Of course it's not a life hanger but it's a ?3 cupcake per kid and Moroccan trinket changer for a 2+ kid family
  4. Rents are going up because LL is hitting the chain retail marketers 'ooooh we should be there antenna' Upper Street syndrome. tedious corporate yuk coming our way, mull over that in Cafe Nero
  5. Recession that will kick in more especially when middle class families lose child benefit next April plus the fact that as the Forum shows time after time a fair proportion of unimaginative punters want chains, well, careful for what you wished for you're getting it. Another Indie shopping street bites the dust.

You're right about sh1t pubs mick I still like 'em! there were plento of really crappy boozers that weren't at all scary, nowadys there are few....there's plenty of crappy gentrified pubs among the good gentrified ones but they don't have the advantage of being cheap

    Scary pubs

Pubs that I thought were scary were the Artichoke in Camberwell (pre-Funky Monkey) - spomeone got shot in there The Montpelier used to feel unpleasantly unwelcoming (but the Wishing Well was always ok) The Green Man Cold Harbour Lane, someone got shot in there

    Scary pubs

Most scary pubs are ones where the Landlord makes it clear you are not welcome or safe, also pubs where you get asked if you're old bill are a bit unerving - so crim pubs basically. Linked to this I always felt scared in drug pubs back in the day ie walk in, buy a pint and wait to be approached Plus obvioulsy away at football in the past...especially where your accent wasn't local.

    Scary pubs

Ok KK .Mr B there are a load (and I mean a load) of crap pubs from E&C to Camberwell but I can't think of a scary one. Even the Carib. There used to be a Millwall pub with a load of skagheads on East Street in the 80s which was edgy but all the rest (that remain) are just a bit divey, pubs I wouldn't take my missus to maybe (well maybe not) but scary?

  14. 15 minutes drinking only with your right hand, then switch to only drinking with left hand for the next 15 mins any trangressors have to finish pint, keep it going all night - pointless drunken stupidity but that's what u want

Correct, West Ham become the first Premiership club to feature in the Simpsons, albeit with the wrong colours. Added to our fame as the only football team mentioned in Harry Potter I am expecting a rousing chorus of Bubbles at some point in the Hobbit. A famous hobbit, Elijah wot sit, also appeared as the least convincing football hooligan ever in Green Street of course...to bring it all nicely squared, circled whatever.
