You don't have to recharge it twice daily - if you use it for phoning and ipoding I would say every 2-3 days if not more And as Marmora Man says, it charges very quickly anyway - definitely no dealbreaker for me. Considering how much sheer USE I get out of the thing - frankly it still gobsmacks me And shazam only recognizes recorded music quids - but it's free, it not only texts you the song and band name, but discography, a link to the youtube video, a link to iTunes if you feel like actually buying (!!!!) music (in this day and age?) tour dates if they are on tour etc People used to have to pay 50p every single time! And all they got was a text with teh name of the song! pah

I just read that. "Topped himself" eh? Riiiiiight.... Oh and Carnell - hop to Gmail sharpish. Tis worth the "getting-off-arsage" Piers - are you interneting through wifi or 3G - wifi consumes something like 30% of 3G so try and do that if poss Appwise - skype for free calls and IM'ing Shazam London Bus and Tube Delux for travel info and planning Wunderradio for streaming pretty much any radio station I have ever heard in the world Allowance - for checking out how much of my contract allowance I have left at a given time Paypal News UK for aggregated news sources

The battery really isn't that bad tho is it? not if you ipod and make calls like a normal phone But the fact that it is effectively a laptop in your hand and I for one tend to use it like a laptop all day long - well best part of day froma single charge isn't so bad. It's a victim of it's own success really - no other product which does as much has a better battery life to my knowledge

according to walkit.com Hampstead tube to Charing X = 4.4 miles ED station to Charing X = 4.2 miles -
Ahh.. I walked by Neil Horan in the company of MrBen and we both did a double take. he is also the "cover star" of the book below which is consistently funny and scary in equal measure - seek it out, I urge you (Admin stole my copy) http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/images/0952494752

James. My fault entirely... Lenk quoted you but I thought it was his quote. Apologies. I still disagree with your assessment of course Bob ... Sorry (I spot a theme) I clearly missed you. Erm... Hi?

Sheesh - of all of the Food critics I think JR comes across the best besides, coming from someone who says they behave like an obnoxious Tw*T in their dealings with customers, how valid is it as a criticism?

I laughed mightily when I read the thread title and the author - I didn't need to read anymore

Apollo Moon Landing: Giant Leap or Giant Hoax?
SeanMacGabhann replied to HAL9000's topic in The Lounge
I hope you don't think I'm suggesting it's that simple. But I am saying we haven't made any great leaps as a species because of space exploration -
Apollo Moon Landing: Giant Leap or Giant Hoax?
SeanMacGabhann replied to HAL9000's topic in The Lounge
We are going to other planets for more food? We have plenty here! We just haven't found a way of sharing it (Big Lunch today notwithstanding!) - it'll be the same should we "make it" anywhere else. "Virus with shoes" as Agent Smith says... I know I'm coming across as a killjoy here but it was about whether the landing was a hoax or not. Umm.. will you believe me if I say I'm actually in a great mood? Marmora Man - absolutely true about Fort William of course. I had a great time up there - but the town itself when I first drove there? Several scenes from Trainspotting came to mind -
Apollo Moon Landing: Giant Leap or Giant Hoax?
SeanMacGabhann replied to HAL9000's topic in The Lounge
The hope thing I get...but "We've made it to space and from there the universe is our oyster. And in between we've made a number of further advancements to planets.".. I don't get at all The fact is we seem to be able to conquer technical problems but logistically we are as useless as we were back in the cave days. When we have a more equitable system on this planet, when we don't need to lie to go to war, when we don't have millions upon millions in poverty.. then I will say we are making giant leaps. Until then it's just rich boys and toys. Effectively I'm not immune to the excitement tho. I was born in the year of the moon landings but when the space shuttle launched, our little school in Ireland were all taken to the canteen and allowed to watch it on TV. It is excitement, it does make a young mind think anything is possible. But then that same young mind thought he could play for Arsenal so what did he know... -

Apollo Moon Landing: Giant Leap or Giant Hoax?
SeanMacGabhann replied to HAL9000's topic in The Lounge
"Hardly surprising.. there's absolutely nothing there. There was nothing there on the first visit. Nor the second visit. Nor the third visit. Nor the fourth. Or the fifth. Not even the sixth." Not to mention it cost a fair few (ahem) bob It's a bit like turning up on the day and buying a ticket by train to Fort William. It's extortionately expensive, it takes ages and when you get there you know you have to come back, but you are also pretty sure you won't be doing that again... -

Mind blowing achievement but no giant leap (how have we progressed because if it?) but hoax? No -
ratty, I'll send you an invite later Atthe moment 100 to 1 is free to to Gold members as it's in beta only - if you are a gold memeber you should see it plastered over the dashboard - just pick one of those and you will get an option to download the necessary it's a live thing tho so you can't play anytime - PM me if you get stuck and I'll try and help Keef - fair enough, Fable 2 or Oblivion for you then (Fable 2 is a bit prespcriptive for me - Oblivion let's you go aaaanywhere) It's a couple of years old now but still looks great
-
I'm aiming for Sunday but agree it's the same AND awesome every year
-
I have started to watch a lot of films through the 360 as well - either streamed from the laptop or downloaded from the film servoce... keef - I didn't know big, free roaming worlds were your bag - but there are plenty of stone cold gems on the 360. Piers didn't did Fallout 3 but it is frankly awesome once you get past a slow start..
-
Alwyas bought Sony consoles but not a PS3 - it just doesn't have anything worth buying on there (LBP possibly excpeted) - the 360 has way more games, a better (IMO) live service and all round experience And it's cheaper the Wii... has a couple of very good games but tbh I rarely switch it on
-
so, anyone else up for a bit of 1 vs 100 tonight? I think it starts at 6:30 or 7:30?
-
early 80s i would say - I came over for a while in 84 and all I saw were coins

2 things out on 360 this week 1 to 100 is a free download and let's you compete with thousands of others, with your avatar, in a live quiz show, sometimes for prizes. I enjoyed it far more than I thought but that was nothing compared to Lady Mac who has made me note the times of the next live events to take part.. slightly worrying Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition also out - still a true gem of a game, and that music!
