    Shale gas

That,s just an emotive piece EP, not science or anything, I thought you believed in good science. Are all communities in the US anti franking, running out of water, jumping up and down in anger at their 20pc reduction in energy bills etc. Renewables are expensive,w ay over subsidised and years away from making a significant dent in our energy consumption gas and fracked oil are far better Environmentally than coal fired electricity...the debate lacks any rationality in most of them their circles that I get in trouble for going on about :) just FRACKING= BAD end of....sigh
  2. Mmmmmm.....do you do a tax return PGC?
  3. I'll try and get involved - and completley understand how much hassle it was last year...but... half the fun was looking at people's predictions. Maxxi's mad punts El Pibe's continual optimism Mick Mac's obvious ignorance of all things football (not that he's much better with the oval ball stuff) Throwing in an 8-0 to wind up Jah etc etc

  14. I like it simple, like my EDF mates.....
  15. Well done. Money's not that complicated and the internet makes understanding it even easier. I despair at people's financial ignorance. As an eg. People who (rightly) care about things like the food they eat often know absolutely SFA about ;money' and almost wear it as a badge of pride. The only reasons I can think of using an IFA is if you need a mortgage and have very unique finance/income situation or for complicated tax arrangements. Investments, savings, basic tax stuff, pensions, all pretty understandable after an hour or twos research and then a skill for life if you keep up with tax changes budgets etc
  16. Universality? the Coalition govt has (rightly) taken many of the very lowest paid workers out of tax altogether by raising thresholds significantly. Your idaes is both and nuts and regressive - the rich workers would get 40% back on their larger commute bills just as a standard part of their tax return. I can just imagine all the say sub 22K earners really overjoyed to have fill in tax returns let alone the bureaucracy....mad, mad, mad. Tax relief for the middle class....brilliant.
  17. Minnesota, the state of bob Dylan and the artist formally known as Prince so not completely Hicksville (unlike Millwall).
  18. if you are american you probably like winners so you shouldn't be supporting any of the following teams: Locally: Crystal Palace Millwall (really crap) Charlton Sadly all crap. Dulwich Hamlet are our local non-league team but still get gates of a few 100 and it's cheap to get into and the bar's good value. In London other crap teams include: QPR just relegated; Fulham boringly average; Spurs - ideas above their station Decent London teams include Arsenal (OK), Chelsea (absolute scumbags) If you have a soul, you'll support West Ham, a quickish trip on the overland/jubilee/district line from FH and the only english team to win a World Cup You'll probably opt for Manchester United, but you live in London; you'll never see them and you admit you don't know much about football. These factors would make you a typical Man U fan....so go for them
  19. Hope the move and change all goes well. I can understand that you may wish to avoid posting on local issues, but you'd be sadly missed on the more general universal ones - even by those that don't always agree with you. We have less decent threads on those nowadays but it would be sad if your contributions ceased on those that we do get. These debates will generally be poorer without you - as they often are without our dear old friend(s) from Singapore. Anyway, all the best to you and the family.

Getting ?1k back off a ?3k season ticket > would be a start. I thought you were a socialist? The middle-class suburban commuters and stockbrokers from the home counties will be doffing their top hats and bowlers in your direction......may be even throwing them in the air with shouts of huzzah
  21. I dunno we have all these pokey old sho shops turned into supposedly 'cool bars', meanwhile 100s of victorian buildings purposely built for, you know, drinking, with space and light have been converted from pubs to pokey old flats....generation y/x? have a lot to answer for for abandoning our drinking heritage for dullsville boxes
  22. I think I,ve said it before but I am quite excited about the Premiership title race this year. I foresee teething issues at Man U. Arsenal , spurs and Chelsea all look competitive but I just edge Man City with their squad and I rate the manager. man city or a London club I predict.....er, not the Irons!
  23. You bring her up compared to some of the real travesties that have been given peerages in the past? I can think of several others dozen far less deserving than her whose peerages go without comment. Bizarre. finally....labour government?...did you miss that election a few years back, u know dour Scottish chap replaced by Home Counties toff?
  24. So to summarise, absolutely everyone has to pull themselves together
  25. my nan just put chicken wire round the dining room table and the family all slept under that
