Thanks Renata, Good to hear its been allocated funding for improvements. I do know of the new playground by the cafe and it certainly looks like it will be an awesome play space when it's finished. I hope the two playgrounds can co-exist goi g forward, they offer different things - not just in terms of equipment- the adventure playground has a youth club feel for older kids who arrend unaccompanied - such a rare resource these days. That's the dog kennel Hill adventure playground rather than Peckham rye. When I spoke to the staff last year they werent hiring the space but you could set up a table/birthday space for your party (for free) - it just wouldn't be exclusive to you. I sincerely hope the playground survives in the midst of the development around it, its a fantastic resource, with really great dedicated staff, for the local community but I fear lack/reduced funding from the LA may take its toll.... wellington Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > They do private hire. Are you working part time? At my work you add your full-time holiday allowance to the number of bank holidays entitled (8 usually in England) and multiply it by the number of days a week you work and divide the whole lot by 5: For example if you work 3 days a week and get 25 days holiday pro rata your holiday allowance for the year would be: ((25 + 8) x 3)/5 = 20 days (including all bank holidays)

my understanding is that only 15% of places can be filled by scholarship places (so 60 places for a 400 yr 7 intake), and that the kids obtaining scholarship places are 'ranked' rather than lottery. So, the best performing 60 kids will be offered scholarships first and your position on the scholarship waiting list is your 'ranking'. The other list is total lottery. The system is less than transparent, but we can only hope it is conducted fairly, in which case the lottery side of it seems to be a fair way forward.

We stayed above Birdies restaurant in Whitstable - very spacious, a short walk to the beach and highstreet. I worried that it might be a bit noisy being above a restaurant (and I'm super sensitive to noise through walls) but it was fine. Went with 2 small children and had a lovely time.

We are in a similar position with Sydenham girls, i would say no. 32 on the waiting list for Kingsdale is pretty good, hilariously we're at 330(band 1) so scratched that off the list.....

Hi Renata, I think this system has been in place for the last couple of years at Harris Girls ED. When I spoke with the new head during our school visits she gave me the impression that she wanted to move back to 100% distance based allocation (after siblings, SEN etc) but dwasn't able to change it in time for the 2018 start. We have been offered Harris Girls and whilst not first on the list, we were very impressed when we went to visit the school, I too cannot understand why the local community consistently overlooks a school which is 3rd in the Borough for results (after St Saviours and St Thomas the Apostle). What really grates though is the disdain folk have for a school that they know nothing about other than the chatter of the school gates. That 'chatter' is particularly damaging to the kids that go or end up going to the school....

Hi Renata, can you confirm whether you automatically go on the waiting list of schools listed above that allocated, irrespective of the Borough you are in? Eg, we're in Southwark, would we automatically go on waiting list of sydenham girls? Many thanks Kristy

we use Zen and have done for years after awful service from BT, Virgin et al. https://www.cable.co.uk/guides/is-zen-broadband-any-good/ They have been consistently good for 10 years or so, certainly not the cheapest option but as we both work from home a lot reliability is really important - and they are VERY reliable. Excellent customer support on the two occasions (in 10 years that I can think of) needed, UK based support. My husband often muses about getting a cheaper contract but we're really only talking about saving a tenner a month to go with one of the providers that just don't offer any reliability.

That's 20years ago, it's really disappointing that crap like this is dragged up 20yrs later - giving a horribly negative perception of a decent local school....

I too hope the cyclist is ok, my friend was killed at 18 by being swept off her bike by a driver opening a car door under an oncoming bus :-( .

Put 6 choices down, the grounds of appeal are very limited and only selecting 3 schools won't favour your appeal chances.

Dulwich orthodontist in West Dulwich is very good, you'll probably need a dentist referral for NHS treatment, not sure about private
