  1. Welcome Jess and Sasha:) Jess, I was in the same boat as you, I didnt tell anyone at work until I was 20 weeks. It was hard- esp when the bump made an appearance almost overnight. Looking forward to meeting you on the 3rd - or for those of you that cant make it on the next meet. On the last meet up we were all trying to figure out where the "pregnant women" were as we didnt really have any bumps at that stage...Not sure about you ladies but for me- its rather more obvious this time around....
  2. Many thanks Jo - really appreciate it! Looking forward to seeing you all again. Caroline
  3. Nabz, I am in the same boat as you and its a minefield of pushchairs out there...not an easy choice for first time mums is it? My partner and I are leaning towards the Icandy at the moment as I personally like the idea of a carry cot. We all have different ideas, needs and circumstances so we got to find one that will suit our babies and our own needs, right? What I have noticed is that everything baby related so easily becomes a heated debate. Hey ladies, what happend to sisterhood and women solidarity? Good luck with the pushchair hunt Nabz, let us know how you get on;-)
  4. Thank you everyone, this is all really helpful. Yak- I truly appreciate any tips that are "anally retentive" as I am afraid that sums up who I am as a person. After all I am starting this thread two days before my 20 week mark.... What can I say? I just like to be organised and prepared - oh and I am so excited of course. Keep those tips comming - There are many of us that need them. Feel free to add your tips for the first weeks at home as well. /C x
  5. Hi all, There is a place called Green and Blue on lordship lane and they have a little backroom that I believe that you can reserve. I have seen alot of mums with their babies have their get togethers there. It seems nice as they sit rather privately away from the rest of the place (Good perhaps if we want to get "birth information":) from the more experienced 2 or 3 time mums... ) Here is the link http://www.greenandbluewines.com/ As the name suggests they do alot of wine and cheese but also do coffee and cake, lighter food etc. Its just an idea in case the usual suspects are booked or cant host that many of us but I am not fussy. Anywhere that can feed me will do at the moment. Hoping to see you all but will need to give you a def nearer the time which I hope is ok. Love Caroline x
  6. Jo - i am so impressed! Me and bump have had a scare and spent 4 nights at kings antenatal ward, now both recovering at home. On bedrest at the moment nut hope to be well for 3rd. c xx
  7. Thank you! Will read up on other thread, any other tips pls keep them comming!
  8. I have just spent 4 nights at the William Gilliatt ward (antenatal) and I could have given my right arm for a private room. It was intense to say the least. I have to say that the social problems aside (at times I felt I was on a live show of Jeremy Kyle) the care that I and my bump received was outstanding. From consultants to midwifes and nurses the compassion, experience and care that I received has been excellent and I have a new found respect for everyone who works there. With regards to the private rooms, I was told they really are there for the people that need them the most but if available you can ask for them. I got very teary one night when I was kept up for the second night running by inconsiderate patients (and their "birthing partners") and the lovely midwife moved me straight away at 4 am after my mini meltdown. She firmly grabbed my hand and moved me to another room, when she checked on me minutes later I was sound asleep :) I also feel very much reassured about the birth itself given that I have experienced the care of the staff already. My partner was offered to stay as well and he was treated to endless cups of tea and biscuits by the lovely midwives.
  9. Me and Mr would also be very interested
  10. Hi all, please can you share your expertise with me re what to pack for the delivery (I will be at Kings) I have had a look on the internet but it appears that it varied between hospitals what one need to bring. For example some provide nappies, creams, bottles (should breast feeding fail) and clothes for the baby. Does anyone know what Kings provide? Please share with me what you found essential, what you wish that you had thought of and also what you packed but felt that you didnt need. Any advise most welcome. Many Thanks in advance
  11. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows of any fitness classes for mums to be in the area? I want to be as active as I can for as long as possible so would be very grateful for any advice. I am not interested in personal training for this purpose so no need to PM me your prices if you are a PT. However if you are a group trainer or attend a any group sessions yourself I would love to hear from you! Many Thanks
  12. You seem to be a wonderful who enjoys a great relationship with your son. You have given him the stability and confidence to confide in you and gay or not - that is price less. I would let time tell. Encourage his confidence and keep building on the strong foundation that the two of you seem to share. I too had crushes on my girl friends throughout childhood and teenage years. I understand now that they were more to do with identity searching and perhaps envy. Ie I wanted to have/be what other girls were or had. You do not really know what is what at the age of 9. My little sister wanted to marry me when she was 8 and she became hysterical when we told her that was not possible (as we were related not because we were both girls:).
