What a game indeed. Arsenal arrogance or over confidence. Title winners do not lose a 2 goal lead in the last minutes. . Spurs gave a good game tho. . . More games like this please

All this talk of pensioners. If is a big boy. . Lined up for an interview. . That he didnt bother with. Hes not your dad. Hes not some random pensioner. He knew his daughter had a relationship with brand. And he has handled himself with more dignity than his daughter. Or any of the rabble complaining. Or. . . Well you get the drift.

Peckham rye station last night

it doesn't "mean" that at all. It's entirely possible, granted, but the fear of it remains higher than the risk. If these kids don't have any respect it could have something to do with the amount of cowardice we show. Plus people have a rosier view of the 70s than my memory -
My interest in this witch-hunt: I've been pretty shocked at several things. One is the obvious sidelining of some pretty important and serious stuff to make way for this - and WTF is Brown doing giving his tuppence worth - "here Gordon say these things about these terrible men". The other is the sheer lunacy of some of the people complaining. I've listened to a a few phone ins and people are going mental - and these mentalists are getting equivalent respect to sane, rational people. Anyone who brands these 2 pranksters "evil" and ACTUALLY MEAN it should have voting rights withdrawn - just what are their touchpoints for making any decisions in life? The whole thing reinforces my (admittedly patronising) view that too many people believe anything they are told, and any society that is so easily led by base prejudice doesn't stand much chance - especially given the challenging times ahead Witch-hunts in general - there have been a few on the forum over the years and I just hate the abandonment of thought, reason and balance. Maybe I've seen too many zombie media lately (28 weeks later, Dead Set, World War Z etc) but the parallels are striking - the infection of people who were oblivious just hours previously, sudden;y becoming SO informed they start phoning BBC/radio call-ins with plenty of venom and few facts

ratty, one for you! CA - The 176 nightbus stops at the very roundabout and the 12 nightbus stops about 75 yards away at the other end of Goose Green near the same roundabout -
I winced when I read the transcript of what happened on the show but having heard it, it didn't seem so bad I don't really want this to turn into a "do you like them" thread as it's not really relevant (i wouldn't classify myself as unequivocally pro but on the whole I think they are ok) but I am interested generally in witch hunts It seems to me that the vast majority of the however many thousand complaints now lodged are a direct result of the Mail and it's anti BBC bias, as well as all the other papers reprinting ad infinitum the transcript and details - if it was so offensive then surely some decorum on there part as they call for the heads of two broadcasters would be in order? Prior to the week-later reportage there were what, 2 complaints lodged I think they were out of order and am happy for any number of apologies and/or rebukes but no way should they be sacked. I can't see much difference between this situation and almost any other broadcast they do. I'll go further and say that I reckon that the granddaughter is capitalising in a big way from this and has possibly used PR for the promotion of her burlesque gigs (which I have no problem with) but don't play the naif "how could he" card as well

Difficult to judge without knowing what it is you like CA - where are you moving from and what was good there? It's possible to have a quiet drink and bite to eat or to have a raucous night out around the area - but not really possible to have a dance stangely enough Opinion is varied about the merits of the many restaurants and bars so best bet is to have a mooch around the threads here (or even search for specific bar names in the search bar above) I will say that it's an area I've live in for 8 years and intend to stay for many more - welcome. -
Welcome Strawberry Bank - don't be scared. Well not too much... I'm an old lag here and even I get scared sometimes ;-)

Does East Dulwich have a gay club/society/community?
SeanMacGabhann replied to dave2706's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I've met plenty of gay people in ED in my 8 years here, and several frequent this very forum However, anytime I've seen a suggested gathering advised, response has usually been pretty poor (ie no bugger shows up) A gay specific venue has also been mooted but I reckon it would be a non-stater commercially plus most of the bars in the area are diverse and tolerant If I had to pick the most gay-friendly bar it would probably be the Rye hotel -
Dead Set (Charlie Brooker's Big Brother Zombie thing)
SeanMacGabhann replied to SeanMacGabhann's topic in The Lounge
Lady Mac just started WWZ book.... Anyone interesting lined up for the film version? I haven't seen ep 2 of Dead Set yet, but I'm loving the producer guy - WHAT a gobshite -
watched MOnday's ep last night - wasn't expecting much although I like Brooker a lot (and let's face it.. I like zombies too) and I really really enjoyed it. It's not chalenging in any way but good entertainment I thought Anyone else catch it?

Possibly unpopular this but here goes: Even it was a more serious attack, would phoning the police have achieved anything? Not to denigrate the police - I'm assuming that resources being what they are they may have taken at least 5-10 minutes at which point whatever was happening would have been over and everyone dispersed? When people were attacked when I was growing up, calling the police would be the last thing anyone would have done - you either dealt with it or someone (adult) intervened (and that's not meant to sound callous tothe girl who was being attacked - I've been there. I jost don't think "phoning the police" would have done anything) -
Especially as afn is well aware there is an existing thread on the subject. . .

I'm in for that! (ooh possible conflict - let me confirm first but on principle mos def)
