  1. I can't help liking Mourhino but feel he's had a lot of luck taking over at Chelsea right now, they look a team on the up (credit to Benitez) with the older lot a bit more realistic about how much they can play and the younger ones starting to build their own thang.

Went to: Our garden for a Vodka and Redbull starter Victoria to wait for Begging Bowl - for 10 mins Begging Bowl - very impressed with food, less so with staffing levels for a place that packed, 35 mins before we even got our drinks. The Monty, nice let your food go down and last chance for proper beer, multiple beards, i felt naked without one. A bar, under the arches behind Bar Story (which was closed by then), starting to get hazy now but I was easily old enough to be everyone's father The Busy Building - via a massive queue. I quite enjoyed the queue as it made me relieved i don't have to do that anymore and my bladder just made it. Really like the BB, decor wise industrial urban warehousey vibe (I like), music downstairs OK a bit above school disco standard, upstairs loved it, Rare Groove, busted some moves but no trouser seems or blood vessels. Home before 2.
  3. :)
  4. ...and back to betting, Libetrian EW, without confidence!
  5. Otis Redding documentary on BBC4 NOW, already very promising
  6. I think he's on his way,
  7. We have a kids' free night on Saturday and the missus and I are thinking of hitting SE15 (it's hip doncha know). Thinking Begging Bowl (do we need to book?), that bar by the station and the Bussey Building (soul train) any other recommendation, ideas locally? I know, I know, I am ancient but the missus less so.
  8. Doh!
  9. And the 9/11 hijackers? Anyway, the point is that since last week the oh look at my wonderful left/liberal credentials brigade have been wetting themselves that millions of plebs will be burning mosques and sticking pigs heads everywhere so bend over themselves to say that Islam is a loved filled religion and is nothing to do with this....in contrast to their normal stance on bigoted, fairy story, often unpleasant tosh that it is and shares with Christianity and other similar unscientific rubbish. Meanwhile, a few 1000 idiots from the EDL prove what twats they are and that,s about it. Sod rational thought and analysis eh? Just as long as I am right on.....as I said before, a glass raised and lowered to Hitchens.

You really think his is insightful? Really? Really!
  11. http://www.standard.co.uk/comment/comment/peyvand-khorsandi-both-left-and-right-underestimate-political-islam-8635708.htm Just in today's Standard, please spare us Brand's emotive unintellectual rubbish. http://www.standard.co.uk/comment/comment/peyvand-khorsandi-both-left-and-right-underestimate-political-islam-8635708.html
  12. Where do I start, Good piece in Standard tonight I'll see if I can find, the Huffington Post piece posted by Woodrot, any grown up analysis, er, anywhere...if your Benchmark is the Guardian Online - emotive stating the bleedin' obvious - then I accept this is genius, mine's not.
  13. Everyone being scientific (nerdy), just have faith in the market. People won't like the idea, for a plane worth several hundred million and the good name of your company/brand having a qualified pilot (heck even 2) on standby at say ?500 a pop on a trans-atlantic flight is a no brainer investment even if they do SFA ...which is kind of EP's point
  14. Rooobish, the new self-serving Brand re-brand strikes again. I'm the 'people's intellectual' is just him peacocking with big words, in reality, like his piece on Thatcher, it's self-serving 'metropolitan on message' rubbish driven by his enormous ego. Can't people really see that? ..a bit depressing that he keeps getting this sort of crap all over social media and people, even clever ones, seem to think it's insightful.
  15. Chortle chortle chortle......old target tho

    David Bowie...

Now that we are entering the 1980s how do you look at the music of the 1970s? "Er, like this"* *Bowie does comedy scanning the horizon thing
  18. A bit dissapointing for me too. I much prefer the one on Melboure Road...but bumped into a scoop of forumites whilst tucking into my sorbet.

    David Bowie...

Just caught up with this tonight. Foookin' hell, loved it.
  20. That the average punter is wrong on way more than 52% of results. Had a small one on Dortmund on Betfair, better than 7/2
  21. EP where do I defend Catholicism? How do you know what I felt about Fallujah For fuck sake? You haven,t got a clue so start from stop making up what other people think and by slur their indifference to 1000s of innocents deaths. I am on the record on this forum for saying I stopped voting Blair after Iraq, which is more than other virtuous liberals on this thread can say....can,t we have any criticism of non western religons on the basis of liberal guilt and fear of being labelled a racist? Criticism, not denouncement, Mr 'you,re on one side or the other' Carnell.
  22. But many people whose bookshelves are no doubt creaking under the weight of Dawkins, Goldacre et al seem a bit silent on this.....
  23. Camberwell I heard
