Lordship Lane street party for Royal Wedding?
puzzled replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
are you also suggesting that the shops all close for the day? they couldn't be open with all that stuff going on. -
Lordship Lane - best highstreet in London? (The Times)
puzzled replied to Saila's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
god, you people are appalling. so desperate to scribble down angst and spite. the paper was being nice about where we live for chrissake1 i live in east dulwich and I like it. and LL IS in se22. if you moaners don't like it here, clear off.none of us will miss you -
zeban. stupid and pointless are words for you. endlessly sniping and bitching and pontificating. it is no fun being robbed and even less when a pillock like you complains when a shopkeeper tries to stop it happening again.

the miscreant is a professional.she came equipped with detagging equipment and is known to other shopkeepers. apparently she usually operates as part of a pair

the only research these rapacious ratbags do is into how much they can rip us off for
-
that is truly appalling! what reason can there be to wait days before notifying you...and then to take it to edmonton in the tropic of tottenham. you MUST contact the local press and also get in touch with the police divisional commander. if you are in the scutari road area, you are probably now in hattie harman's constituency. please do contact her.she is a very good mp. good luck and don't let them screw you around like this. you are the victim of a nasty crime.

bellenden road/danby street - people going through bins
puzzled replied to Panda's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
our blue box rubbish was strewn across the front garden last week. I assumed it was a fox, but now I wonder! -
they intended to extend the cpz right up to the east dulwich library which is hardly just around the corner for the station. give em an inch and they will take a country mile.
-
a few years ago, the council had a "consultation" on CPZs. opposition was mobilised and there was a massive majority against. finally, the council grudgingly admitted that the residents did not want it... but they tried to pretend there was only a wafer thin majority against. as one of the many who took petitions door to door, I know the antis must have been at least 85%.

anyone tried out the new place opened by the smbs family? I spent a moment or two trying to decipher what it is called. looked like india is chief... but was actually indianmischief. I would have gone in but it was not doing lunch today and the credit card machine is not working. hope it all gets going soon.

Looks like Southwark's festive cuts will bite deep!
puzzled replied to Bony Fido's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
who cares. they were crap anyway -
the marked out pitches are not in the park but on the common. very different thing.
-
bob... I have no axe to grind, but you seem to enjoy being snide without knowing anything at all. the shop you are insulting has been an east dulwich fixture for about 20 years so it must make the occasional sale although not to you perhaps.
-
one of the trendy shops in lordship lane occasionally puts pictures from the cctv of shoplifters in the window all with the approval of the police. a few days ago they had new one of a black woman nicking coats.apparently two women have been in accusing the shopkeeper of racism! they have recently pictured a white guy stealing perfume. the shop is probably merely thiefist

Anyone recommend woodland dog walk near Ryedale?
puzzled replied to twinmummy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
nunhead cemetary is your best bet. sydenham hill woods are lovely, but the buggy may be a problem. -
What is the old launderete next to The Vale going to be?
puzzled replied to Weegee's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think you are being wound up a little -
methinks easter81 should move away. he/she/it obviously hates east dulwich and would clearly feel happier elsewhere. we have lived here since 1988... when it really was a bit rubbish, but we thought it would come up and it has. LL is the finest little shopping street in london. if we ever for a moment consider moving, we always ask ourselves "does the new place have a lordship lane." the answer is no, so we stay. we probably won't ever move now. of course, we still don't have the tube (in spite of promises from tfl), but honour oak park is only up the road with its links to docklands and the west end.

Proposed cycle superhighway to run down Lordship Lane
puzzled replied to benmorg's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have no particular axe to grind, but it does seem right that cyclists should be licensed and have insurance, there does seem to be an air of sanctimony among cyclists. not a significant sample I know, yesterday afternoon a male cyclist with a tiny in a seat behind him, pedalled through a red light. it does happen quite often and we all know it. I just want cyclists to stop portraying themselves themselves as a protected species. -
I say southwark - fortnightly bin collections
puzzled replied to Terry Thomas esq's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
james barber says trsde collections are a private matter between shops and collection companies. thanks to him and his tory mates, this is true. southwark used to have a very reasonably priced and efficient trade waste service. the libdems and tories flogged it to veolia, who are crap actually. I am told the contract with veolia is for 20 years. thanks a bunch jimmy! -
I say southwark - fortnightly bin collections
puzzled replied to Terry Thomas esq's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
concita is right (above). I lived in paris for a while and there they have communal wheelie bins on street corners. they were emptied several times a day. I suggested something like that to southwark years ago and was told: "well, it might work in paris, but it wouldn't work here or anywhere in london." so nice to get a logical response! -
the woolwich site is to be yet another estate agent (thought there was a slowdown in house sales). threshers has a really loony lease condition. it can only be an offie and the flat upstairs must be occupied by the manager. the freeholder is, I gather around 100 years old and clearlt in a world of his own. tannas is attracting internest, but the rent is around ?27k and the rates etc bring it up to some ?32k. you need to sell a lot of anything to make a profit there.

I suspect stevet is a wind=up merchant. if he isn't then he represents the worst kind of anti-doggist on this board (of which there are quite a few) I suggest a fenced area where steve and his tight-sphinctered friends can shamble around muttering together.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
puzzled replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
is that councillor the one who was a tory last time and had talks with labour before crossing to your side just in time to see labour back into power. tell me, james, how do you stand on the issue of university fees... you know, the thing all your MPs pledged to oppose?
