged up.( google if you must ) I think its a lovely brutal & very apt building & would be sad to see it demolished for a range of Urban warehouse living pokey flats with unrealistic service charges & granite worktops ( close to ED station junction2 & the lively Lordship lane area, inclusing the world famous Adventure bar ) - nearly as interesting as the facade of the Functinal yet menacing Deco pig sty on Bishopsgate
