DMC have a coil fitting clinic every few weeks but think you have to be registered there. I'd have thought other gp surgeries off it too though.

Early waker "Lark", activities needed
patt1980 replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I found quite a few of the stay and plays started at 9am - Ivydale, Ackroyd and Besssemer do I think and I used to take my early bird to one of those when she was that age. Or I'd just head out to Goose Green Playground or to cafe nero for a much needed coffee for me! Horniman gardens are open early and the cafe is from 9:30am so can always grab a coffee and have a play before the museum opens. Peckham pulse softplay is from 9am too and jelly tots soft play cafe in herne hill opens at 9:30am i think. I found we couldn't venture anywhere that far/exciting in the mornings if I wanted her to sleep at home to be honest though unfortunately! -
I always remember apple bobbing at halloween as a kid which was fun.

Artastic holiday club (half day) at JAGS Prep and Fitforsport (half day) at Dulwich Sports centre take kids from 3 and my daughter enjoyed them both. I think they are running them in half term.

Great news! I am also in the camp of waxing lyrical about Nicola to other parents with bad sleepers, her methods really do work.

We've tried every 6 months with my now 3.5 year old with small amounts of baked in dairy (following milk ladder introduction thing dietician gave us) and i'd say since 3 she's been able to tolerate it but not in huge amounts e.g. she can share the odd croissant with me or have a little piece of birthday cake or mash made with milk but not every day. We still tend to 'fail' the challenge at more than 1 teaspoon of yoghurt but are happy that we've reached a point where most accidental slip-ups with biscuits or cake when we're at a party or something don't make her too bad anymore. About to start it with my youngest when he turns 1 next month so fingers crossed he'll grow out of it a bit younger.

Good luck Nicola worked for us pretty quickly so hope you get some sleep soon!

Ideas for stop-over on way to Aus?
patt1980 replied to Bonfire2010's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hua Hin and Cha am are about a 4/5 hour taxi from Bangkok airport and we did a 5 night stopover there on way back from oz as likewise didn't want to do another flight. IS nice but not as nice as thai islands in my opinion so not sure for 2 weeks. Think we stayed at Anantara resort. Also pre kids did India en route to Oz and was amazing, wasn't a stopover as in brought two separate tickets but cost was about same and split journey about the same as thailand (one 10 hr and one 12 hr leg). Kerala would be great with kids for 2 weeks, could do backwaters and then down to Varkala or something. -
My first was a dummy addict and we got her a Sleepytot (comforter you can attach dummies too) at abour 4/5 months and she learnt to put it back in pretty quickly. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sleepytot-SLE-SM-C-Bunny/dp/B001FXDUB2 she kept this till 2 1/2 when the dummies went to the dummy fairy and she kept the comforter. Saying that we went cold turkey to get rid of the dummy at 7 months with my now 9 month old as he was having other sleep issues that whilst weren't caused by the dummy it wasn't helping wit and it wasn't too bad but i do miss being able to offer him that comfort when he's poorly etc

Enclosed toddler friendly areas
patt1980 replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Family Room Discussion
A bit further afield but inside the turbine room at the tate modern and southbank generally are great for a car free roam for toddlers. Also the area behind the surrey docks farm along the water was popular when my eldest was younger. I also recently discovered tiny gym at Camberwell after recommendations on here and it's got a lot of space and is cleaner then a lot of other softplays plus has more gym like equipment. Think it's on Monday and Thursdays at 10:15 and 11:15. -
Anyone know if a sleep advisor/trainer?
patt1980 replied to minimac's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Another vote for Nicola here! My 7 month old was waking every 2 hrs through the night and having had a consult with her and a looong weekend of implementing her suggestions he now sleeps 11-12 hrs straight! -
Sorry you've got another CMPI baby Strawbs, I went through this with my second one six months ago and had also thought/hoped i was due an easy baby this time:-) Saying that as you know the signs etc and what to push for at the Dr I have found it a lot easier to get the situation sorted this time. Although my second is diff in that he is much more sensitive to soya protein as well as CMP then my first was so having to really label check as we start weaning. We didn't find aptamil pepti worked for my daughter so this time I went straight to Neocate and luckily my son doesn't hate it. Could be worth a try to put a few drops of vanilla essence in it to make it more palatable at first as this helped us. I have found the CMPA Support Groups on facebook a real font of knowledge this time round so may be worth joining https://www.facebook.com/groups/Allergy.diet/ Hope you get it sorted soon.

My Favourite Nursery - what's it like?
patt1980 replied to Ruth.J.Davies's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My daughter went there from 1- 2.5yrs and I was very happy with it. It provided a lovely nurturing environment for her and the staff were all lovely. Personally I find ofsted reports for nursery level education a bit arbitrary and would recommend visiting and getting a gut feel for a place. -
Sainsbury's have dairy free eggs at the moment and also plastic egg shells for DIY easter egg hunts that can be filled with choc alternatives which is what I am planning for my CMPI two.

Another vote for Nicola from my 3 year old too.

Your son sounds like my now 5 1/2 month old was Jenny as he only liked sleeping on his side too. I also had a bednest and he could only sleep; on his side in that/ on his side in the bed next to me or on his tummy on me and i really worried too about when the time came to move him to a cot as I wouldn't be able to see him but actually its been ok (only been 2 weeks though i guess). He kind of rolls a bit on his side in the cot but not fully and only flips to his tummy in the morning when practising his rolling when he's awake. I actually notice that if i have him in the bednest if we're having an unsettled night he goes back to full side sleeping and I think it is slightly because of the angle of it and also he smells me and wants to get closer. I do have the angelcare monitor pad under the cot mattress though which provides me with a bit reassurance so that might be an idea if you are worried.

Any recommendations for parent and toddler yoga classes ?
patt1980 replied to BeadyBoo's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Yayna teaches a 'little yogis' class on Tuesday afternoons at her studio in the gardens. I haven't been to this class but her pregnancy yoga class was great. http://www.theyogaroom.org.uk -
Reflux in infants - advice Please
patt1980 replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Bluedark - not a complete expert on spotting allergies other then my experiences but often finding underlying one is a case of trial and error and challenges as you are doing. I think they blood test or skin prick (i think it is same thing they are testing for just depends on circumstances when to do either, guessing skin prick takes longer to get an appt as needs to be done in clinic at hosp) for the most likely allergens which are cow's milk protein, eggs and nuts as they would make up the majority of cases. However these would only show up an IGE mediated allergy (an antibody created by immune system in response to allergen) and a lot of cases are non- IGE mediated which means they will most likely grow out of them. For example I have always been allergic to nuts and skin prick tests show this and i won't outgrow it but my 3 year old with dairy allergy didn't ever get a reaction from skin prick test and is now showing signs of growing out of it when we do a challenge every few months. Hope that helps. I also found this website really useful for info about Cow's milk allergy http://www.isitcowsmilkallergy.co.uk/ -
Reflux in infants - advice Please
patt1980 replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I just went through this too have a 3 year old who had severe reflux and CMPA who only improved first time round when moved onto neocate at 8 weeks and a 4 month old boy who also has cmpa and soy allergy (I went dairy free whilst pregnant this time but found out through a few slip ups and also wasn't being strict enough about soy as my daughter hadn't been as sensitive to that)and I pushed for neocate for him and it was the only thing that again sorted him out. It is very sad it happening again isn't it but at least you are armed with all information this time. I just got my gp to prescribe neocate as I knew all the signs from last time and he'd dropped 3 centiles as he'd refuse to breastfeed and arch and scream so didn't actually bother going down the reflux meds route again as I was pretty convinced the reflux was again just a symptom of underlying allergy. I stated off mixed feeding with it but after a couple if weeks you could clearly see him in psi if i 'd breastfeed him so went fully onto neocate . Was again really sad to stop bf'ing but like last time seeing my baby transform into a happy smiley boy made me think was right decision for us. I just had dietician appt at kings for him and she said there is a high incidence of siblings having same allergies and intolerances which I don't think is conveyed enough to you to be honest as I know it was the one thing I was so nervous about having my second. Good luck and feel free to pm me as all very fresh in my mind only being a few months ago. -
My daughter just got bought a lovely rag doll from m&s and they have quite a few nice ones. http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Large-Scarlett/dp/B0033T8D9U?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_8&nodeId=42966030&sr=1-8&qid=1386191465&pf_rd_r=0HXH4R6C1MNE2ZRN6607&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=321381407&pf_rd_s=center-3

Terrible pelvic girdle pain! Helped needed
patt1980 replied to EllenaV's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I feel for you as I have a 3 week old baby and a 2 and a half year old and was in exactly this position 6 weeks ago. I went to see Russel at Dulwich Physio (in DMC on Crystal palace rd) on the advice of others on the forum for PGP and he really helped to get me through the last few weeks of pregnancy with a treatment a week and he would tape up my back to hold in the sacro-iliac joint in between. With this and also using a heat pack at night it got a bit more manageable, I also found that for me bouncing on the gym ball which I was doing a fair bit at this point actually really aggravated it so when I worked that out and stopped it helped. To give you some hope it cleared up for me within a week or so this pregnancy and even though I am tired with a newborn I feel great being able to actually move again! I found the last few weeks with pgp and a toddler much worse than recovery from a fairly tricky labour and sleepless nights. Good luck. -
Frustrated baby who can't walk but wants to!
patt1980 replied to Sarie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I can second the vtech walker as my first loved it to help her in this inbetween stage. It's not a beauty but gives them quite a lot of entertainment for quite a while. -
I also heard this at the lanes 'meet the midwife' session last week. It is not definite but they are concerned that funding may be pulled in the future and did say if we were happy with the midwife case loading care we had received it would be really helpful to write to the head of midwifery at Kings directly or through PALS which I plan on doing.
