  1. The Dutch experiment. But like drinking law changes, citizens of different countries seem to behave differently. I'm pretty sure it would end in tears in the UK... I'm all for giving it a go tho'
  2. It's usually at this point that someone says people like Asset and me are "holier than thou" or summat. Next time I see a road accident I'm going to go up to the driver and shake their hand for sticking it to the PC brigade...
  3. I've noticed a lot more roadworks on several roads between here and central London of late. I know Thames Water are doing a major upgrade but not sure if that's behind LL work That said - 8am on a weekday? What decent/lucky people aren't on their way to work by then?
  4. it's a sadder day still when so many people assume the rules don't apply to them (have you seen the road-casualty stats lately?) that authorities have to resort to that kind of thing. It's not really up to you to decide what is and isn't safe.. when you take your test you learn teh rules of the road and you must know they apply to you. If only one or two people were breaking the law then there would be no need for the cameras - simple.
  5. that sounds suspiciously apocryphal to me Asset...
  6. Nothing helps the war of the sexes debate along quite as well as calling an entire gender "you lot" ;-)
  7. And how many women in China appreciated THAT saying, eh???
  8. But see, eater81 isn't complaining about the fine - but BIG Brother society ... ... ... Except he/she IS complaining about the fine and couldn't give a toss about cameras unless directly affected, and would normally say to liberal do-gooders "if you have nothing to hide...." etc Or that's my guess anyway
  9. Was just teasing young lady - no need for "smileys" ! But as it's just over a week away and as it's in Nunhead (only juuuust) where many people may not usually stray I'm hoping that loads of people come along and check this place out - it's really very nice indeed
  10. according to A.N.Other forum, it was frozen mushrooms which melted. No idea how based on actuality any of this is mind you...
  11. come on Georgia.. you can do better than that I can "bump" Tony from the burbs can "bump" Madworld74 can "bump" You are the events organiser along with Mike "ooh but I'm travelling again" Paeleantologist - let's bump with a bit of brio, people!!!!!
  12. a jar of mushroom soup in the overhead locker?? Which must have been less than 100ml presumably? Which is SFA amount of soup....
  13. post of the month award for Mark ........ Sometimes on here some people remind me of the Yorkshire News section on Soccer AM, where each bulletin ended with the phrase
  14. In 2008 is it STILL "underhand" tactics?? There are road signs and road rules and the chances are that if we knowingly break them there IS a camera catching us - might not like it but only the very slow could still claim to be surprised? If only there were cameras to catch people making noise in the bars of LL eh??
  15. N+ is great fun Or at least was until I hit some level from hell which I just can't get past!
  16. so only CamberwellOz and a few others have a mice problem? ooohkayyyyyyy ;-)
  17. Might not be good for Feng Shui - or more likely karma - but if everyone catches mice and releases them into the park humanely where the bleedin' 'ell do you think this is all going to end - eh????
  18. blocking all holes is easier said than done - nigh on impossible I would have thought. Given that they can get through the tiniest of holes. When I lived in East London it was the worst - spotless flat and as much wire wool as I could throw at the holes. Ultimately tho, it came down to killing the resident mice - so that initial cull was along the lines of 1 a day for a week - after that it was pretty much ok. Occassionally some new mice heard of the old runs and give it a go and the latent traps become active again.. the new waves don't last long The current weather is also driving many of them indoors
  19. Ooops - good point Lady G!
  20. how is bbc3 a relegation from ITV1?????? ITV do the very WORST possible football coverage
  21. wow - seems a bit strange that this thread of all the thousands should be the one where people seem so upset by differing experiences at a business! I usually try and avoid posting anything negative about an establishment based one experience - if we were all judged so harshly by our employers for example we would be in trouble. If I read such a post from a firt-time poster my "fake-dar" is hyper-alert But in this case we have someone who has been posting for aaaages expressing an opinion - I can compare that with his many other opinions and weigh up the validity of it. I would prefer it was based on more than one experience but that could be just me. The opinions seemed fair and the owner responded well to them so I can't see too much to get fussed about. On balance I would be more inclined to use the shop now having read all the posts
  22. It can vary a bit bu sorry to be the bearer of bad news - I know you are already nervous enough about tonight
  23. Hi Anna - Friern Rd usually get mine at 2 ish
  24. Possibly similar to this thread Tony, but my entries were: The Beehive in Swindon (speaking of hard sells) - a place that kept me sane for 3 years in Wiltshire The Fountain in Whimple Devon - I watched the whole of the 94 World Cup in there and had my stag as well - top landlord Filthy McNasty's in Angel about 10 years ago (another pub which is a shadow if it's former self) The Porter Cottage in Sheffield
