  1. LOL @ Bon3yard! Natasha, I think its time you crawled back under your bridge, it's getting late. To everyone else, I think this is relevant: http://www.lerepairedesmotards.com/img/forum/dont-feed-the-troll.jpg Edanna, she has been giving it serious thought, but all the boutiques have really pushed the price of property up..
  2. Its just so sad, how many centuries of civilisation and people still can't see beyond the colour of someone's skin? Oh, and I thought ros bif was a term of endearment as the French came over here to learn how to cook it? And yes, it was offensive, along with the rest. Thankfully the wife loves English cinema and drama, so has quite a good knowledge of effective cursing. Also, I don't know anyone who would call a French person a "frog", thank god. Funnily enough, our new neighbour is French and is absolutely lovely!
  3. I decided not to post the rest of what was said. Anyway, would you shout "rice and peas" after a black person walked by? "Chicken tikka" after an asian person? Why not try that in the USA, you would soon find yourself on the end of some attitude adjustment. Funnily enough, in my experience, women tend to be more racist than men in the UK.
  4. Good idea, count me in :))
  5. A fair bit of racism goes on in ED, one of the reasons I always pick up the wife whenever possible, and why we don't go out locally at night due to the moth like effect the pubs have on idiots. Over the years we have experienced racism from pretty much every racial group you can imagine in London, and a fair bit in ED and Forest Hill. Today was really pathetic though, a damn shame I wasn't around as I'm fed up of this kind of shite. So the wife was walking home, and this white (are we allowed to say a persons colour in a description on the forum any more? White myself incidentally, so hope the PC collective don't jump down my neck here..) bloke walked out of the alley behind Moo-too, he was around 45-50 and shouted after her "Oi! Sushi!"... I mean, wow, incredible the xxxx managed to guess where she comes from, but, really, WTF? Just what is up with that shite? This kind of shite makes me so angry. Seeing as she is an expert chef, maybe we should open up a Japanese restaurant, if you are reading this mr white trash, there'll be no fooking sushi for you though! PS Sorry for a messy post, am just pretty angry. (xxxx - rude word removed - The Administrator)
  6. "Hell is around the corner" by Tricky must surely be a good (and accurate) contender? :))
  7. I hope it has more longevity than the (overhyped imho) first one. Personally, I'd much rather get my game on with Llamatron on the Amiga than Geometry wars any day, on the other hand its good to see more back to basics gaming being developed and pushed, then again its not really a concept that could / should launch yet another gaming "franchise" imho and would have liked to see the team have done something different instead.
  8. Award for best consistently good and entertaining swearing in films should surely go either to Fear of a black hat or Who's the Man?
  9. Even more goodness: Run Batman run! http://www.comedycentral.com/sitewide/game_player/index.jhtml?game=177725
  10. I'd love to hang around and blare out some quality Japanese tunes [do people have to play only what is on sale in the shop?] but am constantly broke, so couldn't contribute financially. Also, there's probably only 50 or so people in the area who would want to hear what I'd be playing. Good luck though! I have to confess, we thought the place was in fact some kind of avant garde postcard shop or something...
  11. Wii mote gets the Eneloop treatment! As a big fan of Eneloop technology, this is a very sweet piece of news... http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-16442-The+Ultimate+Companion+for+your+WiiMote%2C+Sanyo%27s+Eneloop+Wii.html
  12. Never heard anyone use it, just sounds like general ignorance. My brother who we care for is autistic. I don't know about "preffered" or anything, and its not like there is just one type of autism anyhow. I do know that a fair few people in America with Aspergers syndrome refer to themselves as "aspies" as some kind of self-affirmation or something. I can't see it taking off here though, you don't see any intelligent black people in London calling each other Ni**a do you? (though you may hear some idiots do it).
  13. The beeb just put up a story on Monkey (proper name Saiyuuki) here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7520243.stm I have the recent remake of the series mentioned in the comments along with a movie with much of the same cast that came out last year in Japan, which are both well worth watching, it just shows that a good story really does stand the test of time!
  14. The government is going to lose more money on staff costs, checks etc., not to mention cash on PR, backlashes, medical care for staff who get physically abused trying to enforce this nonsense. They'd get a hell of a lot more people back into work by abolishing the nonsense of only allowing unemployed people to study for more than 16 bloody hours a week and fund [not cut back on as they are doing now] more adult education plus help more towards "concession" fees, which are still, for the most part, too expensive for unemployed people.
  15. Just to bump the thread, some info on the new [last?] Castlevania for the DS, out soon here [sorry its an IGN link...] http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/888/888646p1.html And FFIV [one of the best snes rpgs ever [despite being a "lite" version of the game] has just got released over the pond: http://na.square-enix.com/ff4/ Shame about the localised voice "acting", but meh, at least the game will hopefully get the audience it deserves!
  16. The Charlatons - Mis-take
  17. You're most welcome Piers, always nice to see your pictures and more often or not end up thinking "how the hell did he come up with shooting from that angle???"! Will post later regarding lenses, cheers! Incidentally, nobody has posted about [quite possibly] one of the most active sites for user submitted images - 2chan! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2channel Unfortunately, once you leave the mother ship, you also lose your right to post there, but its a great site for getting ideas on subjects, composition etc. There is an English equivalent - 4chan which also has a photography section /p/ - but beware, unless you wear an asbestos jacket whilst surfing, you may end up with 3rd degree burns when asking opinions of your photos there! Oh, a word of warning, 2chan is very often not safe for work! And sometimes gets hijacked by pedos, psychopaths and users seeking revenge on their ex-partners - you have been warned! But also, prepare to be amazed. Relevant links to this thread here: http://may.2chan.net/27/futaba.htm http://up.2chan.net/w/futaba.htm http://up.2chan.net/d/futaba.htm http://zip.2chan.net/z/futaba.htm
  18. Hey Ant, cheers, I just may do that if I can squeeze some time in-between studying, fixing up the house and finally building a new deck with all the lovely components that are sitting around screaming to be made use of, and getting off my arse to go back to learning Dreamweaver (again!)... By the way, I found a great site for those of you with older kit without a manual: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/ Thought maybe someone here might find it of use? Most of my kit was given to me by my late father in law in Japan, he was a very keen photographer, but sadly could not teach me all he wanted to due to his advanced age and eyesight. I credit him entirely with getting into photography and indeed his last words to me were "make sure you take lots of pictures!". Every time I pick up a camera his smile comes into my mind, so I do my best to employ his love for photography in my meagre efforts.
  19. Battle of the planets/G-force, Dangermouse, Flash Gordon [live action], Jackanory, Starfleet/X-Bomber, Pac-Ma, Rentaghost, The red hand gang, Mr Ben, Monkey, Shogun
  20. Thanks for the info there Piers! I'm used to shooting film with my Eos/Minolta SLRs and with my everyday camera, an old Ixy 500 so am struggling a bit with the 40D at the mo, but enjoying it immensely, I love how the menu system isn't much more complicated than my pas. Do you mind if I pick your brain about lenses by the way? :)) I really like the wedding picture, I must start to think more about framing pictures, the wife is maddeningly good at it unlike me! I have noticed in your pics on this thread [the ones around Bond St come to mind] that you have a knack for capturing an image in an unusual, yet pleasing to the eye way. Jealous? Moi? :-$
  21. If you want to create an "antique" effect for some reason [social networking site etc] and the deck you are using doesn't have Photoshop [or similar[ installed, this site may be useful: http://labs.wanokoto.jp/olds Just right click and open your converted image into a new tab to save. Note there is an English option in the right hand corner. By the way, does anybody else on the forum shoot with a 40D? If so, could you offer any tips regarding the custom user settings? Cheers!
  22. I thought the best remedy for a Speccy that was acting up was to put a cold carton of milk on top, allowing you to return to flying around in Mercenary or exploring the weird worlds of Wally Week ^^
  23. Metal Slug 7 on DS is sheer genius! Anybody else braving it on Hard? http://youtube.com/watch?v=4bpCBXJTXh8 This looks interesting, won't fit the mario kart wheel though.. http://wiinintendo.net/2008/07/14/introducing-wii-motionplus-accessory-for-the-wii-remote/
