  1. But are they worth tuning in for without kids?
  2. Mick Mac I use Firefox at home and that picks up on my spelling by highlighting each mis-spell with a red underline. When I use Internet Explorer at work it doesn't have that function - but Firefox is miiiiles better all 'round anyway Sean Mac Back on football - Stoke are dreadful to watch aren't they?? I like to see the smaller teams do well but I have a choice of smaller teams now and I prefer Hull! From an Arsenal perspective the weekend has been mostly decent. We didn't drop points, Liverpool did, and at least one of Chelsea or Man U will today. Of course we need villa to drop points as well. And we played badly. Again.. but as long as there is hope...
  3. 5 minutes to go and as things stand quids predictions are frightening ly spot on. Maybe the bookies are on to a hiding today
  4. What everyone has already said basically. Glad she is ok and glad that she tried as well. You feeling better yet?
  5. Ouch .. my head hurts This My doctor was so insistent that I had too much to drink last night so firstly apologies to anyone I slurred over. But apart from the usual M&B queues at the bar I thought it was a top venue. God my head hurts Some people turned up I hadn't seen for ages and was great to meet again. I met a few first-timers at the beginning of the evening but lost track thereafter - hope they had a good evening. Quids surprise arrival was a proper moment. And apart from the good old natter I had with him everyone else he spoke to was also smitten. He does care you know ;-) Dear God my head hurts I couldn't have been THAT bad because having arrived home with a) a bottle of Laphroig in hand and b) Carnelli in tow, I was insistent that we didn't break it open. So I must have had a residual sense of propriety Right, off to have some cure - same time tonight everyone?
  6. It's not the side-effects of the cocaine....I'm thinking that it must be love stirring indeed quids for me, everytime Creature Fear on the Bon Iver album comes on as I walk across Blackfriars Bridge I get a huge "woooosh"
  7. Happy Birthday Jaws - see you at the drinks tonight x
  8. The Warehouse is a newcomer as well isn't it? Green Cusine? Might scrape in under 2 years - not sure tho`
  9. It's not consistently brilliant but it knows it's subject and comes up with some crackers Plus they slip in the odd Fatima Mansions quote which earns anybody or thing my undying love
  10. from yesterday's fiver: Imagine our shock, then, on hearing news this morning of Cristiano Ronaldo's high-speed smash in a tunnel near Manchester airport, which left his brand new Ferrari 599 GTB amusingly mangled into a steaming lasagne of hand-crafted carbon mush. As a statement from Greater Manchester dibble confirmed: "At about 10.20am police officers sitting about in Greggs the Bakers eating chicken tikka slices were called to the A538 Wilmslow Road near to Manchester airport following reports of a road traffic collision." A dark day, then, for the prancing horse, not to mention the flash car he was driving around in. But at least a breath test at the scene found only hints of furniture polish, rib 'n' saucy flavour Nik-Naks and the bitter taint of cruel, mocking laughter, rather than cooking sherry. "He's fine and is training as normal with the team this morning," confirmed a Man Utd spokesman, looking out across the five-a-side pitch as a swarthy figure with flaring neck muscles performed a series of humiliating nutmegs before running away and hiding behind Mike Phelan.
  11. To be fair to the Christians I know, not many would say SG speaks for them at all. No more than Blair spoke for those of us on the left. So, hilarious as that guy's remarks are I wouldn't use them in any kind of counter-argument
  12. Huguneot - calling my post a debate would be stretching things. And I'll accept "incoherent" but "bizarre" seems a tad harsh It wasn't meant to be a cogent all-my-thoughts on the topic. Just a few random musings following Piers posts. If you found the letter I quoted bizarre then I can't help too much I'm afraid - but I got what the writer meant As for my a) and b) points - hardly bizarre are they? I just find the repeated accusations, wheeled out by apologists, just... rubbish. So for the record: I condemn the Israeli military actions. This doesn't make me anti-semetic. I condemn Hamas bombings equally. But to echo Piers' posts - the two sides are not equal and the extent of the military action is what's most outrageous If we disagree fair enough - but I'm not sure what's bizarre
  13. from about 8:30 onwards is usually about right - sometimes it might appear a bit quiet at the beginning but it always picks up I'm aiming for 8:30
  14. Almost any possible opinion about WR has been expressed on this thread the young lad is just that - a young lad most of the staff are a joy I have had a few brusque encounters - I'm a big boy and can deal with that. Mostly I have a laugh and a joke with the people in there You can pay a lot of money in there - but you are usually getting the product to go with it. If you stick with basics (mince, bacon etc) then you almost certainly get better quality and usually (in my experience) cheaper product than the supermarket I waited years for a butchers to open in ED I'm not about to turn my back on it now Other butchers are available. I like most of them too. Sparkes is great but because of the van he can only have a limited stock tho. Would be good if he obtained a premises
  15. Anything that is usually "forwarded" to someones address book is almost certainly not worth it. How many people received "nice" texts from friends on New Year's Eve only to receive the exact same one from 5 other people As Annaj says... it's Delete territory
  16. and it could have gone in the jokes thread as well but apart from that Ms Cruz, don't let us put you off coming to the Phoenix tomorrow night (I saw on that thread you were taking the plunge) - we are friendlier in person
  17. It's almost impossible to try and voice an anti-Israei-Government opinion because a) one gets called anti-semetic b) one is asked why the same leftie, liberal pinkos don't condemn Hamas bombings with the same degree of... well, condemnation both are nonsense of course - plenty of Jewish people disagree with their governments actions, and plenty of us condemn the Hamas actions as well - but no-one tends to listen to us when we are doing that Best example of how wrong the current activity is was a letter I read in today's paper "Imagine if a gunman kidnapped some Israeli civilians in Tel Aviv and began shooting at the police. The army surround the building and, if possible, will kill the gunman. Suppose that in their attempt to kill the gunman, the army considered bombing the building. Would the army be ethically justified? If they did bomb the building and killed the civilians, could they argue that the moral responsibility for the killing of civilians rests with the gunman or whatever organisation he had belonged to?"
  18. The Internet?? It probably exists...
  19. Good God man, you'll be talking about pixies next
  20. I would say genius, but I'm fed up of bigging up the Maxter. That Eclair column could EASILY be real tho'
  21. and even then I only pick on them for divilment! It's the Carnell/MacGabhann venn that looks like Katie Price
  22. The intersection on our musical venn diagram got just a smidge bigger then? wow...
  23. I loved that Valentino single back in the day. I loved Haine's later band as well - Black Box Recorder Plus he has just released a book which looks veeery entertaining http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bad-Vibes-Britpop-Part-Downfall/dp/0434018465
  24. If you are an infrequent bus user then the whole thing can seem intimidating. I remember arriving in London as a nipper and not even knowing which side of the road to be on. Plus, you have this thing lately where seemingly random bus stops are marked as temporarily out of order - it's not as straightforward as us regulars might think KK That said, if I couldn't find a bus stop and thought well, I'll just walk to the next one, I MIGHT walk in the direction I intend to travel rather than backwards. Easily said now I'm not on Oxford St with people bunping into me every 2 minutes but still ... Buses are my chosen form of transport and I love 'em As for reinstating buses to Oxford Circus - I have no idea if the 176 will be full extended in time but it's not all bad if they don't. Oxford St is often at a stand-still anyway because of the number of buses and if we know the route starts at the Charing Cross Rd end then we can plan any shopping trips that way.
  25. This came on whilst stomping to work this morning - let it build, play it loud and then feel 10 foot tall (if I recall correctly Mrs Mockney was quite taken with this at a recent Union Chapel Gig
