  1. I liked Brendan's post the best (again) Whenever I see another whinging post I think, as Brendan put it "Do I live in the same place as all of you?" EDITED: Which isn't to say I'm some sort of Stepford clone thinking everything is all cushty, sorted etc. But in the greater scheme of things most people who have the time to post on here and live in the area are living on the sunny side of the global mountain
  2. Indeed - and I was going to say so at the time but that usually leads to accusations of bullying - * sigh *
  3. Not so much typical of the forum but typical of some sort of people. Specifically the sort of person who gets arsey with a barman and posts anonymously for the first time on a forum having a whinge Neither the Bishop nor the forum should worry too much...
  4. A more realistic forecast: I'll go along, speak to a few people, get served within 5 minutes and eat well. Sounds like Dante's Inferno rather that War n' Peace
  5. I'm more inclined to think it's a LACK of red meat this week - I may well go and rectify that in the next 30 mins or so. Although silverfox's faux-concern about how WR customers could have better access is undermined by his constant subtext of "prats" and is not helping my disposition
  6. is that good or bad Sandperson? It's bad enough people doing it but registering specifically to do and making it a first post - I'm spitting tacks this morning so let's see who else annoys me ;-)
  7. lenk - a far classier reply than mine.
  8. Silverfox - i'm fed up with fuckwits like you calling me marketing fodder and foolish. The queue is visible at william rose but queues exists at all supermarkets the last time I checked. Just what is your problem??
  9. so presumably what people want when leaving a venue with 15000 other people is a smaller tube station?
  10. Public Transport Link in Paid for by taxpayer SHOCKER!!!!!!! A lot of happy citizens in that part of the world thanks to the tube extension there
  11. and if we did find that out so what? All anyone who buys a lottery ticket is interested in is winning dosh - they have no higher moral goal than that in the transaction so I'm not inclined to listen to them complain about where the money goes The Dome exhibition was awful but I have always liked the building and think it an asset.
  12. No its not and you know it
  13. Was the construction paid for by the tax payer? I thought it was paid for by lottery funds and misc other.
  14. Im pleased the government was defeated anyway but also glad about the specific case.
  15. the consenus will either "yes" or "no" either way, is there any conversation to be had beyond that? Sounds dull to me
  16. Rather than start a new thread... I saw this yesterday If you were gay wouldn't you feel a BIT more nervous??
  17. err sues who exactly? And for what?
  18. She smells like lavender and free education...
  19. Of course they were - but remember how much they said regulation was red tape they could do without and the freer they were to do business the better for everyone? And it was a brave government that stood up to them for fear of losing all that "talent" to other countries. That mantra hasn't changed much...
  20. I don't trust this species to run nuclear stations - nothing to do with private v state. regulators don't come out of thin air either- they are appointed either by the industry itself (hmmmm) or the government Governments should be regulated by the people who vote them in. That's democracy. But human beings are lazy so we prefer to bitch about them instead
  21. Thinking about it, recent corporate history has been nigh-on perfect and my doubts are being assuaged Oh no, wait...
  22. It's pretty much the most regurgitated line by Wire fans Gerrard - have a look at the first post on this thread - it pre-empts just such a statement
  23. Great news from Mr & Mrs Keef !!
  24. Looking slick in the backstage video as well Ray! Congrats on the award
  25. I'm not sure where my mixed arguments are I am not debating the fact that government spending has increased - I just don't believe it is critical to the situation we find ourselves in. Had the government not had to step in to bail out various banks, and had teh banksthemselves looked after their business properly, governments globally would not have to deal with the fallout. that surely is the single biggest factor by some distance in all of this?
