And who used to babysit Slash when he was a nipper? David Bowie
-
And that is saying something - but yep, it's pretty near flawless IMO A much snappier Alan Moore book is The Killing Joke - another take on the Joker's backstory, how he came to be and how he and Batman relate. I thought it was ace when I read it 20 years ago and thought it was ace when I re-read it recently

If people post them on here won't that give advance warning to anyone attempting the quiz on the day? I have done one or two in the past and used some online resources some of them here but really it's best to use plenty of your own and make the quiz more personal. Nothing worse than a quizmaster contesting a wrong answer when he/she doesn't even know anything about the question because they are just reading from an "issued" list

Glamorama - Brett Easton Ellis was a rather good, if scary, read I thought I've banged on about how good the Road is enough already - and plenty of people disagree with me on that point. But really.. very very good

The Mexican in Herne Hill delivers to SE22 - it wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten but I never went back I doubt the new LL place will deliver food but going out for even a mediocre mexican is usually a good night. On a slightly related note - I popped into the Vale at lunchtime last Friday (yes yes I know..) and had their chili. The opposite of the gloopy-red-over-sweet chilis pubs normally serve it was decidedly lush and I will be going back for more. There, I said it...

copyright remains with you - I'll not post it until/if approval is forthcoming

indiepanda - probably best not to read all of DulwichMum's posts at face value As for the final - so how many people who were simply outraged at the whole Sergeant indident ("who are the judges to tell US who we can vote for" yadda yadda) saw him gallumping around the studio at the weekend and thought "what WERE we thinking...!?"
-
baglady - take comfort from the fact that you are not alone. There are hundreds, nay thousands, of people who lurk (read but do not post) - and nothing wrong with that. But it is more fun to get involved.. and now you've dived in..

Which remindes me, I have a video of Keef playing Hallelujah knocking around somewhere - and very fine it is too. Keef's version... not the shaky video

the usual brew of tittle-tattle, gossip and innuendo then TLS "A guy told me.." - well let's not question that source shall we?. And what were 2 self-made millionaires doing employing gypsies anyway, if they are so well know to be trouble? Interesting culture, the gypsies and whilst no-doubt there are members of their community who are as prone to criminal activity as well... anyone else from any culture, I don't see that gives anyone the right to tar them all with the same brush Although I suspect we can now expect to hear about "the #1 online website for gypsies, read what their prominent posters have to say about us working mugs" etc etc
-
Excuse me but what the fuck is with the casual slander of gypsies ? Out of order bbw

I bought my 6 foot plus one on the lane for ?25 last week... with free delivery. Either they saw you coming or demand has risen on the last weekend before Christmas

Crystal Palace Road (what's it like?)
SeanMacGabhann replied to Louise_mckenna's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Half way down Crystal Palace Rd is close to ideal for the area I would say. CPT and the Medical Centre on your doorstep, equidistant from the 12 bus route on one side and the 40/176/185 combo on the other, Peckham Rye Park a short walk away, Oh and you get to pick up parcels much more easily than most other addresses I lived on Friern Rd and walk down Crystal Palace Rd several times a week and all times of the day and I think you will love it there -
woodie here you go http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/donate.php

And I know how you feel - I was once a DOND naif. Then my brother came to live with us for a few months and forced me to watch it - I got well into it for about oooh 8 episodes and there is still something hilarious about the "tension" and the "tactics". But Noel's clothes creep me out

the "home early" bit I'm jealous of... Deal or No Deal on the other hand....

meanwhile, a timeline: BIG SAM (BS): A TIMELINE 666,000 BC: His preferred brand of football is all the rage. 1954 AD: His weight at birth. Sorry, his year of birth. 1999: Colin Todd resigns as Bolton manager with the club 21st in whatever the Championship was called back then. Caretaker boss Phil Brown guides the Trotters into the play-offs before BS is given the full-time job and all the credit. 2000: BS celebrates making his 1,000th signing since arriving at whatever the Reebok was called back then. 2002: BS celebrates making his 1,000,000th signing since arriving at the Reebok. Somewhere amid all the Emmanuel Morinis and Jurgen Sommers are a couple of ageing bargains. Bolton win nothing. 2003: Bolton win nothing. 2004: Greece win the European Championship, Millwall get to the FA Cup final and Second-Choice Steve's Boro lift the Fizzy Beer Cup. Bolton win nothing. 2005: BS invents dinky little microphone thing for discreetly communicating with distant colleagues but still shouts himself hoarse every day. Bolton win nothing. 2006: BS expresses his pride as Bolton make the last 32 of Eurovase. Second-Choice Steve reaches the final. 2007: BS stomps out of Lancashire in search of "silverware". 2007-8: BS arrives in Newcastle and quickly showcases his efficient team-building by deploying Alan Smith as a silky playmaker and Claudio Cacapa as the Brazilian Titus Bramble. No sign of silverware. Does, however, get a golden handshake. Later in 2008: Blackeye Rovers decline BS's job application, preferring to entrust their club's fortunes to a total novice. Today: "Blackeye Rovers are delighted to announce the appointment of BS as manager with immediate effect. BS has signed a three-year-contract." Soon: Blackeye Rovers challenge Charlton, Southampton and Nottingham Forest for a place in League Two.

at your desk at 6:30? I think "you lose" is more appropriate!

I would say the reality exceeds the idea

And I suspect we will always clash on it Keef - but looking at history, religion has won the whole "superior" "looking down at people" argument. Ditto the people on the bus preaching at me - it is they who are being smug and arrogant - I was busy keeping my beliefs to myself until they started And then look at the things you call Gillian McKeith - who are you or anyone to say she is nuts for example? I might well be wrong about beliefs out of thin air, but I'm consistent... And why can we disagree about lots of things but it's only religion that makes you want to punch me on the nose?
-
Keef - easy! I asked the question out of serious inquiry - I don't know a single JW who would have a blood tranfusion and I had no idea you could do the major level surgery described without it. I wasn't trying to patronise But when you have people who actually die through not accepting blood because of faith why am I up my own arse?? And hang on- this thread is about religious people who come around and annoy people - so I'm hardly out of line surely?
