I'm not sure where my mixed arguments are I am not debating the fact that government spending has increased - I just don't believe it is critical to the situation we find ourselves in. Had the government not had to step in to bail out various banks, and had teh banksthemselves looked after their business properly, governments globally would not have to deal with the fallout. that surely is the single biggest factor by some distance in all of this?
