  1. eh??? do we? Anything to back that up?
  2. some Tamiflu data
  3. And tamiflu doesn't help with swine flu anyway
  4. That wasn't out Newfield Green way was it *Bob*? Next to the frozen meat shop that sold clear bags of well.. frozen meat, unlabelled
  5. clearly not Ted I'm just basically saying people are entrusting a lot of details to someone who has the ability to prevent the same people accessing same - and I wish people were more "aware" generally Many are the same people who will complain about Government ID cards for example
  6. not read it quids
  7. Good points Ted - but even if the telcos built an awesomely specced network, teh problem of who owns what and how to get at "it" (and in the not too distant future, "it" could be more important things than photos and mp3s) in the event of a company going under, or a company deciding to just withdraw service Google Video subscriptions weren't huge so there wasn't a major outcry but they told everyone who had bought content from them that, overnight, they no longer had the rights to own, or play those videos..
  8. It's happened to me too Moos, me too I can confidently say that I have no important spreadsheets. On my own hard disc or in the cloud But one thing that differs from, say, quids fire example is the reason I'm asing the question. It wouldn't affect just you or me.. but millions of people simultaneously, with attendant outrage and, well... anything else?
  9. Of course when I say I'm WITH Mockney, I don't mean I'm as pro-active as him. Backups I have none - but I won't scream blue murder if teh worst happens - I'll know it'll be my fault
  10. I'm an Arsenal fan but with attitudes like that I think I'll be rooting for Celtic In the Castle
  11. Obviously I'm coming from the same place as you Piers (even if you soudn like you are scolding me!) I think the cloud is very useful, as long as people are aware of the limitations and issues around it - but I'm not sure many people are. A lot of this is happening "just because" and I don't think "we" are ready for the implications fown the road
  12. tch - ratty asks for invites, gets one and ignores it I have been rebuffed! Still it was very amusing to play a game of 1 vs 100 with Mockney Piers and anotehr friend from devon online the other night - very freaky seeing our avatars gesturing away in a big mob I crushed him btw ;-)
  13. Reading the story about how people who bought some books (Orwell, ironically enough) on Amazon's kindle store only to have Amazon remove the books from their own, personal reader (even tho they had paid for it) last week got me thinking about how many people have All of their music All of their photos Important documents and spredsheets Whatever else all stored in the cloud, and the cloud alone (ie iTunes, Flickr, Google etc etc) What if one day all of those companies disappeared and you no longer had access to any of your stuff - do you have backup plans?
  14. I was overrun.. I tried to change the system... but the system changed me ;-) Anyway, happyman, you'll be pleased to know that a whole bunch of us will be coming to the new restaurant next week as part of the curry club - usually between 8 and 15 people turn up but anyone is welcome to come along and join in (Kel, point taken, but it's still relatively "new" to some people. Like, say... the manager)
  15. Oh I think we can guess which restaurant And I think we can guess why happyman is asking the question the clues are all there... first time post... "asking" about a business... My guess is the new Indian up by William Rose where Coriander used to be
  16. then ye won't want to be hanging around the iphone geekery thread you'll want the "which phone works best for you" thread
  17. MrBen's long post made me chuckle MrBen's shorter post in response to BBW... made me howl
  18. Sorry LibraCarr but I don't see it - people in Sainsbury's or wherever are going about there business and haven't (as a rule) "suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as other mental problems." I read goose1 post as looking out for people suffering from symptoms like this - in a supportive way It is possible they meant otherwise but you haven't sought clarification - just become "very, very offended" which seems a bit hairtrigger-ish
  19. I have oft stuck up for the Castle and I will be going again, and would generally agree with Horsebox about a good mix of people in there but I was there last week when a bunch of semi-regulars were beyond racist to the illegal DVD seller then they bought a shed load of DVDs from him I'm not trying to pain the Castle or it's punters in a bad light - it's the first I have seen of it there - but I would find it very easy to believe James
  20. Libra Carr Are you saying people attending sessions at the Maudsley for whatever problems would benefit from an encounter with a less-than-customer-focused bus driver? Perhaps goose1 was pointing out that people do need to travel to the Maudlsey and don't need that kind of aggro
  21. well you can listen to music for free on spotify.com, or youtube But if you want to own music you should pay, of course...
  22. agreed MP - Pretty uninspiring Mercury list this year I know all the nominations but I wouldn't spend money on them and I would have a hard time listening to a whole album - they are more "ok if they are on at a festival" type thing
  23. a third faster processor as well does help - and it claims to have a better battery life (altho that is debated furiously on some forums)
  24. This is ridiculous - people throwing all sorts of unsubstantiated slurs with no back up First of all, when police are called to that houe, it's because "locals" have being getting their kicks from teasing the refugees. I used to live right near there and saw it many a time. As for refugees "coming over here and taking our jobs/or doing fack all but taking our houses" - that debate has been had many times but if you believe that life is THAT simple then it's not worth engaging you in a debate tbh
