all the soccer pitches are out of commission (there are signs telling people to keep, but they are ignored). the harris girls use the bit of the park next to their school, b ut I haven't seen any other schools there, apart from the busload if tinies last week.
-
the fact remains that we were told specifically that harris boys (and, in fact, the girls) would not be using the park for their sports. now, james barber seems to think they should. thank goodness he is no longer in a position of power!! in any event, the soccer pitches are in such a dreadful state that they are not being used this season. the crowd of visiting kids using the park last week arrived in a mini bus that drove through the gates and onto the grass before parking. thanks guys, for chewing up even more of the grass. this is a park... and it is OUR park so, james your mates, cycle away and leave it alone!

someone above called for dogs to be muzzled. that would leave the overwhelming majority of nice, peaceful dogs vulnerable if they were attacked by one of the monsters mentioned above, for they would not be obeying the rules. sadly, there is a big dog-hating lobby on this board.

Proposed cycle superhighway to run down Lordship Lane
puzzled replied to benmorg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
perhaps cllr barber could explain how a new cycle lane would bring lots of money to lordship lane. I used to live in crystal palace road and I'd have been horrified to have a cycle lane down it it is a residential road and residents, quite reasonably, want to park outside their homes. and why not? we don't all share your bike fixation cllr -
the fact remains that climbing through an upstairs window is a vastly different thing than finding a door open. it is illegal and it is also morally and ethically wrong to appropriate a house that someone has only recently bought. these bloody students should be ashamed of themselves and I hope their parents will act. they presumably have student loans and support from home. failing that they should get off their ares and do something novel... it is called WORK. highly recommended for enabling you buy things for yourself. these buys are common thieves. I laughed when one of them said he resented me calling them fascists. sensitive little sausage. would he be irate to my face I wonder, or remain behind his stolen front door?
-
squatters are, in fact, fascists. they have no regard for the law, just a willingness to twist it to their own ends by breaking into houses and occupying them. al those on here trying to loftily support them are talking total b++++x (as usual). they would be the first to go bleating to the police if they came home and found themselves locked out by some smelly tossers.

will, your pictures are great. did you take them from what we call the cruise liner building?

Council vehicles (parked illegally)
puzzled replied to TheAllSeeingEye's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
is this really a major problem? I detest southwark council and all their works, but can't say this is in the top 10 niggles. sounds like someone has a persona;l grievance with the parking gestapo. -
the fact is that staffs are very people friendly... but they hate other dogs. argue all you like, but that is the truth
-
do you mean compulsory neutering of all dogs or just the ones in question here? too much neutering would lead to extinction.

Is East Dulwich up for a Photo / Arts festival?
puzzled replied to darrelkmorris's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
for those who don't remember edfest, it was on goose green. main events were in the big top (bill bailey was the headline gig one year) and there were craft stalls, nice food outlets and even a book festival in a smaller tent. jonathan meades was there for the last edfest. it was great fun. the council made the stewards wear t shirts proclaiming 'PROUD TO BE PECKHAM". a small price to pay for their generous support. -

you really can't expect people who pay alleyn fees actually to park and walk anywhere. for heaven's sake show some respect and deference -
Is East Dulwich up for a Photo / Arts festival?
puzzled replied to darrelkmorris's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
we used to have a lovely bank holiday weekend event called edfest, but it was ended when the joyless lib dems took over the council and refused to continue financial support -
Yet more road works on Forest Hill Roads
puzzled replied to dbboy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
we live in a road off colyton and our spirits sank when saw that the nasty little lights were back for another open-ended period of disuption. several dog walkers and no doubt other pedestrians are furious that trying to cross the road to go to the park is once again a life lottery. this country simply does not work any more. -
can't imagine why the blond buffoon has forotten to screw up blackfriars bridge. come back ken and save us al

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
puzzled replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
methinks I spy lib-dem orchestrated love-in here. could it be anything to do with the forthcoming council election? shurely not not! -

good to hear that woody is home and recovering. they are amazingly resilient little creatures. he is well known to lots of dog walkers on peckham rye and we look forward to seeing him again. note to stevet.... my, you are sensitive and waspish soul aren't you? I merely pointed out that I have never seen a pitbull round here. I then said, to allay the fears of people, that most of the dogs in this park appear to be jack russells, who are charming little dogs and no threat to anyone. please don't feel compelled to come back at me yet again. it is becoming rather tiring.
-
dangerous pets, as referred to by steve t, are very much in a minority. far and away the most prolific east dulwich doggies are jack russells.
-
I have been walking our two jack russells every morning in peckham rye park for more than three years and have never seen dog-owners deliberately abusing the picnic area in the way you allege. there is a large group of dog walking regulars and if we see anyone behaving badly we tell them about it.
