  1. you mean Angela? Cassius - whereabouts you heading to?
  2. Well, rest assured Louisa, I'll be at my desk, doing my bit I will of course, expect a stiff drink from you at the Black Cherry drinks tomorrow night
  3. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say it won't be anything like on Monday But I'm not a distinguished weather forecaster or a council budget planner
  4. definitely a touch of the wannabee about him for sure
  5. how very true...
  6. yeap - what anna said basically - 4ish miles from Dulwich to city-ish = do-able 6-8+ miles = rapidly tails off in to diminishing returns basically, lots of us in the pub on Monday could have done it. I'm not saying we were wrong to choose to be there, but I don't think employers are automatically wrong to expect us to be at work - should be a case by case thing. But kudos to those companies who took the attitude that it's a once in a generation type thing and with a nod and a wink said "do your best"
  7. copleston_charlie - yes! I've always thought exactly the same thing and good reminder FelicityNormal - in short, I believe yes it does. In a previous post the manager stated: "Thanks for your message, we have got about 40 different organic wines , which are likely to increase this week, and then got organic, beers, ciders, ales and stout!Organic wines are more or less got same price as normal wines! if you like certain product you are welcome to suggest us, your suggestion will be taken into consideration. Regardin the name "Bossman" no great philosophy behind it, just bit different and something that sticks in the mind. " Hope that helps
  8. this brings back memories - I got in a right huff when it opened because the stock was much more limited than it is now and I too felt the prominent organic sign wasn't yet merited. Some good beer selections in there now by all accounts, including several organics which seems fair. i don't think teh wine selection is ever going togive G&B or even Nicholas a run for their money I'm with honk on the organic wine tip - really isn't something I'm inclined to chase down. And I've tasted some grim organic wines And the owner is an asian guy who used to run the costcutters opposite the Library by the Plough - really nice guy. I suspect slightly older than his youthful looks. I think he used to post on here too..
  9. did you MEAN to phrase it that way quids? It's every person's right to say no to something they aren't comfortable with ;-)
  10. IF I were to go to corporate HQ and look behind the curtain, I think I know who I would see...
  11. it was a tease really - Lady Mac picked it up in Sheffield about 1999, and we both still use it. It just reminds me of (gulp!) 10 years ago
  12. really? 90 minutes each way impossible? that sounds a bit soft to me. and it's 90 minutes in the snow.. it's still only 4 miles or so. People walk a lot more than that every day just to get some water in some parts of the wold sorry.. am I sounding like Louisa? It's just there is a difference between saying "it's snowing so much the traffic has stopped and we are better off messing around for the day" and saying "there is no way in the world I could walk 4 miles in 6 inches of snow"
  13. I thought Mick Mac's post contradicted itself?
  14. @CW1 anyone rocking up (as we used to say in 1999 ;-) ) is more than allowed, tis positively encouraged And this time it will be easier than usual because we will be in the sunken area at the back of t'Cherry
  15. I think it's dead tight of the employers to do anything like this And I think people not in essential jobs were basically right to take Monday off BUT we may be getting some insight into why councils have a bad name viz: efficiency My global corporation were no better tho - a staff that would make a skeleton look well-fed turned up. Even on the Tuesday On a related note, if anyone living in Dulwich (say north of the Harvester) works in the city, most of the west end or Docklands, saying it's IMPOSSIBLE to get to work... well that isn't really true is it? A pain in the arse, a hefty walk, yes.. impossible? nah
  16. that telly was the cheapest I have ever bought I'll have you know... And the thinnest as well come to think of it None of my grandparents ever had a telly. True fact. And if they did, would I really want to carry it across on a B&I ferries the 80s eh?? Nor do I have a car of any sort much less a 4WD And my missus is no fan of expensive bags I reckon me and snorks would get on fine AND agree about the financial crisis
  17. relax snorks, it's Anthony who is the focus of much ire
  18. given that the service at the Phoenix was hardly lightning-fast, look how that night turned out. One of the best nights ever so don't be put off be slow service... just buy bigger rounds
  19. charliecharlie's post about losing her forum thread virginity reminded me of this thread... I also chuckled when I saw this from quids on the first page And lo it came to pass
  20. he he I remember the apprehension well... and then the heart-sink as my thread fell down the list. Now you have started, you won't stop tho..
  21. I wasn't totally serious about the Jon Stewart thing peeps And I know conditions were attached to the bailouts - but they appear to be ineffective conditions so far - "have some money but lend more" "err.. ok!" .... .... ....
  22. There was the other side of this which was rather than giving something up, try doing something extra (for someone else) datewise I agree with keef, it's arbitrary. But then so is New Year's Eve really
  23. hi jm there was a spate of these a while back with all of the suspect locations mentioned full list here Are you saying you have used NO other cashpoints and it can only be the petrol station?
  24. How odd - the graphic changed from off-the-scale to not-even-started anyway, it was MEANT to show appreciation for moos post which made me laugh
