  1. Great ideas ladies!! I used to be an aerobic instructor back in the day...looooong time ago but am sure i can help with some excerises if needs be. Have started adding some squats, lunges and planks during my walks with isaac. Crikey- where have those muscles gone?
  2. Aaaw susy, i remember those days at school (although i was Probably older). So harsch!! I dont have much parental experience as of yet as my lo is so young but i remember that when girls were mean to me at school i always took great comfort from doing things with my mum. Just being in her company and getting her praise and encouragement helped me to get a new sense of esteem and take my mind off things. But again i was prob a little older. I think you are doing a mch greater job than u give urself credit for!! Giving ur daughter the time to talk, listen to her and try to help her. You sound like a lovely mum- one i would have liked at a young age when girls
  3. Hi all, Sorry if this seems daft i am just wondering. I grew up with this, used it constantly on my little sisters red bums etc. why is it seen as a no no nowadays? Just curious! And nope havent used it on ds, i am just wondering why the change in recommendation. X
  4. Hi Not for one minute pretending to have all the answers but is it possible to sit down and re assign house hold chores? we decided what chores should be done by each of us. In this case (we have a newborn) i do majority of baby stuff and cleaning, he does all shopping and most of our cooking.it works for us and it helps that we both know what is expected to be done. My oh is very good at shopping and cooking i might add which is a godsend! I find it a work in progress i guess as we are getting used to parenthood- but we are trying!

  8. Strawbs, i am in!! Also to anyone reading please dont feel or question if your situation is bad enough to post. It is not a competition :) but hopefully all our experiences put together can be useful and a source of comfort regardless of severity! That is what i hope anyway. I have one recommendation that truly has made a difference to me, a babybjorn bouncer. It means that i can eat, shower and very occasionally do some house work. Before i got it i could do nothing at all as i was rocking baby all day. I still spend most of my days carrying him but i can get to eat etc now whch has made a huge difference to my well being. Strawbs also gave me the best advice when meeting me at my lowest point a few weeks ago. 'just do what you can to get through this hard time'. It is so true, in my case it meant a cleaner, ready made meals and earplugs.
  9. Hi lhell, I am so sorry you and your little one is going through this hell! I can relate so well to everything that you are writing. It is a lonley road and i know what you mean when you say that it is so hard to get out or anything done. For me this forum has been a great source of comfort and meeting up with some ladies on here has helped me more than any doctors appointment! Def keep lil one upright and elevate any positions where she is lying down even when u change her! My lil one is bottle fed so not sure how else to administer gaviscone but yes water would need to be boiled i presume. I am eith dmc and as i am sure you know the helpfulness of doctors varies... I would be very very persistant with wgat you need and push for a ref. do you have any chance of seeing a consultant privately? As other ladies said earlier in this thread there is a sliding scale of meds, gaviscone usually being the starting point. I am by no means an expert but there seem to be common that refluxers have issues with dairy, may be worth trying to cut it out if bf? Ladies like saffron, hello sailor, belle, stawbs and yellow sardine are all great at this stuff so read their posts as well! C x
  10. I am so sorry your little one is suffering! Its awful! I cant offer advice on the gaviscone as i mix it in the bottle for my lil one. We have had a good week or so but now feel back to square one again. He is on neocate and omeprazole and i thought it helped but feel so downhearted now. There has been a week of non stop crying, arching back, fighting bottle etc. It is so damn hard and at times it feels like it is never going to get better. Locked myself in shower with earplugs yday (hubby looked after ds) just to get a break from the crying- it breaks my heart. Why does he not seem to get better? Or why doesnt the imrovements last? After Every consultant app it appears to be getting better but the improvements only lasts a week or so. I just dont know how to help him
  11. Yay, a break from that rain cover! I also agree with the 'getting out of parents hair'...! Enjoy the weather and lets hope it lasts! C x
  12. I find this v interesting. Being swedish im used to a very outdooor lifestyle and spending time i nature is seen as sooo important to swedes(militantly so in my opinion). I remember us being forced to play outside in poiring rain and freezing cold. Teachers and parents chearfully going ' There is no such thing as bad weather, only poor choice of clothes'... Today i fondly look back whilst fighting with the damn rain cover for buggy so that 10 week old ds 'can get his fresh air'. ... Having said that and saffron you would probably know more abouth this scientifically han me but i do think asthma and allergies among children seem more common here. Interesting!
