so many people keep referring to pit bulls. the dogs in question are staffs and in the one case, an american bull. pit bulls are an illegal breed, totally banned and very rarely seen. as a regular dog walker, I have never seen one round here. if I ever do, I will call the cops and the council straight away. there is a very vocal anti-dog lobby and we really don't need to feed their hostility with tales of "devil dogs".

in response to huggers, the oval is not actually an on-lead area. the only time to you see dogs in the picnic area is when people going in there leave the gates open. that goes for other parts. dogs, sadly, cannot read signs and if the gates are left open (as they often are) then they will trot in there until the owners go in and fetch them out. by and large most dogs and their people are very well behaved. the council anti-dog bossyboots make occasional attempts to make all dogs stay on lead everywhere, but they are resisted and will be every time they try. the fact is we all have to rub along together. quite frankly, if it was not for the dog walkers, the park would be empty, particularly in the winter months.

Recycled items dumped in our green bin
puzzled replied to Horsebox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
their IT system is always down when you ask them to do something for you. the idle and useless call centre is a lib dem triumph. before they took power you could actually call the dept you wanted and get some action. -
the general view on the rye is that monty was not the complete rear end he is now when he was younger and that it is the foul owner to blame. obviously he should be banned from dog-owning, but sadly monty may never be able to turn into a nice well-behaved woofer. staffs are a permanent nuisance in the park. they tend to adore humans and hate other dogs. great innit?

I have spoken to fellow dogwalkers in peckham rye park. many of them are aware of this disgusting monty creature and his even more disgusting owner. the "gentleman" in question is every bit as alarming as his dog. feeling among the dogwalkers is that the police will not be much interested. perhaps cllr barber could get involved here and have a well-directed word with the community wardens and ensure that there are regular patrols for the time being. this dog must be muzzled and kept on a lead at all times

Parliamentary constituency - changes to boundary
puzzled replied to louisiana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
thank you for your kind lesson in electoral boundaries. changes DO usually damage labour's prospects, so it is not a matter of perspective or even perception. it is a fact. you, I suspect, are a lib dem, so any change enhances your prospects.. altho not, I fear, in either of the constituencies under discussion. -
Parliamentary constituency - changes to boundary
puzzled replied to louisiana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
the boundary commission do the rejigging and greatly resent any suggestion of party bias. I am sure that's true, but the changes do usually damage labour. our street has been shifted from tessa's constituency to hattie's. I don't mind that as I like her (but wouldn't let her park our car), but we are a bit bothered about having peckham in the new name as we are zealously east dulwich!! -

god help us all from busybody councillors trying to involve themselves in arts projects. with respect (ahem) stick to street lighting and emptying bins. -
North Cross Road sub station - art installation

this is truly appalling cr@p in several cr@ppy colours. stick to local politics, mr barber, and don't stray into alien territory. -
I posted a msg about a reports of a wierd woman in peckham rye park allegedly trying to feed poisoned treats to dogs. the posting seems to have been deleted. why is this? as a dog walker on the rye, I can assure you that the dog owners are all really concerned about it. I wanted to know if anyone knew about it. it seems I shall never find out. perhaps a list of prohibitions could be published, as you chucked out an perfectly innocent enquiry about water main works in friern road last week. I am aware of your intensely liberal attitude to knife wielding young people in lordship lane, but a forum is a place for all sorts of thoughts, likes, dislikes and attitudes. if there are to be restrictions based on your hostility to some of us then maybe you should look at yourself.

much anxiety among dog walkers in this park. they have been warned that a strange woman with long grey hair is trying to feed poisoned snacks to the dogs. can't find anyone who has sen her. might be another urban myth like the peckham panther or the surrey puma, but if is true it is really terrifying.

dawsons heights built on roman burial ground
puzzled replied to betsy555's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I certainly think primrose hill generally has more going for it than dawson heights, which is a bit of a monstrosity -
do not underestimate sainsburys corporate muscle and their willingness to use it. I recall when the dog kennel hill megastore opened. suddenly there were traffic wardens and police all over lordship lane, ticketing parked cars. my own car was towed away from a side street. this went on for weeks until mr tanna the pharmacist started the traders association's successful war on the council to save lordship lane street parking. I have no difficulty in believing the dark forces are involved in the attack on val's store.

yesterday afternoon at 3.31 the electricity in parts of se22 and a couple of other post codes went off.. and the fifth time this years. all in the same group of postcodes. this is the third outage in a month. this time supplies did not resume until 11pm. asking edf for an explanation of this strange coincidence is like trying to plait sawdust. the other strange coincidence is that more than 2,400 house were reconnected, leaving 100+ still in he dark and cold. the same 100+ as on all the other occasions. what the hell is going on? I should add that two of the power cuts happened in the summer months so they can't grab at the weather as an excuse. does anyone have any information about this? could it be connected with the massive underground reservoir being beuilt by peckham rye?

(odds for the Dulwich & West Norwood seat at the next) General Election
puzzled replied to shadsy's topic in The Lounge
tories have NO chance round here... not even in a very bad year for labour. so you've heard wrong -
an update. a tory and a labour councillor were subsequently called.both responded almost immediately and both were of tremendous help to the three shops involved. experience shows that calling the southwark council call centre gets you precisely nowhere. barber set himself up as the port of call and no one was being unfair in expecting some sort of response, certainlynot when polling day is the first thurs in may. sorry to offend the lib dem massive on this board, but there it is.
