  3. I think it's all a load of tosh as many know...but ...it could easily be argued that the C of E has lost its way precisely by trying to be wet, liberal and plaesing eveyone up until now and hence no-one has a scooby what it stands for...being a secular religion makes no sesnse really. A religon should surely be based on an idiotic set of myths or the writings of a single person as a spokesperson of god? Being thoroughly nice, liberal and caring without much else is a bit of a waste of time religioulsy Meanwhile, intolerant, bigoted, unplaesant Catholicism and Islam march on, the latter especially, often uncriticised by secular liberals. just pick on the wooly old C of E... As far as i'm concerned I'm with Swift they are all arguing over which end of a boiled egg you should open.
  4. Chelsea snd their fans were a bunch of unpleasant tossers before they hit the big time and they've added arrogance and the worst sort 'new fan' to their old unpleasant bunch. Hate that club, new and old.
  5. CHOMSKY!!! Gore Vidal was past the prime of his thinking by then....

  7. WTF are you wittering about SJ it's nothing like local businesses choosing to ignore the forum! What a bizarre conclusion. I am on social media and engaging just amazed at so much ill thought out rubbish that goes round.
  8. the Internet scares me a bit. So many stoopid people just regurgitating stuff they know sweet FA about. Sort of democratic but at the same time depressing. That and vampires.
  9. Not bad RD. Pretty impressed with our performance with our more creative players out and should have won. I fancy that both Spuds and Liverpool won't be looking forward to playing us.
  10. Serious thinkers? Oh noooooooooooo, please behave Rosie, I really didn't have you down as one of 'them'.

  14. And how will Israel Normalise relations with Iran for instance a country whose PM has said they want it wiped off the face of the world? The Palestininas have some ways to try and solve the conflict, they could maybe stop supporting and voting for Hamas who keep firing rockets out of territory that they were given by Israel in a recent attempt to try and normalise it a bit. The Palestinias too it could be argued are trying to make it manageable on their terms, with far less leverage admittedly, ie extract concessions from Israel using international pressure and then continue with hostility. Nope, I don't think it is within Israel's power to normalise it becuase their many enemies don't want them there, end of, non -Negotiable, so I agree it's untenable . Either Israel will cease to exist or it (the conflict) will go on for ever, I can't see a solution. Many of israel's actions and policies are despicable but so are those of the other lot.

  18. Er, I think you're both wrong but as EP says oil is practically an irrelevance. The US supports Israel partly as a legacy of the Cold War but just as much as because of its (the US) significant Jewish population. Still get a sense of evil Isreal from you both, without its US backed military might Israel would have been ceased to exist as a nation both in 1948 when it was attacked by its arab neighbours supporting palestinians in Israel and some threatening to finsih of where the Holocaust left off, and in 1973 when it was attacked that time unprovoked. The intrasigence on both sides is party based on the simple fact that many of its arab neighbours wish that it ceased to exist as do other some local non-arab powers. That creates paranoia and robust defence from Isreal but to make it the only sinner is blindness and taking a naive political line. For a while, a long time ago admittedly Israel did try but its despotic neighboutrs were by and lrge uninterested in true peace and settlement. Anyway, still its Arab citizens have the vote, better infant mortality rates and freedom beyond many of their fellow arabs in neighbouring states. It's a right mess and that's not just because of Israel by a long, long way.
  19. ...that maybe true but she snogged everyone else :(
  20. ...you don't know how close to the truth that is....actually, you do!
  21. i don't think EP was fightin' me, I think we share in our despair. Polarised, inflexible, irrational, hatred is winning unfortunately.
